Then why bother with the Conan show June 1st? Ok, Pearl Jam is playing new songs, to promote an upcoming album 3 months away? You don't take such a high profile show to promote something that's not ready for the public within a reasonable amount of time.

Ok, so digital download available June 2nd while hard copy/expanded cd available in the fall.

    Let's see.
    9/29/96, 8/29/98, 9/8,11/98, 7/28/99, 8/23,24,25/00, 10/13/00, 4/15/03, 4/30/03, 7/8,9,12,14/03, 10/1/04, 9/30/05, 10/1/05, 5/4,5,13,27,28/06, 6/1,3/06, 6/19,20,22,24,25,27/08, 7/1/08, 8/4,5,7,16/08, 8/21/09, 10/27,28,30,31/09, 5/15,17,18,20,21/10, 9/2/12, 10/18,19,21,22,25/13

June 2nd seems a bit early. I could see sometime in July at the earliest, most likely Aug/Sept though.

a lot of things are temporary at the moment, seems as if UMG has the distribution rights to it, in which case if 10C decided to release it under the 10C/Monkeywrench label themselves, UMG would have no bother in promoting that, because they'd make their money through distribution sales, number of albums shipped etc.

I'd say its very plausible for PJ to "pull a radiohead" in the sense of releasing the album to 10Clubbers first...

But let's definately agree on the fact that the single (to be played on Conan) will be available June 2nd. Theres NO REASON why it would be any other date.

anyway thanks benjs for posting the poster up there. looks very legit, especially with the Universal logo. yeah, all real signs point toward the fall. these little appearances over the summer (Conan included) are just warm-ups of what's to come. fleshing stuff out, tweaking, etc.

Also, in terms of "pulling a Radiohead", I'm pretty sure Radiohead had the record label only involved for the physical distribution of their album - not the digital download. I don't know about the technicalities behind doing "package" deals involving digital and physical mediums, but I wouldn't doubt that the band are looking doing something like that, where the band can deal with the digital distribution themselves, and let a label handle the physical distributions.

According to the guy who listened to the disc yesterday, the album doesn't even have a name yet. It's be a pretty big stretch to come up with a name and print a few hundred thousand copies and then ship them for distribution.

It will be released when it's released, I promise. Meanwhile enjoy the shit-tons (is that a word?) of PJ music that is already available to us.

My guess, no way they will release the album digitally, and certainly not three months ahead of the official release date. They have always put a lot of effort into designing a package that you can hold and appreciate when you listen-I don't see that changing. But hey anything is possible!

First of all, it's not AT ALL like a digital release is exclusively digital.
Second of all, if they want to get this album into the hands of the fans sooner rather than later, I don't see why they couldn't release it digitally early (giving the fans the ability to hear it early) and then physically later (giving the band the time they require to make this album's artwork the way they want it).
