Anyone who bought the Dodger shirt have a pic of it? Did it sell out, i.e., should I get there early for the Laker shirt?

    Thanks!

it's a white shirt with the dodgers style pearl jam on the left breast and 30 on the back...by the time i got there at about 7:15 they only had smalls left :(

Ok cool thanks. Yeah I got there late for the show years ago at the Forum and was stuck with a medium. I'm 6'4" it looks like i'm wearing a baby size. I just couldnt walk away without buying one though. I'll get there early tonight.

  • This show was absolutely amazing. It was quite a different experience than I am used to at a Pearl Jam concert because i happened to see the setlist before the show (the sound guy left it out on the soundboard after Ben Harper finished his set). So I knew what was coming. That kind of ruined the element of surprise for the rest of the night...but when you see a set that includes Tremor Christ, Force of Nature, Insignificance, Rats, Present Tense, Red Mosquito, Porch, and State of Love and Trust, it really puts your anticipation for each song through the roof.

Our seats (I went with my Dad...this marked our 8th PJ show together) were dead center, 20 rows back. Definitely the best seats I've ever been in at a show. So with that, along with the stellar setlist, I was prepared for a hell of a show. And man, did PJ deliver. They started off charging right out of the gates with 6 straight rockers that really involved the crowd. The arena isn't very big...it only hold about 6000 people, but the crowd was as loud as I've ever heard. You could barely hear Eddie on Why Go and Animal with the crowd screaming every word along with him. Tremor Christ into Force of Nature was indeed an awesome combo. Tremor Christ had the crowd bouncing and swaying, and the band was completely into it. Ed tore apart the chorus and the bridge singing passionately at the top of his range. I feel really lucky to have seen TC live. Force of Nature sounded great as well and it's always special to see/hear a song's live premiere. Ed mentioned we'd be getting a lot songs with references to the ocean since we're so close to the beach here in CA. Even Flow is worth mentioning as well because of Mike's face melting solo played almost completely behind his head. I swear the guy it a savant. His guitar is just an extention of his body.

The highlight of the show for me, however, was the run of Insignificance, Rats, and Present Tense. Each one was played flawlessly and at this point the band seemed to be clicking on all cylanders. Insignifance pounded with its thundering riff, Rats plodded along with Jeff's funky bassline and then soared with the audience belting the chorus along with Eddie, and Present Tense sounded better than i've ever heard it live with the band building to a chill inducing credendo and break at the end of the song. It was all something magical.

Porch nearly ripped the roof off of the building. The crowd was so frantic by the end of the song that the energy in the building was actually palpable. You could tell the band was moved by intensity of the crowd and Ed seemed to feed off it all night. He seemed to be in great spirits and was extremely animated throughout the show.

The first encore was another highlight of the show for me. Ed sounded amazing on Just Breathe and The End and the string quartet definitely adds more to the songs in a live setting than on record. Red Mosquito would have been a highlight regardless, but holy shit I wish everyone could experience seeing it with Ben Harper on slide guitar. The guy standing next to me turned to me in a state of wonderment and said, "This is absolutely perfect. He was born to play on this song." Agreed.

State of Love and Trust not only sounded great, but it involved Eddie pulling a kid that looked about 14 or 15 years old from the crowd to sing the last chorus with him. It was a truly special moment, as the kid wasn't one of those obnoxious fans who hams it up upon getting the spotlight, but rather seemed overwhelmed by his fortune of being pulled on stage by his heroes. He stood open-mouthed with his jaw close to the floor as Ed walked him over to face Mike McCready as he shredded through his solo. I was so excited for that that kid. He seemed to realize that it was one of the coolest moments of his life as it was happening.

Alive was it's usual crowd pleasing, fist pumping self, and Rockin' In the Free Word was dedicated to a friend whose batalian was headed into the middle east for a 9 month call of duty, so it seemed a bit more emotional and packed a stronger punch than usual.

Overall, this was one of the best shows I've ever been to. Definitely in my top 3 PJ shows of all time. I'm still feeling the euphoria as I'm doing this write-up. I can't wait for the bootleg.

Comatose was on the set to lead off the final encore, and Indifference was supposed to close the show, but both weren't played. There was no way they could have pulled back themselves or the crowd for Indifference with the energy they had just generated with RITFW, so I forgive them for leaving it out.

yeah i was right behind the sound board and saw the setlist but i didn't go an read it...that would have ruined the show for me

Had 10c tickets; I have a pretty bad number in the 35X,XXX range. Anyways, the seats I got were awesome, Orc 5 maybe in the 16th row or so. Great view, a much better seat than the Forum show in '06 I went to. Also the acoustics in the Gibson are absolutely amazing.

Anyways, for the show itself, I think the best way to describe it is "exhausting." I'm at work today and still pretty exhausted from the show last night, I'm amazed that the band is able to do it night in night out. Just watching the show uses up so much energy!

I thought the crowd was a lot better than it was in '06, everyone seemed to be into it, and I could hear a lot of singing on most of the songs. It was a bit hard to hear at times simply because of how good the sound is in the amphitheater, though!

The setlist was absolutely amazing. While I would've liked to hear a couple of songs from Yield and maybe one song from Riot Act, the other selections more than made up for it. It really seems like on this tour they are trying to appeal to the more long term fans by bringing back some songs they haven't played much recently, and shelving some of the older/more popular songs (like Jeremy and Corduroy).

They started out with a huge amount of energy, starting off with a really strong Why Go/Animal/WWS. Eddie made a small comment to say hello and they went straight into Got Some, one of my favorites on the new album. It really stood up to the songs preceding it live, and I think I pretty much knew after this they were definitely firing on all cylinders.

Then they busted out Tremor Christ, I think there were a lot of people surprised by that. Eddie messed up the first verse a little bit, but everyone in the crowd got into it and sang along with it. After they finished that, Eddie spoke a bit more about their theme for tonight. They decided since they were so close to the ocean in LA, they were going to try to play as many water themed songs as possible. Then they mentioned they were going to premiere a new song off Backspacer, and I knew it was going to be Force of Nature. FoN was pretty damn awesome live.

They then played really one of the only slow songs in the opening set, Elderly Woman, and then sandwiched Even Flow between Unthought Known and Amongst the Waves. To echo what someone else said, the new songs do stand next to the old stuff really well. It always amazes me when Mike does the solo behind his back trick, but it's also depressing in a way that he can play the guitar behind his back 10x better than I can normally.

I thought Insignificance sounded especially awesome, I didn't really expect it to sound as good as it did live. Then they brought out Rats which also was pretty crazy.

At this point Eddie made the heavy metal doctor comment, and I honestly didn't know what to expect when Stone and Jeff went off stage. I was really psyched when they started into Present Tense. Yeah, they've played it a lot and especially recently, but I just love that song, probably one of my favorites off No Code. And they really nailed it.

Big Wave, I'm always happy to hear, Down and Fixer were really solid. Porch was just crazy as the closer. It had a cool solo start with Eddie and then the main solo section, Mike was absolutely shredding, and that solo went on and on, and was just awesome. The crowd was really into it when they went off stage for the encore break.

Just Breathe and the End sounded really good with the quartet in the amphitheater, and Red Mosquito was really rocking. Ben Harper can do some awesome slide guitar solos, that's for sure. Black was strong as usual, I tried to sing along but at this point my throat was pretty shot, and I'm sorry if people nearby heard my missed notes, haha. Life Wasted sounded really fast from when I heard it in '06, but it worked really well as the encore 1 closer.

For the 2nd encore, I was really pumped by SOLAT. Eddie bringing up that kid on stage was awesome, too! Alive and RITFW were rockin' as usual. It seemed like they were ready to go into another song, but then they made some gestures to each other and ended the show. I was a little sad they only played 3 songs in the 2nd encore, but the show as a whole was so up tempo for the most part that I wouldn't blame them if they were a little tired from it!

Overall it was a great experience, and I'm sad I can't go to any of the other shows, but unfortunately due to work, LA1 was my only show! But what a show it was.

Oh yeah. Scary fun highlight - the mezzanine bouncing during RITFW. It had bounced a few times during the show but we had the straight rhythm going at the end.

it's a white shirt with the dodgers style pearl jam on the left breast and 30 on the back...by the time i got there at about 7:15 they only had smalls left :(

I was hoping for a blue shirt with the Dodger-ish "Pearl Jam" across the front. I wonder if the Laker short will be yellow or purple?

  • I'm in a wheelchair, and managed to get a LOGE ticket at the last minute. Since 10c sells only pairs, I couldn't afford to get two at the same time, at the time, so I waited til general sale, and there was nothing for ADA really fast. Which is really strange, because I ended up behind orchestra, and there were several areas blocked off for wheelchairs, but only one other person in a wheelchair in them! Mostly people snuck up and filled those areas. I ran around to each one during the show, because I'm short, and I was having a hell of a time seeing.

I tried not to let that drag me down, but it was hard. This was my first show. I could see people sneaking down to the pit, and I couldn't do it. There was a locked up dumbwaiter, and despite my pleas, they wouldn't let me go down there, even though there was wheelchair spaces available. They gave me a super hard time about even putting me where I was! Plus, I kept being told I was in the way, yet they let standing people block the aisles. I called a guard out on that, and he looked sheepish, and finally made one guy scoot in, so I could see. It was really tough. I just kept getting tall people, talking to each other, holding things up.

Lots and lots of people texting and holding up cameras, too. But OK, enough with bitching. I hope I don't sound like a whiner! I still LOVED the show, and between the distractions got really into it, dancing on a wheelie :D But what I wouldn't give to see just one show from down close, to feel that energy and be able to see well. Seems like an almost insurmountable thing for someone with a disability, though.

    What an amazing show!

    Jeez,
Crazy. I know i don't really have any proof, and none of you have any real reason to believe me, but I was the kid on stage! Holy cow! This was not only my first Pearl Jam show, but my first concert of anyone, ever! I was scared out of my mind, but it was so awesome! I didn't quite get what Eddie wanted me to do over by Mike, so i just kind of, presented him, awestruck. Insanity. Mike and Eddie both gave me a pick, and I even got an autographed tambourine during RITFW! I just want to thank everyone for making it one of the best nights of my life, you guys are all so awesome! I literally can not stop shaking! I was also lucky enough to get one of the orange vinyls at my local record store about a week ago! I am about the luckiest guy on the planet!
