Had 4th row pit tickets, right in front of Ed. Fan club # 72xxx. Was happier beyond words when I picked them up last night. Although I've been in the fan club forever I don't get to follow them around like I'd really like to. Usually each tour I'll treat myself to a show out of town. This year was Portland.
To the person that complained about their being a lot of tall people there tonight, you can count me as one of them. My friend and I were the two giants in the 4th row. I apologize to everybody in the 5th and possibly 6th rows of the pit. I mean that. But sadly, nothing I can do about it.
Amazing set list tonight! Why Go into Animal. That set the table for what we were in store for last night. Really liked hearing "Red Mosquito" and "Present Tense" after being lucky enough to hear both Portland. "Just Breathe" and "The End" with the string section was amazing too. The sound at Gibson is the best of any venue I've ever been too. And you heard this all night, "There isn't a bad seat in the house". If you're thinking of going to any of these shows, do it. You won't be disappointed.
I also got a McCready pick and an EV pic....all during the first 3 songs.
Best moment of the night though, hands down, was the kid being pulled up on stage by Ed during SOLAT. The kid was happy beyond words and could barely contain himself. I think Ed was trying to get him on his shoulders but he couldn't hear what he was saying and just saw there in awe watching Mike play. Then during RITFW, Ed runs to the side stage, grabs a tambourine, SIGNS it, comes back on stage, and tosses it to the kid. Truly a special moment and it's exactly why the first 2 rows should always be random...
So who can help me out with an extra fan club ticket for tonight?!
Irvine 92,Indio 93,San Fran 95,San Diego 95x2,San Diego 98,LA 98x2,San Diego 00,San Bern 00,Irvine 03,San Diego 03,Las Vegas 03,Santa Barbara 03,Vancouver 05,LA 06x2,Santa Barbara 06,Cincy 06,Leeds 06,Reading 06,Portland 09,LA 09x3,San Diego 09,NYC 10x2, PHX 13, SD 13, LAx2 13, Cincy 14, Ft Lauderdale 16, Miami 16, Dana Point 21x2, Vegas 24, LAx2 24, Dana Point 24
I'm sitting bleary eyed at my desk, sipping coffee and trying to get thoughts together. Feel exhausted, hungover, yet still can't fucking wait to go again tonight. These guys just BRING IT. How do they do it every time? To have as much energy as they do, 18 years into their career is awesome. And it's all genuine, you have to love it. It's like having 5 Springsteens up on stage. Opening up with the Why Go/Animal/Got Some triple play showed they were not fucking around in LA. Got Some really holds up well next to those two songs too, God I love that song right now. Set was a little heavy on new songs (7), but that's to be expected. They nailed every song, Even Flow was great, and that's not one of my favorites. Porch and WWS smoked and Black was ridiculously good, as usual. Hoping for some Yield tonight, we didn't get much of that.
To the people saying the crowd wasn't into it, where were you? I was in the loge to the left, and people pretty much stood for the entire show and were loud. The sing-along to Present Tense was solid - that's always a test for a crowd, the PT singalong, and they passed. I was really happy to get PT, Down, Red Mosquito and SOLAT, I've seen them 5 times and never gotten any of those.
To see them at such a small venue like this is really a gift, the acoustics and sightlines are outstanding, there isn't a bad seat in the house.
Also, who was the kid Eddie brought up on stage to sing? Anyone know him? That was random, but funny.
Change don't come at once, it's a wave, building before it breaks.
WAKE UP PARTY PEOPLE: Lurking in BG for 20 years - once again the fan club came through - section 5 - 3rd row aisle - I don't think that I actually slept last night. Mike rocked the house last night as usual. I have seen PJ in Indio, SF, Hawaii, Vegas - blah blah blah - this set list was phenom. Tonight should be a t-shirt and poster purchase night - I even took a crusty old jaded PJ fan - he has seen the light again my friends - no more bad concerts for him again....
Tremor Christ has been on my, "this would make my life," list forever. It's totally fitting that they played it after SLC...which I was at...I'm home in Chicago now..I was one show away!!
Force of Nature, I bet it was awesome.
Have fun tonight, LA!!
First of all, a HUGE thanks to Kevin (KC2917) for selling me his extra ticket (even though you are a Giants fan  ). We were 5th row on the floor almost in the center and I had the TIME OF MY LIFE!!!
Tremor Christ was a treat for sure and Red Mosquito was a highlight too.
I enjoyed the new songs so much more than in Seattle because I know them a lot better now and they sounded GREAT----Force of Nature!! Unthought Known sounded soooooooooo good.
Re Rats---Ed sang the ending as usual--nothing extra (someone had asked).
Also, after mentioning the #1 record he said that most of them were now parents and even though the kids don't understand what the #1 record means they tell their kids "Your dad's #1. ... and don't you fucking forget it" or something like that......
AWESOME NIGHT. Have fun tonight everyone.
Can't wait for nite 3
Oh yeah----passed by Patrick Warburton on my way to get my tix and yelled Hey Puddy. He said hi--(forgot his real name when I saw him)
So I'll just lie down and wait for the dream Where I'm not ugly and you're lookin' at me
I'd give the show an 8 out of 10 last night. Overall, I'd say it was an average PJ show but TREMOR CHRIST was truly jaw-dropping. This was the best live song I've heard them play in many years. Truly a treat and one can only hope they add it more often to the set lists. I left wishing I had seen the Salt Lake City set list. I think tonight will be the night to go.....
TI met some nice folks (brother and sister in their 50's) that were also ADA ticketholders, but they were far more hardcore than I, in terms of number of shows they'd been to. Also met a nice girl by the name of Janet (I think) with her boyfriend/husband. They were from Philly, and were going to all 4 shows to close out the Spectrum.
I know my mind's all over the place, but I really think this was the best show I've been to.
Hey!!! It was great to meet you too :-) Last night rocked...we had a blast, and cannot WAIT for the rest of these shows! BTW, if you want any pictures, send me a PM...

i saw your husband last night, he was two seats over from me. i said "hey, your liz's husband" and he goes, "oh hey, santa barbara, right?" he looked like he was having a good time.
Amazing setlist. Amazing show. Amazing seats. Thank you Ten Club. The crowd was much more energetic than an LA crowd usually is and I think they won over a lot of new fans last night. I love the variety of setlists that we are getting on this tour. So many highlights last night:
Rats - first time I've heard it live. Just flat out rocked.
Unthought Known - heard this one in Portland and it is quickly becoming a favorite. Love the way it builds.
Insignificance - Best I've ever heard it played.
Tremor Christ - oh yes!!!! Porch - loved the intro to it
Free World - brought the house down! Was this the venue where they played it with "Uncle Neil" for the MTV video music awards? I think Eddie mentioned this.
Random LA/Celebrity stuff:
Phil Jackson, who has been a fan for a while, was standing to the left of the stage. They were selling a psuedo-Lakers hat that Phil wore after the latest championship with the roman numeral IX on the front that commemorated PJ's ninth album (maybe?), and the years played in LA. It had "PJ" on the back. (Get it, PJ?) . As a lakers fan it is now one of the coolest things I own. I"m sure someone has posted a pic of it somewhere.
"Puddy" was seated very close to us in the orchestra. He appeared to be a fan of "Ten". He sang along to Alive and Evenflow, in case anyone was wondering.
Eddie mentioned that the new album went #1 this week and that they had a few albums "years ago" do that too. He said that they didn't "give a s***" then and don't "give a s***" now. It made for a good joke but I have a suspicion that they do care, at least a little bit. This band is on fire!
10C #10XXX - Got PIT AAA seats 1 & 2...and this was my girlfriend's first show! Thank you 10C!!! You have always been good to the fans. If your shipments of things are a little late, that's how things go. Just don't change the way you have the club structured. It's the best music fan club around.
What a fantastic show. I really wanted to hear Force of Nature and it was played. Rats was an awesome treat! During Eddie's intro to Rats, the security guard in front of me leaned over and said "That sounds like that Michael Jackson song..." ...so awesome...
Early in the show Ed was holding his wine bottle and looked at me and pointed to the bottle. I shook my head but without my gf seeing, pointed to her. Ed nodded. As the show went on I think he forgot.
Then when he was handing out tambourines, he looked at me and again I pointed to my gf behind her and he nodded and came over and gave her one. That was the most amazing thing.
Jacob, the kid who got pulled up on stage, had the night of his life. He could barely walk back to his seat. I thought he was going to hurl or flat out pass out.

I loved Ed's recovery from Tremor Christ. He started the first verse by singing the actual second verse, but found a way to work through the mistake. He also goofed on one of the new songs, but also worked it out.
Can somebody tell me if with the 10c tickets (random allocation) you could be absolutely ANYWHERE in the venue or is the allocaiton limited to a certain space? Thanks.
Sounds like yesterday's show, as far as the band, was incredible.
Hope next 3 shows in LA are as good!
funny that norm said "holy fuckballs" because thats exactly what i texted to my buddy half way through the show.
when ed started picking the beginning of "ben" by the michael jackson, i knew they were going into "rats".
i can't talk today, and am pretty exhausted, but it was worth it for that show. definitely in my top 5 of all time. can't wait to get the boot.
i think i said it to myself after tc...i'm still pretty speechless...i saw lizard, pearlgirl2010 and lukintimer in the lobby and they'll attest that i was in a little shock right after the show...i don't have much of a review...the guys were on fire and i can't wait to do it all again tonight!!!!

Amazing show last night! Made it to work, about an hour and a half late. Head is still fuzzy though. I can't believ it's only 10:30, I'm stuck here another 5 hours!!! AHHHHHHHH!
Anyway the show. Great banter all night, it'll be great to relive it all with the boot. Why Go opener was a shot to the heart. They opened with it at Outsidelands, but this venue is so small, even the mezzanine was raging. Other highlights were Eddie bending backwards, hanging off his mic stand, did he touch his head to the floor? TREMOR CHRIST!!!!!!! YES! Probably my favorite live song and my first time getting to see it for myself. They haven’t played it since Italy ’06. Rats was amazing! Total nasty groove and so much fun. I didn't pickup on the Ben intro. Red Mosquito with Ben was sick and he wasn’t looking at Mike for approval this time. The Fixer was awesome, great audience participation. The new opening to Porch is really good. Nice crunchy chords that had me guessing what they were going into. I thought the crowd was so into it all night. Even up in the mezzanine near me some people were sitting, but everyone was clapping and singing along. Great night indeed! Can’t wait for the 10C tickets tonight! Sounds like all of the 10C tix are great, I’m #307XXX, my wife is going to pee her pants for sure! Am I going to be able to survive three more nights of this driving down from SB? Hell YES!

SEAMLESSLY! That's what makes it amazing. Someone commented that they played 7 new songs but they all blend in perfectly. Got Some followed the Why Go/Animal/WWS opener and felt a part of the rocking whole!
Unthought Known is a perfect compliment coming after EWBTCST and then builds, flowing into the frenetic energy of Evenflow. It's really a brilliant construct of working in the new stuff between the sing-alongs.
Amongst the Waves builds like Given to Fly--while it doesn't have the beat that gets you bouncing up and down, the chorus has such chill-inducing power.
And especially last night, as everyone has commented on the beautiful sound at the Universal Amphitheater (that's what it was called for its first 25 years in existence), having Just Breathe and The End with the strings competes with any other "moment" experiencing the wonder of a Pearl Jam show. They can rock you with ear-blistering guitars and titanic drum beats; and caress you with simple accoustic beauty, all blended with heartfelt melodies and the unspoken gift that is the Matt Cameron harmony.
I hope I hear Supersonic and Speed of Sound in the next four shows because these guys are clearly loving playing the new stuff!
Dangit! Stone's is the only one I need! We were front row, RIGHT in front of Stone, and I was just dreaming of getting his pick after Alive...but he kept chucking them out over our heads! 8^(
Then I look over at McCready and he's tossing them out by the handfuls! 8^)
my buddy, who was several rows back said "you know eddie can throw a frisbee, why the hell won't he toss some of those tamborines a little farther back? i know he can do it!"
i'm sure its more of the person in the crowd being able to catch it, not whether he is able to throw it farther.

Not much I can say... Blown away by Tremor Christ, thrilled by Rats, loved Insignificance, Life Wasted, Present Tense, and SOLAT.
Looking forward to tonight, hoping for another solid set. I figured it was going to be a hits list and I was surprised by what we got.
Much better than average crowd for LA.
Edit: And Ben Harper's RM solo is great. Love it.

Truly blessed to be witnessing this band!
bad ass.
Dangit! Stone's is the only one I need! We were front row, RIGHT in front of Stone, and I was just dreaming of getting his pick after Alive...but he kept chucking them out over our heads! 8^(
Then I look over at McCready and he's tossing them out by the handfuls! 8^)

i'm sure its more of the person in the crowd being able to catch it, not whether he is able to throw it farther.
