This is awesome! We once ended up with a kitty on KC that originally belonged in FL! The owners drove all the way out, and the cat was soooooooo happy to see them! It makes you wonder how that happens?? So glad Lily was returned safely to her family here in Co!

I just saw this on FB, we didn't post it. It's very cute. A puppy who keeps escaping from the kitchen...

We had a puppy who did the same thing. We were leaving her in an ex-pen during the day, then we came home and found her running loose in the house. We thought maybe we'd forgotten to put her in the pen that morning. Came home the next day, same thing. Glenn put her back in the pen and she promptly climbed right out. That was the end of using the ex-pen.

I've been ready to give my heart to another dog for a while now. Months ago, I contacted the breeder that we got Django from and she told me that she expected to have some puppies available in late spring or early summer. I thought it would be worth the wait. Then I heard from her last week. The dog is in season and will be bred. I have seen the dog before and she's great. Even better, her mom is Django's sister. It really sounds good to have a dog from the same family. They all have great temperaments. But if she is just about to be bred, that means that puppies won't be available until the end of summer. I don't want to wait that long.

Today Glenn and I went to a Sheltie Rescue adoption event. This is the group that we adopted Penny from in 2008. We weren't sure if we'd even find a dog today but we found 2 that we're interested in. I filled out an application, then spoke to the person fostering each dog. They have the final say in who gets the dog, so they go over the application and sort of interview you.

The first dog was a 6 month old puppy. They don't get puppies very often, so there was a lot of interest in him. His foster mom was really nice though, and told me that she knew I was a good a sheltie mom since I'd already adopted one dog from them. But she told me that I had some serious competition so to be sure and have a second choice.

The dog that turned out to be our first choice was a 2 year old guy. Wonderful sweet disposition. We fell in love with him. So we talked to his foster mom. She didn't like us! She had a problem with our application, where we'd said that we let our dogs play in the yard when the weather is nice. She informed us that shelties are strictly house dogs! I told her that our dogs are in the house the majority of the time but she didn't seem impressed. Wow! Why do they ask if you have a fenced yard if you're not supposed to leave your dog in it? And what the hell is wrong with letting dogs play in the yard?

I tend to think we're pretty responsible dog parents so this really threw me for a loop. I don't know whether to be angry or hurt. Mostly I'm disappointed, because I don't think we'll get to adopt either dog. They're supposed to let us know one way or the other. I guess the one plus in all of this is that they had more adopters than dogs available.

Stay tuned, I guess. We will find a dog eventually.

*Edit. I just now got an email that the 2 year old was adopted by someone else. Bummer.

Better thank you. He is a pleaser. He hates being in trouble and since I caught him sleeping on the couch he seems to be watching his p's and q's better in general. I also noticed since he has been better walking others in the house started walking him for me. I don't think they were keeping him out long enough. I usually take him on a 2 to 3 mile walk where they were doing a short little 20 minute walk. I think me doing it again and really getting his energy out has helped also.

Awesome!! So glad to hear his training is going so well!! :-) give him hugs for me! ( and explain it to the kiddos like this.. It's like starting a game, and then abruptly ending said game to go back inside for no reason..that's frustrating. Even more so when you're a dog on a walk.. )

Boomer has learned to ride in style in the car. Might as well use the time to get some loves from the kids.

I need to post a new pic of Miss Pearl Piggy, but I just wanted to share this story, she got shots the other day, andthe shot locations both swelled up into little lumps, just for the evening it was gone by morning, but for the rest of the evening we couldn't touch her she would just yelp in pain....we felt so awful...my daughter discovered it while my hubby and I were grocer shopping and called us in a panic....that was quite funny....but the poor baby she couldn't stand to be touched all night...she got the shots in her shoulder area...
