Ah, that's right. You knew it was coming. Since the Rangers fell on their face this weekend against the Twins and then blew up last night in that 18-10 loss to the Blue Jays, it is time for football.

Where are all my Cowboys friends?? And all of the Eagles and Giants fans too?? Let's go!

Prediction this year: If you believe in the addition by subtraction theory then the Cowboys improved this off season byb dumping TO, Tank Johnson, Greg Ellis, Roy Williams(S) and Pacman Jones. But they didn't really pick up anyone of real significance except maybe Igor Olshansky and over-the-hill Kieth Brooking. Gerald Sensabaugh is certainly an upgrade over Roy Williams. Now teams will have to find someone else to pick on. Pass rush will still be strong with Ware, Ratliff, et al.

On the offensive side of things, no additions but just getting Felix Jones back for a full season will be great. He and Martellus Bennett should have big years and the Cowboys will have their own version of the wild cat with Jones, Barber and Choice. Romo is no longer having to look at TO first and everyone else last, so that should free him up to make better decisions.

Still, this is a tough division, Romo and Cowboys still have not proven themselves past December 1st, and until they do something to change my mind on that:

Cowboys 10-6 and get in the playoffs as the wild card. Giants have Osi back and the Plaxico drama is gone and they have the best offensive line in the division if not the NFL. Eagles are the Eagles and barring a meltdown or major injuries will be there.

NFC East:
Giants
Eagles
Cowboys
Redskins

I think Felix Jones will be good but I'm not sure about Romo. But if Romo keeps throwing the ball to Witten, you can't go wrong. I thought you posted a reasonable prediction for a cowboys fan. I'm an eagles fan but am concerned about the drama between Vick and McNabb that is starting already. Vick was a bad move by Reid mainly because we don't need him and McNabb doesn't like sharing the spotlight. McNabb supported Vick because he thought the Philly fans would boo him but when Vick came out, the fans gave him a standing ovation which upset McNabb. I really thought it was going to be a good season with the addition of Maclin, but there may be too much drama, and McNabb and Reid can't handle drama.

I am also hoping for less drama this year....let the press focus on the scoreboard over the field and let the players play football.

  • I agree 10-6
Hopefully Romo without all the drama (unless he starts throwing the ball into the scoreboard) can finally concentrate on just being a QB and not worry who will be crying.
    Witten and Bennett -nice
    MBIII/Jones/Choice - nice
RWilliams - I think once they can get into a groove will be fine
    Not worried about DWare/Ratliff/etc

kinda funny how much the Cowboys wanted Pacman Jones last year and now he's in Canada.

Cowboy fan here, I think they'll go 11-5 if healthy, if not they'll miss the playoffs. I think the offense will be fine without Owens. Williams should pick up some of the slack, so will Jones plus Romo can just go to the open receiver without worrying about Owens. They also have a good running game that can control the clock which is always a key. GO BOYS GO.

hopefully Tony Romo throws for 4,000 yards with 40 TD's and no interceptions

then i hope the Dallas D gives up 80 td's.
81 is now off the air

  • Being a Boys fan, I have to post here. It's not easy being a Dallas fan in Pa either;)

I think they will finish at least 2nd in the NFC East and maybe first if everyone stays healthy. I like their defense to be in the top 5 this year. The offense will be much better off without Owens and I don't think anyone can stop Felix in the open field. Here's to another hopeful season and a Super Bowl win to tie the Steelers! We have to get over those December blunders someday :D

We'll see how hey do this year. I may be the only one, but I preferred all the crazy individuals on the team the past few years. Oh well, they'll probably be a better team this year, and still not make the playoffs.

I hear ya on being a Dallas fan in PA...can't wait for this season..think it's gonna be a good one..besides the fact Im going down to the first game in the new stadium...gonna be awesome!!!

Felix is going to be great as long as he stays healthy....I see a big season from him and Martellus, hopefully Romo protects the ball some more and I'd like to see Scandrick get the starting corner position over Jenkins at this point.

I think Scandrick is a better corner than Jenkins overall, but he's awesome at covering many team's 3rd wideout (something that'll be needed against the Eagles and Giants), and Jenkins is ok at going up against average 2nd wideouts (which is pretty much all their opponents have this year). So essentially I hope that he stays the 3rd corner just b/c of the benefits we get of him covering those guys that get 4 yards of 3rd downs. Does that make sense?

serious question from an Eagles fan - how much do you really think the scoreboard is going to be an issue? Do you think it will happen a lot that someone hits it? or is it much ado about nothing? Seems awfully low to me but haven't watched a game there yet. What are your thoughts on it?

What I don't understand about the video board over the field is this....its not 50 yards wide, so why not kick to the left or right of it?!?!?

Just booked my trip for the first game...We will be taking a tour of the stadium on Saturday morning before the Giants game and we will be on the field...I'm going to try and kick a ball up there myself...LOL

Nice! Let me know how that goes...

It looks like it will be Jenkins and Scandrick rotating as starting CB. Interesting...

Maybe they agree with my plan? If the Eagles are going to have an ok guy, an ok guy, and desean jackson/jeremy maclin, and the Giants are going to have junky receiver, junky receiver, and steve smith why not cover those guys with Scandrick, then when teams have two good wideouts (maybe the Seahawks with TJ Houshmanzedah and a healthy Deion Branch) start Scandrick.

Anyway what really needs to happen is Jerry Jones has to bite the bullet and go back and get Pacman who didn't pick anything off, but knocked everything down that was thrown his way last year. The Cowboys even have stats that show he was our best CB - too bad he's a freak show and JJ is back on his high horse (last time that happened we didn't get Randy Moss).

Plus it is already higher than the league minimum height. If it wasn't Dallas, this wouldn't even be a story.

Cutting Yoko Romo from the team in the off-Season is a good start.

    9-7 at best
Check out the schedule for the final month. Brutal.

I'm a fan, but I don't have much faith this year.

I said 10-6 but neither of the above would shock me either. December has been terrible around here and this year's schedule isn't helping any.
