I know that I am not the only Pearl Jam fan traveling to New York to see Pearl Jam. So, I thought the natives could help us all out and tell us what to see while we're there. Any help and suggestions would be great (you all helped me out when I went to Philly last year...thanks again).

Edit: Thanks everyone, wow. Now I just need 4 months (instead of 4 days) to do it all.

From CT but I've been to the city a lot for a day to tour it. I love going to Central Park and seeing the John Lennon memorial. I would say go to Virgin records, but they closed it. What a shame.

take a walk i n the west village, hit up some real record stores. then stroll east to little italy and chinatown. if you want pizza, try ray's on prince or lombardi's. for chinese, go to wo-hop but make sure you go downstairs! if you're into shopping, spend a few hours in soho.

i don't like to hang out uptown much, but you're a tourist and you should take a walk through central park. hit up the museum of natural history while you're there. i also love the roerich museum.

    anything else?

stay away from times square...its a tourist trap and it sucks

Not sure how much time you have to kill but I've been in NYC almost 9 years now, and these things never get old to me:

    Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge
    Walk along Hudson River Park
Hit some good restaurants, my current favourites are 15 East for sushi, Crispo for Italian and Double Crown for brunch+all you can drink DIY Bloody Marys (for $32+tax+tip)
    Top of the Rock

    Also echo Central Park.

Oh, and pick out the current Time Out NY (or go to timeoutny.com) to see what's going on that week. You could see if you could score Daily Show or Cobert Report tickets now, check their websites.

    greatest city in the world.

my opinion... no agenda is the best agenda. there is something to do everywhere. just walk around and you will be amazed at what you stumble upon. it's not a big city... on a nice day you can just about walk anywhere you want. stroll through times square, but i wouldn't spend alot of time there. it's overpriced and over crowded. actually... avoid it. i would hit up the lower east side or village for some neighborhood bars/restaurants. you will get a more "local" feel rather than all the tourist BS that NYC can really shove down your throat. plus booze is a little cheaper.

oh, and central park really is beautiful in the spring/summer.

I lean more towards the Yankees, but I don't dislike the Mets, at least not the players and friends who are fans. As for the people running that team, that's another story.

OK - Just went for a week in February - here are my suggestions:

Magnolia Bakery - tourist trap from Sex in City but instead of getting the cupcakes like a tourist, ask for banana pudding. I made it two blocks in freezing cold before I finished it and turned around and got back in line to get another.

Lombardi's Pizza on Spring st. (I think) - then get a canoli on Mulberry street.

MOMA may still have the Tim Burton exhibit which is awesome as well as a number of Jackson Pollocks, Seurat, Warhol, Monet Waterlilies and Van Gogh.
"Hey, listen asshole, one more fucker throws a fuckin' quarter up here and we're outta here, I'm tellin' ya, FUCKER! What the fuck, you're blowin' it for fuckin' everybody. Hit me with a fuckin' quarter again and, fuck it, I'm outta here. We're all outta here. Fuck you, and if anyone sees someone throw fuckin' change right next to them, you have my permission to beat the fuckin' holy shit outta them."
