Just got home from one of the best shows Ive seen in a while! L.A. crowds are known to be ho-hum but I thought they were better than normal tonight. The band was on fire and seemed to have really enjoyed playing at the venue. Thought it was cool to see Ed pull the teen up on stage.. hahaha the kid looked completely overwhelmed!
Best show acoustically I've ever heard from PJ...for me it was "the End" "Insignificance" and "Black"...sound was impeccable. Crowd for an LA show was better than average...trust me I know.
PS - a crowd doesn't make a show...the music is what makes a show....write that down!!!
See you in San Diego....I want "Oceans" Eddie !!!

If you love the band enough to read my long-winded description, then you really can't afford to miss them. They're doing something that grows more special by the day. Making interesting/compelling new albums, and kicking ass live.
I think they know we expect it. And they are refusing to let us down. It sometimes hurts how much I love this band and how much I miss them when I don't have another show to attend.
Thanks for indulging me.
Thank you so much for your account. Unfortunately, I don't have a show lined up in the near future (although I saw them in Berlin a few weeks ago), but your post made my day
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.
I didn't at all notice the crowd being bad. But I've only ever seen them in California (except Mansfield, MA in 1992)- the crowd seemed to really rock out.
I was in the 12th row (row HH) Orchestra 3. And I have a pretty high membership number- 467*** I think.
10.19.91 Ames IA, 09.12.92 Irvine, 06.24.95 San Fran, 11.04.95 San Jose, 07.14.98 L.A, 07.21.98 Seattle, 10.22.00 Vegas "snuck into 10 year ann. afterparty", 10.28.00 San Bernardino, 10.31.00 Mountain View, 11.06.00 Seattle, 11.05.00 Seattle, 06.03.03 Irvine, 06.03.04 Irvine, 07.09.06 L.A, 04.13.08 LA (Ed Solo), 09.30.09 L.A., met Eddie Vedder! 10.07.09 L.A., PJ plays setlist I had input on with PW! Wow!
I can't say I blame them. They gave it everything tonight. I couldn't be happier that the 4 LA shows are separated by 4 days for me to recover. I'm almost 39 now, and while I dance and sing and fist pump my heart out at every show, I don't jump as much or as high. I;ve gotten old. And somehow, they haven't. .
Howard I'm right there with you. I first saw Pearl Jam when I was 22. I am now 39 and the concert tonight was amazing but DAMN it wore me out!!! This has never happened to me before at a concert. Getting older is for the birds.
I think they know we expect it. And they are refusing to let us down. It sometimes hurts how much I love this band and how much I miss them when I don't have another show to attend.
Thanks for indulging me.
I am moved by your words here. Seeing Pearl Jam live is the closest I ever come to a religious experience and they have meant alot to me for the last 18 years.
Oh my god. How great was the acoustics from Unthought Known?!??! My ten club seats were Orch 1 row DD ....Ed was all over the place! I can't get over how great the sounding was ...
Was lucky enough to get row 9 (173xxx). Orchestra 8, row AA, which is essentially first row, albeit on the side. Fantastic acoustics. Great show from the boys. Fyi, its fine to bring cameras in (as are flasks, if you want to spare yourself $13 Blue Moons)…security is lax, both at entrance and near the stage. When Eddie was looking to pass out tambourines during RITFW, I held up a PJ onesie that my wife and I had bought for our toddler, and he obliged by tossing me one. His showmanship was superb tonight. You guys are in for a treat for the rest of the Gibson shows.
Seats were close (10th row) but all the way on Mike's side.
You say that like it was a BADD thing. :?
The show was crazy good. With these fanviews lately, im seeing that everyone seems to pay attention to the crowd alot. WHO CARES! youre there to see the boys and have a GREAT time! If others dont want to, thats their problem!!!! L.A is definitely more chilled out than most but.......it was STILL high intensity tonite! ESPECIALLY with EVENFLOW sandwiched RIGHT between Unthought Known and Amongst the Waves!!!!!
and p.s TREMOR CHRIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I won the lottery and was sitting 2nd row dead center right next to the kid who got pulled up on stage. His dad is a fan and introduced his son to the band. His son got really into the band and knows all the songs...the son joined the 10C 3months ago and this was his first show!

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
All my favorites and songs I MUST hear were played tonight. Tremor Christ, Down, Just Breathe and the End with strings!!!! SOLAT, Force of Nature, Unthought Amongst the waves. Honestly that was the stuff I really wanted just missing Go and Given to Fly, hope they repeat most of that stuff at next weeks' LA shows which I will be attending. Yet another boot I just gotta have. Congrats everybody, that is now my favorite set list of this tour!!

made me think: "I really shouldn't miss any opportunity to see this band". So I thank you all for inspiring me to comb the boards/craigslist/ticketmaster to see what I could drum up for LA1--and I got a beauty.

First off, membership number 198XXX. Now then, whomever's idea it was to put the 10-club ADA/wheelchair folks like myself in the back row of the pit (row HHH), I want to kiss them and curse them at the same time. They were, hands down, the best seats I've ever had at ANY concert, not just Pearl Jam. I'm in a wheelchair, though (HOPEFULLY just temporarily), and there's 7 rows of people ahead of me, and NO ONE sits down at a Pearl Jam show (unless they can't stand up). I'm lucky in that I have use of my legs, I just can't stand up for very long. I really felt bad for the small lady in the wheelchair that didn't have use of her legs enough to stand, because there were some very tall people there tonight. For those glorious few stretches where I could stand, I was taller than everyone else and could see everything beautifully. The sound was amazing, probably the best out of any venue I've seen 'em in.
The setlist was out of this world. Why Go as an opener? YES PLEASE. There was a funky/hard rock-y intro to porch that was really cool, look for it on the boot. Tremor Christ was my "Blown out of the water" moment, and that came just a few songs in. Force of Nature was my one true hope for tonight, and I quite literally squeed like a little girl when Ed introduced it. I'm still blown away that there was only one cover song tonight. Rats was another surprise that I just had to yell out "WHAT?!" for (in the happiest way, of course).
Present Tense was prefaced by Ed telling a story after Mike had finished a particularly raucous solo at the end of Rats. Ed said "You know, before the tour, I went to the doctor because I wasn't feeling quite right, and he looked me over and put his finger... ON me, not in me. He said 'You've got some heavy metal in your bloodstream and it may have gone to your brain!' *crowd cheers* You're happy about that? Anyway, I said 'Doc, I think you're mistaking me for Mike McCready!'" who then launched into a riff from Maiden. Ed then said "He plays hard, but he's man enough to play slower songs like this one, even though he's playing a pretty metal guitar for it." noting Mike's Flying V. Big Wave was introduced as a song for you if your name was Larry.
I met some nice folks (brother and sister in their 50's) that were also ADA ticketholders, but they were far more hardcore than I, in terms of number of shows they'd been to. Also met a nice girl by the name of Janet (I think) with her boyfriend/husband. They were from Philly, and were going to all 4 shows to close out the Spectrum.

I'm 133xxx and somehow managed to get front row in the pit directly in front of Mike, first time ever for Pearl Jam. It's fairly overwhelming. To the guy who asked, they did plenty of Ben in Rats. Well aware of the shitty LA crowds, but I could only see the band and they were killing it. Setlist was crazy, too. Wow.
best sounding show I have ever seen at Gibson / Universal, and I had ticketmaster tix and was in the second to last row of the loge. the vocals were perfect. the set list was incredible, and from the back the crowd looked fantastic for a city that's hard to win over. i was extremely disappointed when the shows where announced at this venue, but now feel that my opinion was wrong. i actually am excited for the next three. this is actually the perfect sized venue for them and for this city, and besides, because of it we get 4 nights here! portland wasn't even full on the lawn.
