Where do you live? Anchorage? Just curious...and also curious if there are other Alaskans on this board!
Shoot, you'd think Ed would want to go see the bus in Denali, if nothing else...and as long as they were here for that.....I bet they could easily sell out the PAC.
Anyway, Play Alaska!
Fairbanks. I don't think there are many others on here, I've run across two others but haven't seen them post anything in a long time. I was hoping this thread may pull a few from the woodwork.
I can't see Ed taking the time for a trip to the bus unless he's flown in there with a helicopter and I just don't see him doing that (however Sean Penn did fly in there with Jon Krakauer). I've been to it before, its by no means an easy hike, and dangerous depending on the river water levels.
That being said, they should still come play a show or two and I agree they would sell out any venue in Anchorage or Fairbanks and I think there would be a fair number of people who travel here for a show and vacation.
Probably haven't played there because of the small venues. Carlson Center in Fairbanks only holds 6,500 and the Sulliivan Arena in Anchorage seats less than 9,000.
For a tour to be finanically viable, arenas need to seat 12,000-20,000 people. They can squeeze a small venue in here or there in a tour that is hitting major cities along the way, but Alaska is pretty far out of the way to go and play a small show. Plus they would have to fly in all crew & equipment -- not cheap.
bump for 322 inches of snow so far this winter in Valdez and 43 below zero in Fairbanks.
Well, as long as we are bumping for weather, bump for being 3 inches from the all-time snowfall record in Anchorage!
Breakup is making this a LAKE down here....but I want 3 more inches of snow. I mean, jeez...we've gone this far at 130 inches for the winter! What's 3 more, at this point?
Oh...and if a band like Creed can play the Alaska State Fair, PJ can play Alaska!
