First off I'm complaining. It just doesn't make sense to not offer it on blu ray. What don't you understand about that.
I'm just not going to waste my money and buy a DVD when I have absolutely no interest in lesser quality DVD's. I will rent it off of netflix. It's not like its a must have limited edition piece of merchandise that someone will shoot themselves for not buying.
It's a rental at best in DVD format in my opinion. If you want to buy a DVD go for it. I'm not saying it's a bad or dumb idea. I'm just not wasting my money on it. I will put that $25 towards seeing him in 1080p in Philly on June 25th.

Wahnaise.
DVD's are the Vinyl of Digital Video. Blue Ray... who cares. I got Blue Ray eyes that turn DVD's into 3d sickness... and when its Ed Solo DVD's... my retina's turn into lasers.

sure, blu-ray is better quality....but a dvd is fine w/ me.
+1. That's what I've been saying all along. Whether or not its better quality, isn't it enough that they're releasing shows to watch? Or do we have to find a reason to complain about something all the time? I'm starting to think its the latter because this thread is just like every other thread on this board, ever.
Would you be happy if the new Ed album was only released in cassette format and not in Vinyl, CD or mp3 format?
Of course, I'd want it on a CD or MP3 format, because no one has cassette players anymore. Your argument falls apart because a) a majority of people still use DVD players, and b) blu-ray players still play DVDs. In other words, DVD does not equal cassette. DVDs are still widely usable on very accessible machines (i.e. DVD players or blu-ray players). Cassettes are not. So not a great comparison there.
I may be understating the quality of blu-ray (having only seen it a few times), but I think you're also greatly overstating how bad DVDs are. Its not like they're releasing it on a VHS or film reel. I'll bet your blu-ray player will even play Ed's new DVD.
All in all, whether blu-ray is far better quality is not the issue. Its about being happy your band still releases fun new music in both audio and visual formats. Its just not that big of a deal...

I just want to watch it over and over, thats why I need the DVD. If you get netflix, isnt it just a one time thing, or watch it and send it back?

I am happy, I'm just not buying it. I will get it for free on netflix and keep it as long as I want to.
You are aware that blu-rays come with DVD and digital downloads now for free right?
So you would rather just pay for the DVD instead of getting all 3 formats for the a slightly higher price so you can play the blu-ray when you upgrade your player?

First of all, I am a huge fan of Blu-ray. I was onboard from the very beginning. I have a Blu-ray player (PS3) and a kickass system to support it. There is no question that it is superior in every way to DVD.
That said, I don't agree with you on this last post of yours. I for one, would be excited for a grainy youtube video of some Ed solo stuff. The fact that he's giving us the chance to own, for what it sounds like, a bad ass DVD...I'm friggen pumped!!
Also, the last DVD from the Italian shows was a DVD, but a damn good looking one. Yeah, it's not Blu, but it's still nice!
And even if it was released on Blu (which I'd prefer), I really doubt it would be released supporting Dolby True-HD or even 7.1 for that matter.
While I'd prefer Blu, I'm happy with that ancient DVD format!

No I get all that. I'm just choosing to be happy about this rather than find fault with it. That's all. You're right; whenever I buy a blu-ray, I'll want to watch things on blu-ray. But that's not a problem for me right now, so why worry about it? I'm just choosing to be happy about the news.

Oh RYEzupSF... how I love you. We'll see. Very possibly... however I try not to make it just a PJ driven program cuz not everyone has the same passion as us. Good news though... I'm the second most downloaded show on FCCFreeRadio.com with 1200 downloads this month. Please help me be the most downloaded show by clicking to listen here: http://fccfreeradio.com/shows/station/l ... n_show.mp3

No doubt... I'm sure that's correct... but are you finding the download link anywhere? I looked on itunes and nothing yet. I don't know how all the clickity clackity computerizers work but can they block IP's from The States from seeing certain links? I sorta don't think so. I'm so fired up that the album has such a hefty number of songs. I've heard MANY of the songs and some of them I fell in love with when I saw Ed at the wiltern in 2002. But SOOOOO stoked studio versions are coming out. And there are a good 7-9 that I have never heard. VERY EXCITING DAY.
YAY! Very excited about a date for Ed's new album that I heard so much about while in Oz + a DVD!! YAY!!! I'd hoped a DVD of Oz shows might have accompanied the new album but any footage is great by me!! Just what I need to top off being on tour! No complaints from here.

That Washington night was the only Eddie solo show I was able to attend and I've dreamt about watching those moments again since Eddie himself announced there would have been a dvd out of both nights by the White House.
I'm so excited I can hardly breathe
How am I going to let these next two months pass, now?

I'm glad you're pumped. I am too, I'm just not paying to own a DVD. Getting it from Netflix for as long as I want to for free is plenty good for me.

What makes me laugh is how you make dvd out to be such poor quality. Its really not. Yeah blu-ray is superior but dvd quality isn't all that bad. Do you not own any dvds then?

p.s. i heard they are going to play "I Am Me" at PJ20 for you, so you're all set!
I've been waiting for this moment since August, 17th 2008 and finally the dvd is going to be released!!!
That Washington night was the only Eddie solo show I was able to attend and I've dreamt about watching those moments again since Eddie himself announced there would have been a dvd out of both nights by the White House.
I'm so excited I can hardly breathe
How am I going to let these next two months pass, now?
I CAN'T WAIT!!!
