Actually it is kinda interesting that there has been no word of any competitions yet. That was one of the first things were heard about the Astoria.
Besides 10C who else gave away tix?

One of the first things that came out about that gig was some European radio station giving away tickets. Maybe a Dutch or French station, I can't recall exactly. There may or may not have been other competitions that followed, I sorta stopped paying attention after I secured my tickets.

At least two of us have reports from confirmed sources that NO industry types have been allocated tickets for Shep Bush. If there ARE any going around they will have been few and far between despite previous shows...
so how come NOT A SINGLE PERSON (point me to the post if someone has) so far has reported having tickets for Level 1?
that can only mean 1 thing and it's that it's been reserved for "VIPs", which includes industry type. The fact they might not have yet been allocated doesn't mean they haven't been reserved.

They avoided answering my complaint about the huge profits touts make reselling tickets and my suggestion that it should be made illegal to sell tickets over their face value, which would solve the problem of touts making huge profits from fans, and also making sure fans only pay the recommended price of the event.
Surely this is the answer, if they won't make the whole business of touting illegal then it should be controlled, say 10% of face value added on at the most, so everyone has a chance to buy tickets. Lets face it who can afford to pay £200.00+ per ticket plus beer money, poster, t-shirt, accommodation, travel, especially if like me you need 2 tickets (gotta keep throwing it out there just in case!! :) ) especially when the face value is 400% less?

I have bought tickets from ebay before and I was grateful at the time, but it gets worse and worse each year.
so you're part of the problem.
Even if it was illegal (and it is to do so in the street in some parts of London.. doesn't stop them at all), they'd find ways around it.
It might limit the touting to the pros instead of every little opportunistic twat on eBay, but it won't eliminate it (and lets face it, it's the pros that get the best tickets, through backchannels we can't access).

The only way to stop touts is to not buy from them. ever.

Hear hear! (I don't think we'll ever convince the less moralistic people with too much money of this though...)
If you all stop hitting refresh for just two minutes, I can buy my tickets...

We talk about policing the touts but the fuzz have bigger things to worry about, like doughnuts etc. I once went to see Incubus at Astoria, tickets sold out in minutes and ten or eleven touts were outside the venue. If any of you know the Astoria (god bless it's soul) it's a very small place and it was crawling with touts. Two police walked straight past and the tout even tried to sell to them.

The point being, if the cops don't do anything about it then this will just continue. You hear of people being taken to court for downloading things from Limewire etc but never for touting. Worth a debate in parliment I think...
    :D Rock on!!!! :D
Seen Pearl Jam 4 times in London, once in Manchester, as well as an Eddie show at Hammersmith.

Hi folks, following on from all the fine work that AD has done and all the good feeling going around this thread in sad times for alot of you. I got to wondering if you people would be willing to pool some money to buy a pair of tickets? I used the maths of £5 for 77 people, which is how many are listed as needing a ticket. If I can get 77 of you, regardless of whether you got a ticket or not, to donate £5 I will put the final £15 (which is sitting on my desk as I write this) in to buy a pair which would be raffled off. I thought it would just help to make a couple more of us happy for that night?

Anyways if anyone is interested in doing this, let us know in the thread.

    Take care

this may or may not be of interest to some???

    Good Afternoon,

Unfortunately, we will not be selling any tickets on the door as the Pearl Jam gig is completely sold out.

    Regards,

    Kyla

Don, it's completely sold out but there are usually always some going on the night. Tix 'reserved' for 'guests/others' that don't get picked up, others may be from people picking up at the box office, but for some reason don't turn up (ill, etc.). Those tix are usually released just before the show starts or after 20 mins or so from the start. I say, if you live in London, might as well try.

I know of a few people with Level 1 (related to me via security). These people are defintely VIP 'connected' with industry. I'm not saying that the whole of Level 1 is the same, just saying there are reservations. But hey... this is how it goes with these kind of shows. I'm grateful that at least stalls, level 2 and 3 were available for the 'masses'. Not enough tickets of course, but some.

Back before the O2 and Manchester shows went on sale, I was so desperate to make sure I got tickets that I bought a 'How to get Pearl Jam tickets - best buy guide' from ebay, it was an ebook and cost me about a fiver. To be honest there weren't that many tips in there that I didn't already know, but there were a few bits, and to be fair to the guy who wrote it, he has been brilliant at emailing me every time there was a different presale link or new allocation of tickets on sale. So anyway, he emailed me yesterday saying not to give up hope if I didn't get tickets for SBE, and to be religious checking the ticket sites a few times a day because he believes ticketmaster have an allocation. Take from that what you will, but I think it is at least possible and well worth checking.

Although not on a record label they are using a record label (Island/Universal) to distribute the album outside the US ... could mean that.
So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?

    To Pegasus,

    Fair Point.

I guess I'm guilty as charged for buying of ebay, but it was for the 2007 Wembley after having missed out on Reading/Leeds and The Astoria gig and letting my membership expire due to having my second child. No excuse I know but I hadn't seen them since 2000 - 7 years is a long time when it could be another 7 years till they came back!!!:cry:

Never repeated and never will be.

    Apology finished

i think thats a pretty decent idea, the only thing is how would you get the 5 pounds from everyone youd probably have to get it before you bought the tickets or before you raffled them

and im not just saying that cause your giving me alift to the gig phil ;)

Well I guess it would be Paypal, checks/cash in the post. Recorded delivery to my works address would be best, Im there all the time and its a registered address that everyone can easily confirm by phone and or the internet.

Of coarse it all depends if people are willing to part with their hard earned money?

I have somehow missed all these posts :-(

Thanks for thinking of me see_the_world :) I didn't get any second or third link from HMV despite my three or four complaints but I have reported them to the Agents Association. Fingers crossed!

I would happily donate to a pool of cash to get some of us in BUT only if we don't buy from Ebay rip off merchants :0

Ticketweb says 'no support'. I'm hoping Eddie might do a bit on his own... wishful thinking, maybe but we haven't seen Ed solo here in Europe...
  • I'm quite interested in the notes about Level 1, I may have defended my previous music industry work / friends but I am still very very curious to know about ticket allocation for the industry.

I'm going to have a brain storm. I once temped for a very nice, high up in legal and business man at U Music - I think I may have to use my joker card here just for our combined benefit and contact him and ask him if he knows anything. If that WHOLE level was reserved for industry then that is something I would really, really like to know not least because I have industry chums who insist that no tickets were on the move in the industry.
  • redrockredrock Posts: 18,341
The whole of Level 1 for 'industry/VIP/press/guests & those that tag along' seems excessive. It's about 300 seats, isn't it? Seems a lot. Wondering if some seats WILL surface eventually......
