Michael Kay said that the yanks will face the indians in the ALDS and the red sox will face the angels? Is that right guys?

    If so,
PHEW! The Indians will be tough but I think we have a better shot than if we had to see the freaking Angels AGAIN!

i think you are right... they will be facing the indians in the first round.

it's going to be an interesting playoffs in the AL i think. if the yanks beat the indians first round, would you want them to play the sox or angels? angels own the yankees, and i could not take the possibility of the sox beating the yanks again in the ALCS.

    fuck em.

they play who they play, i for one think they can beat the angels. remember unless the pitchers on the angels have made some drastic adjustments to mechanics, the yankees should have a better idea about them simply because they have a catcher who knows about them - Jose Molina.

Breaking the "Rules:" As Torre confirmed in New York on Monday, the Yankees plan to use Chamberlain on back-to-back days at some point in their final stretch to prepare him for a similar assignment in the postseason.

That could happen as soon as this week, though Torre said he would wait until the Yankees clinched a playoff spot before experimenting with the 22-year-old setup man.

"Once we win a game, we can do a lot of stuff," Torre said.

Additionally, the Yankees plan to schedule a day for Roger Clemens (left hamstring tweak) to throw in a simulated game sometime before the playoffs begin. Torre said that he had no problem in waiting on Clemens as a member of his potential American League Division Series rotation because of the 45-year-old's impressive resume.

"We're waiting on him because of who he is and what he is," Torre said. "It's not that he needs to pitch because he's Roger Clemens. It's that you want him to pitch because he's Roger Clemens and he can do things that other people can't do."

the public on sale date is friday (9/28) at 10 AM for any tickets that aren't claimed by lottery winners.

there will be plenty of tickets left over, maybe not for every game but definitely for some.

last year, i got tickets through the public sale for game 2 of the ALDS and game 6 of the ALCS. the ALCS seats were actually pretty good, or at least they would have been if the game had been played.

And to think I remember the '96 playoffs when my bleacher seat was about 11 bucks for the first round, 18 for the LCS and 25 for the World Series..

doesn't really matter to me, but for travelling reasons only, i'd like to see them play boston. a seven game series between LA with going back and forth might have a negative impact going into the world series. then again, maybe not. but i'm gonna stick with i'd rather have boston than LA.

    ugh I know.
Yanks Red Sox is too much drama but I agree, I don't want to see the Angels in a playoffs ever again. And All that schlepping across the country? It's too much!

let's worry about the angels/red sox when we get there. we can't look past the indians, we may have won all six against them in the regular season but that often means little (see 1988 mets vs. dodgers).

by the way, a possible meetup idea might be watching some of the road postseason games somewhere.

General admission started being phased out in the middle of the '99 season, then went full assigned seating by the start of 2000. The now infamous beer ban took place by Memorial Day weekend that 2000 season and the section hasn't been the same since.

true, esp. in these short series but I like to think positively!

ooh that sounds like fun! I get really loud watching a ballgame, I'm hooting and hollering at the tv set.

the last time I went to an ALDS was a game vs Minnesota. I forget what year it was? '04 or '05?

I've never been to a World Series

that sounds right, i remember going to a thursday afternoon yankees-athletics game in september and the seat was assigned for section 43, which was strange because two nights earlier it was general admission.

wasn't the beer ban right before the red sox series in 2000?
