Here's the story on the fishing. My inside pet turtle PJ some how got out of his Indoor 50 gallon pond and escaped the house. We thought he was gone for good. A couple of nights ago I was feeding the fish in my outside pond and guess who came to the surface looking for some food? Yes PJ! He had found the pond! I thought about catching him right away and bringing him back inside, but decided he looks so happy and healthy out in a 1500 gallon pond, hunting, sunning and swimming the way nature intended him to do, so he is staying out for the Summer and Fall. I have to keep him people friendly so I can eventually catch him, so I've been hand feeding him. Petey was not happy about me giving PJ one of *HIS* raw fish, so he jumped in and tried to take it away from PJ. He then decided to try and catch the fish too...snorkeling, it was a riot.

My dogs are really pushing each other for dominance at the moment and it's starting to get annoying. Everytime I pat one, the other comes over and pushes its nose under my arm or hand to try and take my attention off the other one. Floyd the Dalmatian was in bed the other day with my bf and Ziggy the Boxer jumped up, walked on top of Floyd and laid down and put all his weight on him so she was in between my bf and Floyd. Floyd let us this really high pitched "fuck off" bark/noise and she shit herself and jumped up.
And when I get home from work, they both run out and jump on the fence all excited and if I pat one and not the other (I try to do it in turns), the other will jump on the back of the other one and start humping! ha ha ha
Any advice? Should we just let them figure it out?
I've also been wondering if we should be spending alone time with each of them eg just take one for a walk in the morning and one in the afternoon every now and then (instead of both together).

I can relate. For 30+ years we've had 2 dogs at a time. For several years we even had 3. So these kinds of things always come up.
When it comes to affection, I try to pay attention to both dogs as much as I can. It's the same as you described. If I start to play with or pet one, the other comes running so they both get some lovey time. But they're not like humans--if you spend individual time with each one, that's great for each dog, but they won't rationalize it and demand less affection from you when they see you petting the other dog! They will still want as much love and attention as you will give them. So I just try to balance it out, making sure that they're both getting enough of my time. Our dog Penny is a rescue and I'm taking her to training so she sometimes gets more of my time but we make sure that Django gets plenty of attention too.
As far as working out the "pack" hierarchy, I leave that to my fur-kids to work out between themselves (with enough supervision to make sure that nobody ever gets hurt). What I've seen over the years is that every time we introduce a new dog to the household, the dogs take a while to sort out their relationships. It takes a little time but eventually they work out the pecking order. And the dog who's being bossed around now ends up being the top dog eventually.
I'm completely devastated. I'm hoping that the Chicago shows are going to be a catharsis for me.
Thanks everyone for sharing pictures of your pooches. They look awesome.
