All Charley's blood tests, etc. came back negative. So, no heartworm, thank goodness, no cancer, no other horrible diseases (according to his blood), and not cryptococcus gattii. So, it is just bronchitis/pneumonia/kennel cough...Yay! That's all treatable with antibiotics, which we are having fun shoving down his face...NOT!
He coughs when he gets excited or runs around...so we have to keep him quiet for about two weeks....that's gonna be fun...
Anyway, GOOD NEWS and we are VERY relieved!!
Thanks again for your support pit puppy people!!be philanthropic0 -

Glad to hear it with Charlie!!!!
My oldest developed a wart on the underside of her foot about two months ago. It had the same texture of a toe pad and protruded between the large base pad and her left two toes of her left front foot. It was small, about the size of the tip of my pinky finger. She otherwise left it alone, didn't appear to hurt her or affect her so I let it be. About two weeks ago, she started to limp, noticably. Took another look at it, close to doubled in size which earned her a trip to the vet.
They drew a little fluid from it, not enough to make a determination so she went for surgery yesterday to have it removed. It wasn't nearly as messy as they thought it would be (good since any growth that is malignant usually destroys surrounding tissue because it has imbedded itself so much) and because of that, they left it up to me if I still wanted it to go to pathology (yes, definitely. I don't want to find out in a year she's riddled with some cancer that started from this wart). She's home, happy dog. Her foot is a little sore, the bandage came off tonight. But she's doing well.....believe it or not, we don't "need" anything. that is only the spoiled brat in us trying to fill some temporary solution to an emptyness that does not exist.

thanks!
seriously, I think we did! my cousin is a vet but she doesn't live close by, otherwise I would go to her. When she first started, she took a job with a large practice to gain the experience. One of the philosophies of that practice was to make money....a big focus of the practice. She's since taken a job at a small office, the owner being a guy who's looking to retire in a few years and needing someone to continue the business. Good vets are hard to find, worth their weight in gold. My vet is excellent....doesn't spend my money unless he believes its the right thing to do. Plus he's great with my dogsbelieve it or not, we don't "need" anything. that is only the spoiled brat in us trying to fill some temporary solution to an emptyness that does not exist.

Whizbang: So glad to hear your pooch is doin' OK! I hate lumps on dogs...our departed Pinkerton (Pinky) had a lipoma that started out the size of a pea, so we didn't get it removed. But in short course, it seemed to grow to the size of a VERY large avocado -- and then she was too old for surgery. It never seemed to bother her, though.
Anyway, glad to hear that all went well with your puppy!be philanthropic0 -

I was a bit worried about her losing a toe - common with a growth on the foot that has to be removed. I think it was in the "right" spot to spare the toe (almost at the web of her toes). She's walking gingerly on it but she's got all her toes still! The technician reported that as soon as she came from recovery and they offered her a treat, she sat perfectly for it! She's a Lab, alright.
Cute photo of Charlie!!!believe it or not, we don't "need" anything. that is only the spoiled brat in us trying to fill some temporary solution to an emptyness that does not exist.

Love the dog! Love the name! "Common" names crack me up - like Norm and Larry. Had a roommate years ago with a Schnauzer named Chuck. If I had known then what I know now...

Did Paws for a Cause this AM...
We borrowed a dog from someone with two dogs...and it was raining like people were dumping buckets of water on us! Blech! Raised $740 total, which was pretty darned good. The person who won top individual fundraiser earned $1350! Wow! Anyway, more than a few pooches will be spayed and neutered, thanks in part to you AWESOME Message Pit people!!
The weather is making poor Charley cough like mad - and thus, the puking has returned. Yuck! Otherwise he's OK. Remy is doing fine...no coughing from her yet!
And Congrats to TrixieCat!! Larry looks like he could be quite the giggle!be philanthropic0
