We shall see.

There's no denying their talent. But i think they are marked for a surprise ending this year.0 -

That could be true, I have a reserved feel for that sort of scenario. However, when you've been a fan since childhood in 72' one has just got to ride the wave. The Pats have seen some really ugly years indeed.
Again we shall how this all turns out, this is a fun year in BEANTOWN.

Im calling a patriots loss in the afc championship.
the colts lost and not the pats won? whatever you say dude. a win is a win and a loss is a loss.
and don't try to tell me the cowboys/pats game was close - it was over half way through the 3rd quarter if not earlier. kyle eckel scored a TD! i mean, come on, beating one of the top 2-3 teams in the nfc 48-27 is not considered a close game.
i could totally see the pats losing any game the rest of the year, but right now the next game is sunday night at gillette vs. the eagles. one game at a time, one game at a time...0 -
jimed14 wrote:actually, with the Jets and the Rams winning this week, and the 49ers still losing, we may be up to a #2 pick by now!
it does highlight something ... the pats are just smart ... smug and cocky, yeah ... but, c'mon ...
they traded thier #1 pick in 2007 (28 overall) to the 49ers last year for the 49ers first round pick in 2008 and the 49ers 4th round pick in the 2007 draft.
Oh, then the Pats turned around and traded that EXACT same 4th round pick to Oakland for Randy Moss. And now, they'll probably be in the top 5 of the '08 draft, which they'll turn into a bunch of other good stuffs (no way they keep that pick) .... the depth they've achieved by trading down has been unbeleivable.
i was trying to be conservative on the 49ers pick.
i can't imagine they'll keep a top 5-10 pick unless there is a player available that they cannot pass up on (ie - a D lineman in the mold of richard seymour). the amount of guaranteed money is just too much.0 -

Colts pretty much choked at the end of that game. Pats took advantage of it, but the colts really came up short.
I wouldnt say being down to the cowboys towards the middle/end of the third quarter = a blowout. They put on all those points after the game was out of reach. Granted the cowboys defense played terrible that game, but the cowboys proved to be competition for the pats.0 -

but it won't matter, because you think the pats won't even make the superbowl ... so ... why do you even care about the Pats?
Cowboys v Packers ... now there will be a good game!"You're one of the few Red Sox fans I don't mind." - Newch91

I dont think Pats will make the superbowl. I just dont agree with everyone crowning them as the best team ever.
Cowboys Vs Packers will be a good game. Big Favre vs Little Favre0 -
I'm not crowning them best team ever. They are good very good but there's a long way to go. You feel they will fall a some point in the playoffs wwe shall see.

They are going to see a lot of amped up teams come playoff time. They have played very well in previous years, but now they have a bullseye on them.
Its going to be interesting no matter how it turns out though.0 -

colts "choked" = pats winning in my book.
i don't care how the cowboys defense played that day, if they were terrible (an excuse) or awesome, they still lost.
the pats were behind 24-21 until about 5 mins left in the 3rd quarter, scored a TD and never looked back. i would think outscoring your opponent 27-3 over the last 17 mins of the game and ultimately winning by 3 TDs is a blowout.

that's ridiculous. i can't wait to see what the lines are going to be against the jets and dolphins. fyi - the steelers are 16 point favorites over the dolphins this week.0 -
per rotoworld:
Donovan McNabb (ankle, thumb) did not practice Wednesday.
Eagles coach Andy Reid said McNabb's ankle has swelled up since Monday, after saying then that his jammed thumb was more of a concern. McNabb could be listed as questionable, not practice all week, and still play against New England.0 -
some interesting stuff i came across:
Las Vegas has set the betting line for Sunday's game between the Patriots and Eagles, and New England is a 23.5-point favorite.
ESPN's Sal Paolantonio writes on ESPN.com that this is the largest point spread in NFL history for a game that does not involve an expansion team.
"Nowadays, you don't see too many spreads over 16 or 17 points," Sean Van Patten, an oddsmaker at Sports Consultants in Las Vegas, told Paolantonio. "That's because most teams take their starters out in the fourth quarter of a lopsided game. The Patriots don't. I call this phenomenon The [Bill] Belichick Factor."

from john madden:
"It's the best offense I've ever seen. I said the other night that Tom Brady is playing the position of quarterback, right now, better than I've ever seen anyone play it in my history. Where they go as the best team [of all time], I think offensively they are right there. I think the best offensive teams that won were probably the San Francisco 49ers, in my mind, and I think this [offense] -- the way they're playing right now -- is probably better. Again, I put the whole thing together with the offensive line and the receivers and the quarterback and everything. When you go to 'team', then you have to put in defense. Their defense isn't the Pittsburgh Steeler defense, it's not one of those. It's not the '85 Bear defense. So you can say historically, when you put it together, I'm not sure they're the best team ever but I am sure -- in my mind, just my observation -- that they're the best offensive team I've ever seen."

randall gay from espn gamenight regarding everyone talking about the pats running up the score:
"Basically, you have to ignore those people because this is a job. We're out there, and what are we supposed to do? Like we scored on defense, when Ellis [Hobbs] caught the fumble, should he have taken a knee because we were up by so much? We're out there to do our job, just like they're out there to do their job. It kind of makes me mad when you hear somebody from the other team's defense going 'they shouldn't have done that; that's disrespect.' Do we think it's disrespect when they went and picked up their checks for letting a team score 50 points on them? That should be disrespect, that you went to your owner and said 'All right, pay me for that game I just played.' You can't look at it like that. You have to go out there and do your best. If somebody is blowing you out, you have to play harder. You have to stop them."

more john madden:
"I think New England, especially offensively, is as close to perfect as you can be. They are obviously the best team in the NFL and I think the gap is pretty big. The argument would be who is second and for a long time everyone kind of agreed that it was the Indianapolis Colts, and because of injuries and so on that they have now, it's probably not. You probably have to go to Dallas and Green Bay.
"Having said that, it's just a joy to watch these guys because as a coach, you always think 'What would I do defensively? What would I take away? Would I rush Brady? Would I cover?' If you rush him and blitz him, he's going to get rid of the ball quickly, about the same percentage he does if you drop back. There is no answer to anything that you can do to him that is going to be successful. The real answer would be that you have to get pressure on him, but you have to get pressure on him with a four-man rush. There are not many teams -- there aren't any teams -- that can do that because like I said the other night the most underrated part of this team is their offensive line.
"If you were going to stop them, you would have to double Randy Moss all the time. You would have to always have seven guys in coverage, and have a four-man rush that can put pressure on him. That's good in theory. The problem with that is that their offensive line is as dominant as the rest of the parts of their offense, and they won't let you do that."0 -

Madden has had a man-crush on Brady since Superbowl XXXVI ... when he initially stated he didn't agree with the Pats going for the win with under two minutes left just after the Rams scored to tie the game ... then after they put together a few plays, he warmed up to the idea, then after the Wiggins catch and spike, Madden went into full blown "I'm on record as saying I don't agree with them going for it here, but, what Tom Bady and the New England Patriots just did, gives me goose bumps."
I have that game Tivo'd on "Never Delete" from an NFL Network rebroadcast ... love watching that ... I could watch the Ty Law pick 6 over over again and again (oh, and to prove I'm not a complete homer, Vrabel should have been flagged for a blow to the head on Warner on that play, these days, no doubt he gets flagged for that).
Madden owns a shit load of property in Pleasanton, CA, just outside of where my girl lives ... you can find him playing bocce in a local italian restaurant there in the off season ..."You're one of the few Red Sox fans I don't mind." - Newch91
