I do wonder why religion is way bigger now in the states than it is here in the UK. Its fast disappearing over here considering footfalls into churches from the 1970's to now.....yet over there you have churches packed with folk banging on about an illusionist from 2000 years ago.....crazy.

I'm in Canada myself...but we have plenty of church's here as well...I have read that the amount of people going to church has dropped significantly.

Should have shared with them some verses of the Origin Of Species, that's what I tried to do last time.

there are many churches embracing each other's beliefs, finding common ground
    instead of uncommon
applying todays needs to yesterdays answers while looking to future healing

church is good for so many people ...
I'm on the outside looking in and don't understand why others like me don't feel this

They make these little signs that say "No Solicitating".

You badasses that get off swearing at people for their beliefs should try that.
  • darn now you've wrecked my dreams of visiting this 1000 olde Norman church in northern england... too bad the walls are plastered would love to see whats behind them.

I don't know about that, but you certainly could go to their homes!

Ugh, did you take a course in creative whining or something?

When those Jesus losers come to my door I tell them to go f*ck themselves, slam the door and then yell "Release the Hounds" so they can hear me through the door.

You don't see me banging on people's doors and invading their private spaces, trying to shove my delusions down their throats. You also don't see me spending tens of millions of dollars to take away their rights.

Being "kind" and "gentle" to Mormons banging on your door makes them feel like they're welcome... like they can come back. And they're not. And they can't. I want Mormons to be afraid to leave their own houses.

but how about you post your address here and we'll make sure they come visit you every day? OK?

    ok./

Why even bother opening the door? Just so you can be rude?

The reason your cause has so many problems advancing to where you feel it should be is because there are people fighting gay rights that are as open-minded as you are.

It is annoying when they do this, and it is soliciting. Like others said, there is a nice, yet firm way to do it. Last time they hit my door, they started their spiel, I interrupted them and said 'thank you but I already have my own beliefs, have a nice day'. close door. Haven't been back.
  • Very good point, people in some religions preach freedom when they have when Jesus take the wheel, however they are preaching oppression and hate of others and contrary to popular belief, that is not very open minded like Jesus wanted you all to be.

I call bullshit on that one.

this is no different than when I was told, as I wiped the blood off my face - by the high school vice principal - that the bigger kids wouldn't beat me up for being gay if I wasn't gay.

Sorry, but no, I'm a f*ck of a lot more "open-minded" than any of those people.

I don't force myself into their lives, bang on their doors or support laws to make them live in ways I approve of.

So don't you dare compare me to those people.

After the way my community has been vilified, targeted and shat upon, I'm allowed to be as angry as I want when those same Mormons who paid money out of their pockets to support Prop 8 feel they can come to my door and hand me their propaganda.

Don't blame me for fighting back.

I think it matters not if others listen or agree, their faith/beliefs
    brings them bound to share

they just want to be respected and not be bombarded with hate

    not unlike any of us

I'll add that the bigger person is thoughtful of others feelings even when they
    don't agree with them

And... after Mormons orchestrated a huge, covert and mega-funded campaign to scare people into voting away my rights... you want me to be thoughtful of their feelings?

Why don't I just put on a nice green astroturf T-shirt that says "Welcome" over the back with a little plastic daisy and lay face-down in front of their cult headquarters? Would that make you happy?

Well I really wasn't rude...told them the bible was BS and shut the door...and if they or anyone thinks that's rude then people need to grow a thicker skin...because they are rude for offering unsolicited advice at my door.
