In my whole life I have known but one Dalmatian, back in Wisconsin 2 doors down.

She was a wonderful dog... playful with all the neighborhood kids.
Gentle, sweet, and a good neighborhood watch dog too,
keeping an eye out for strangers and unknown vehicles. She was smart.

Her name was Daisy... I remember her fondly now almost 25 years later.

So true with what you wrote about them, they are very loving and loyal as well. She has started to let me know when something strange is around.

Going to lay on the floor with Bailey. I think she is trying to make her exit. I have pillows and blankets set up. I will sleep next to her as I think she is in her last few days and is letting me know. What a great relationship since 1997. I will think of her everyday until I die. I am going to rough it out and sleep on the floor next to her. She is in the process of leaving...

I hope you're wrong but you're probably not . We dog people can usually gauge this stuff.....especially you, after 14 years. Take care; think of the good times and know that we are all feeling your pain.

Bailey is still hanging in there, in fact she slept a hell of a lot better than me. I'm a wreck.

Yep...dog people know how to gauge these things, and the last couple of days have been so rough. Bailey is sending me signs, especially through her eyes. I've seen a marked change in them. I don't know how to describe it...her eyes..they are pretty vacant, I perceive it as her in pain.

She has lost nearly all her tone/strength in her walk. She falls all over the place. She cannot get around without my assistance. Been checking her gums, and they are pretty pale, almost white.

We went to the vet yesterday as a follow up. Good news is, is that her breathing is a lot better than it was on October 27 when she needed intensive care. So the Ventolin puffer and steroids are helping. But at the same time, other things are going.

She is generally lethargic. What scared the shit out of me last night is that she let out a few yelps/whines...like she is in pain. I ran over to her to find her shaking with fear in her eyes. All I can see is her pain right now. It is hell.

Just poured a glass of red, it is 1pm. Fuck it, my best friend is dying.

Good idea. I do have some low dose aspirin on hand, I will call her vet now to see if it's ok.

The wine is good. I haven't had proper shut eye since her emergency last month. I am her 24/7 nurse, giving back what she gave to me all her life.

the white gums are not good . I'm sure Bailey is glad you're there.

yes.....fuck it....drink that wine. Losing a dog is abourt the worst thing ever.

Yes, I've seen that sight before and it was pretty close to the end.
So hard to know when they are in pain and you can't stop it. I know it's good for her that you are close by.
Thinking about you and wishing I could make it easier for both of you. :(
