I tried not to let that drag me down, but it was hard. This was my first show. I could see people sneaking down to the pit, and I couldn't do it. There was a locked up dumbwaiter, and despite my pleas, they wouldn't let me go down there, even though there was wheelchair spaces available.
I had a really good experience with the staff as far as getting down to my seats using the dumbwaiter, but I think that's because they saw my tickets were in the pit. There was one staffer with spiky hair and an indeterminate accent that was with me before and after that was just the nicest guy in the world. I'm sorry your experience to get down didn't go well. :(
I really don't want to give the impression that I'm whining about my experience, it was fucking amazing to be down that close, especially when everyone was sitting for Ben Harper and I could see. I was unbelievably lucky to get pit seats, even just sitting and listening and getting a sliver of a view of Ed & Jeff through the forest of people ahead of me.
I'm glad you had a good time despite the shitty seat juggling parts! I hope you can get 10C seats next time, or if you can't afford two seats, ask around beforehand on the forums here or at Red Mosquito to see if someone can buy ADA tix from the 10C and you split the cost. The 10C reserves the best ADA seats in the venue, so they're guaranteed to get a decent view with you.
How can one describe this show, almost speachless, thats how!!!
After what i just had heard and seen in SLC, i thought no way possible that i would get anything close to it.
But I was wrong!!! This show for me ranks right under SLC... It was yet another EPIC show. I was lucky enough to see two shows that just simply put blew me away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My tour buddy sen , once again having a show buddy like you, made this show so much better, and special for me... Its really hard to explain to some of you, just a great connection that made this a special night for me.....
sen you won the battle, when PORCH started just like you said you would. Thank you so much, once again words can't even begin to explain, what it meant to me to be with you at these shows!
Next time you will end up in the isle, when PORCH starts... you can take that to the bank....
It was also great to meet Norm,Lizard,Paul,Wendy,Rod and Denise!!! you guys are the coolest and i hope to be able to come back to LA and hang out and see some future shows with all of you!!! Sorry my voice was messed up... I blame PEARL JAM for that
Thank you to Norm and Lizard you guys are a class act all around!!!

Gotta say, BEST fucking rock show I;ve ever been to-period. 6th time seeing PJ, last time was 7-20-06, and the crowd was a bit listless. Those people saying this crowd sucked must have gone to a different show, because the crowd I attended with sang virtually every word, including the new songs. The band sounded better than ever-the versions of "Present Tense" and "Red Mosquito(w/Ben Harper playing mean-ass slide guitar) were exquisite. I couldn't be more impressed-hoping to catch the last L.A. show next Thursday-looks like last night's show had a great setlist!
I won't change direction, and I won't change my mind.....
Set List: Why Go, Animal, World Wide Suicide, Got Some, Tremor Christ, Force Of Nature, Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town, Unthought Known, Even Flow, Amongst The Waves, Insignificance, Rats, Present Tense, Big Wave, Down, The Fixer, Porch
1st encore: Just Breathe w/string quartet, The End w/string quartet, Red Mosquito w/Ben Harper, Black, Life Wasted
2nd encore: State Of Love And Trust, Alive, Rockin' In The Free World (Young)
Call me crazy, but the set list included Speed of Sound. Anyone?

Nope, the only two songs on the setlist that WEREN'T played were Comatose and Indifference, bookending the 2nd encore.
Jeez,
Crazy. I know i don't really have any proof, and none of you have any real reason to believe me, but I was the kid on stage! Holy cow! This was not only my first Pearl Jam show, but my first concert of anyone, ever! I was scared out of my mind, but it was so awesome! I didn't quite get what Eddie wanted me to do over by Mike, so i just kind of, presented him, awestruck. Insanity. Mike and Eddie both gave me a pick, and I even got an autographed tambourine during RITFW! I just want to thank everyone for making it one of the best nights of my life, you guys are all so awesome! I literally can not stop shaking! I was also lucky enough to get one of the orange vinyls at my local record store about a week ago! I am about the luckiest guy on the planet!
WOW. I was there and felt SO f***ing happy for you. The look on your face was priceless up there - genuine shock mixed with heartfelt adoration for the band - it really made me happy to see you have that opportunity! First concert, too?!! What an experience! Hope you are still enjoying it!
Eddie said he liked my shirt... so I tossed it up on stage.
...
Actually.. i guess I am.
Eddie motioned me to get closer to the stage so he could toss me a tamborine during 'Rockin' In The Free World'. He said he really liked my jersey... a Chicago Bears, Gale Sayers #40 (my favorite player of all time). I went back to my seat... gave the tamborine to my friend (since i already had one) and thought, 'Hell... i can always get another one".
So, I went back down and talked the security guard into letting me on the floor to get a clearer shot at the stage because there were amps on the side. I tossed it up there. He waved a thanx as they exited past.
...
And yeah... I have given the jacket off my back to to a homeless guy on Fairfax because it was cold, he was living on the street and i have a closet full of jackets at home where i sleep in a nice, comfortable warm bed. Other people have done better things for strangers.
I know Eddie could afford a jersey.. but, what the fuck, right? He liked it... and he seems like a nice enough guy. Besides, one football jersey for a lifetime of music that has meant so much to me (and got me through the worst time in my life)... I figured, it's a fair exchange.

Thanx, Pix... same goes for you.
One of the things that makes me happy is seeing everyone in one place. I mean, I love the gigs and all... but, it's the only time I see some of the most genuinely nice people I have ever met. My friend's health problems makes it difficult for her to make it to the gigs and stay late afterwards. Since we split our Ten/VHC tix, it was better to make her experience as least stressful as possible, rather than having to meet up at the venue.
Since we both got TicketMonster tix for the next 2 shows, she is sending me up solo and will drive herself. So, I can run up early for booze and stay late for after gig grub.
See you Tuesday, sweetheart.

SO i'm just reading all of the post and WOW, I'm a 10c member and I had Orch 5 row AA (yes first row) and the crowd around me was amazing!! I guess I didn't pay attention to the crowd behind me to notice the 'lack of energy' that everyone is talking about. I'm going again tonight but I'll be sitting in lodge and I'll make sure Eddie notices all the energy...btw, night one Tremor Christ, Rats, Porch, Why go, and State or love and trust?! IT was AMAZING!!!
TI met some nice folks (brother and sister in their 50's) that were also ADA ticketholders, but they were far more hardcore than I, in terms of number of shows they'd been to. Also met a nice girl by the name of Janet (I think) with her boyfriend/husband. They were from Philly, and were going to all 4 shows to close out the Spectrum.
I know my mind's all over the place, but I really think this was the best show I've been to.
Hey!!! It was great to meet you too :-) Last night rocked...we had a blast, and cannot WAIT for the rest of these shows! BTW, if you want any pictures, send me a PM...
I think i saw you last night... Is your hair darker than in your photo?
The band seemed very excited to play in LA again....And we were waiting for them...the small venue sounded great and the fans were singing their guts out....we could tell the band liked our vibe.....
