Personally, I do not see one bit of difference in Blu-Ray as compared to DVD.

Then you may want to get your eyes checked. That's like saying there is no difference in standard TV and HDTV.

Not ot mention that the audio is infinitely better on blu-ray over DVD.

    20/20 here and no difference.

Then you may want to try another optometrist.

That's hilarious. Actually blu-ray is over twice as clear as DVD so you not seeing that should tell you something.

    ARC! :D
And Golden State, just to spite me.

16 songs! I freaking cannot wait for that album. I know I will love every song on it that is by Eddie. Which ones are covers, beside Tonight You Belong To Me? Heard Eddie playing it the other night, loved it. That's one out of the way. Ah, the worries.

It's not dissapointing. It's just that you are flat out wrong if you think there is no difference between a DVD and a Blu-ray.

Wonderful news! Finally some better quality vids of Ed solo than the youtube stuff :D I don't care whether there will be a blu-ray release as well since I have no player or HDTV, so a DVD is just fine with me. And I also hope the album will be released on vinyl!

    Thank you, Ed!

Same here...although i can't imagine it not being released on vinyl.

Thanks Ed...and thanks Kelly for talking him into releasing it :-)

Here's the thing. If you've never seen the same movie running side-by-side on Blu-Ray and DVD, you can't appreciate the difference. You convince yourself that the DVD looks fine and that's that. You might think Blu-Ray looks awesome but without seeing them right next to each other, you have no idea just how much better Blu-Ray looks.

Trust me, Blu-Ray versions of some movies wouldn't be outselling their DVD version if it was just a gimmick. It's the real deal and loads better than DVD.

The funny thing is anything shot with a Flip HD ultra will have better picture quality on youtube than the actual DVD will.

    hahahahahahahaha

Nothing like shooting something in 1080p and degrading the quality over 2 times and releasing it.

well at least i'm not the only one who doesn't think the difference is that significant, if significant at all.

Yeah, but most of the videos I have seen of his solo shows on yt have been shot by fans with not-so-perfect angles and quality. So I am looking forward to anything that keeps the focus and anything that is not shaky. I hope for you that you will get your blu-ray cause I also know that HD shots can be quite stunning... But since I don't have the equipment to watch it like that at home, I'm glad if there will also be a simple dvd relase available.

First of all, I'm PUMPED about the CD and DVD!

That said, you are lucky to not be able to tell the difference between Blu-ray and DVD. It'll save you quite a bit of money. My guess is you haven't taken the plunge on a nice HDTV either?
I guess I'm not so lucky, because Blu-ray on my 50" HDTV (1080p) is infinitely better than any DVD...even upscaled. I know a couple people who "can't tell the difference" and to be honest more often than not it's because they have a cheap (or cheaper) TV, they don't use HDMI cables.

While I'd prefer and pay more for Blu...I'm just happy to get anything!
    Thanks Ed!

Couldn't agree with you more. No HDTV, no blu-ray player. And fingers crossed for the vinyl!!!

For people to say they won't buy this if its only out on dvd is quite ridiculous

regarding the blu ray/dvd debate. obviously there is a difference, or no one would pay for blu ray. yes, blu ray looks better. but, if you have a good dvd player with hdmi cables and an hd tv, newer dvds can appear to be in hd. so a regular dvd, if converted, looks pretty damn good. good enough to not complain about not having a blu ray option. for me at least.
  • sweet!! this is gonna be an EXPENSIVE year. i think i'll just wire the band all of my money right now and get it over with.

+1. That's what I've been saying all along. Whether or not its better quality, isn't it enough that they're releasing shows to watch? Or do we have to find a reason to complain about something all the time? I'm starting to think its the latter because this thread is just like every other thread on this board, ever. :D

Would you be happy if the new Ed album was only released in cassette format and not in Vinyl, CD or mp3 format?
