And hey what do you know Sandis Ozolinsh is missing. Have you guys heard about this . Maybe he drove his car DWI into a lake somewhere. They shouldve had a lojack on that guy when they let him come back.
So he may retire instead of playing or even being down in Hartford.
how about it.
who the fuck took our powerplay and how the fuck do we get it back ?1-9 ? ?

bye bye Adam Hall ? ?
Power Play Unplugged
The past few games, the Rangers lost because they couldn't stay out of the penalty box. Last night in Florida, it was the Panthers who couldn't stay out of the penalty box, and still the Rangers lost. The Rangers may have given away a 2-0 lead and the game in the third period, but they lost the game in the first period when they squandered five straight power plays, including a double minor and a lengthy five on three that was shortened by an Adam Hall penalty. Yes, they scored on their sixth power play of the period in the final seconds when someone (Karel Rachunek) finally decided (was forced by the expiring clock) to shoot the puck -- but the Panthers still came out of the period lucky to be down by one when the rout should have already been on.
In the end, the Rangers went 1-for-9 on the power play -- they are 4-for-45 in their last six games, 2-for-36 if you exclude their 2-for-6 in the loss to the Isles. They had two more chances with the man advantage after the Panthers tied the game at 2-2. They were in the midst of a pressure-packed power play when Petr Prucha was incredibly called for the only penalty despite a half-dozen worse infractions by the Panthers on a post-whistle scrum. Less than a minute later, Rosti Olezs scored the game winner with the teams skating four on four.
With the Rangers power play fizzling, Florida of course scored on one of their few advantages to start their third period comeback -- Michal Rozsival had gone out to play the point off the draw (why?) and Blair Betts failed to cover for him, leaving Chris Gratton all alone in front for the deflection. Jaromir Jagr's stubborn refusal to give up the puck led to him turning it over for a Nathan Horton goal 21 seconds later, and poof!, two good periods of work (except on the power play) were out the window.
As predicted in this space yesterday, Brad Isbister came in hungry and, after a rough start, scored his first goal as a Ranger in the first period, deflecting Rachunek's power play shot, and played well after that. He nearly scored the equalizer in the final minute. So what's the over-under on how many games he has now earned? We'll start taking bets at 20.
Meanwhile, one game after telling us that Ryan Hollweg is going to start getting more responsibility, Tom Renney gave the plugger less than six minutes of ice time as a fourth liner. And what of the two young players Renney praised for their smarts? Ryan Callahan was in Hartford, having never gotten the type of ice time Isbister got in his Ranger audition (see Blueshirts Blog for Renney's explanation on choosing Isbister over Cally). And Jarkko Immonen played his second game as fourth line center after earning good notices as second line center while Jason Ward, on the ice for all three Panther goals, was first line center despite being a career third line winger.
Game reports: News, Newsday, Post, NYR.com, Miami Herald, Sun-Sentinel, and Palm Beach Post. At SI.com, more on Shanahan after the silver stick ceremony, as well as a look at key players at the WJC, including Marc Staal. From the Courant, an article on Jessiman and Montoya from Bruce Berlet, and the Wolf Pack week ahead. Charlotte was shut out. Ozo No Show
Sandis Ozolinsh still hasn't shown up in Hartford, Bruce Berlet of the Hartford Courant tells us. Wolf Pack GM-coach Jim Schoenfeld said he doesn't know what is going to happen with Ozolinsh and is awaiting word from the Rangers. Ozolinsh's agent was having some personal problems that might be holding up the waived defenseman's decision between playing in the AHL and retiring. So far, Ozolinsh hasn't said anything 48 hours after clearing waivers about his future. Even if he shows up Friday, Schoenfeld said he wouldn't play this weekend unless the Pack suffered a slew of injuries Friday night against Springfield. For the ones who had a notion, a notion deep inside

REUNION DEAL WITH RUCINSKY
By LARRY BROOKS

Martin Rucinsky

December 23, 2006 -- TAMPA - Jaromir Jagr has scored in only one of the last seven games. His risks are yielding few rewards. His left shoulder continues to be a sore spot. His on-ice body language is etched in frustration.
Jagr, who carried the Rangers last season, needs help. And that's why, when the roster freeze expires at midnight on Wednesday, management will seriously consider bringing Martin Rucinsky back from St. Louis for what would be a fourth term on Broadway.
If the Rangers didn't quite earn their recent five-game winning streak, they sure have earned the four-game losing streak they tote into tonight's match here against the Lightning.
The Blueshirts had weaknesses last season, but they were minimized by a combination of factors, not the least of which was Jagr's magnificent year.
And that was borne largely out of the comfort zone the Rangers were careful to craft for No. 68. Now, the team may need to recreate that environment for Jagr. Re-acquiring Rucinsky, a close friend, would go a long way toward that end.
But there are issues to consider. Rucinsky, who signed with the Blues as a free agent this summer after the Rangers refused to offer him a two-year deal, got just that from John Davidson and the Blues. This means that a player on an over-35, multi-year deal, Rucinsky's $2.375M cap hit will be applied against his team next season whether or not he is on the roster.
This essentially represents a no-cut clause, and means that Rucinsky, who turns 36 on March 11, will have a spot in the 2007-08 lineup.
And that means next year's team would probably feature Jagr, Rucinsky, Michael Nylander (who must be signed), Brendan Shanahan (ditto) and Martin Straka (ditto, unless he returns to the Czech Republic). That's a lot of age packed into the top two lines.
But a deal for Rucinsky might be necessary to save this season. Rucinsky, who is currently playing with a broken jaw, has made it clear that he would waive his no-trade clause in order to rejoin the Rangers. That, however, does not guarantee that JD would be amenable to moving Rucinsky (6-15-21) in a sum-zero deal.
If Davidson - who, according to a well-placed source, has already talked to Glen Sather about the availability of impending free agents Keith Tkachuk, Billy Guerin and Eric Brewer (as well as Petr Cajanek) - asks for a young asset in exchange for Rucinsky, it will be difficult for the Rangers to strike a deal, regardless of his importance to Jagr and in the room.Reading 2004

Soggy Saturday in NYC [updated]
The Rangers may be interested in bringing Martin Rucinsky back to New York to make Jaromir Jagr happy, according to Larry Brooks of the Post, but they won't trade a young asset to acquire the veteran winger and his restrictive over-35 two-year contract. Michael Nylander and Henrik Lundqvist are expected back tonight for the Rangers' game in Tampa, according to Steve Zipay of Newsday. John Dellapina's article on Nylander that should have appeared in today's Daily News is posted instead in his Blueshirts Blog, along with some other stuff (like Marcel Hossa a likely scratch tonight). Game preview at NYR.com, as well as a brief one in the St. Pete Times.
Jed Ortmeyer scored with 1:11 left in a 1-1 game to give a superlative Al Montoya the win in Hartford -- see stories in the Hartford Courant and Springfiled Republican. More in NYR.com's daily prospect update. Hockey's Future has ISS's look at the top WJC prospects, with Marc Staal the only one of five Ranger participants to make the list. In other reading, Dave Maloney discusses the topic of physicality at MSGN.com, Wes Goldstein analyzes the Rangers' recent slide at CBS Sportsline, and Spector has a bit about Brian Leetch at Fox Sports that Dellapina shoots down in his Blueshirts Blog post. For the ones who had a notion, a notion deep inside

from NYR.com:
As amazing as Jagr's NHL career has been (600-plus goals, highest-scoring European, etc.), there is surely no statistic more eye-popping than what he has done when playing in Uniondale. Something about the Nassau Coliseum brings out the very best in Jagr, and you need to go back more than a decade to find a game in which he didn't score at least a point there.
Since the 1995-96 season, Jagr has a phenomenal 23-game regular-season point scoring streak at the Coliseum. He has scored two or more points in 14 of those 23 games, including each of his last seven visits and all six in a Rangers uniform. In fact, as a Ranger, Jagr has 18 points in six games on the Island, Last season alone, Jagr had two four-point games in Uniondale. In one of the games when he fell short of four, he managed a hat trick. For the ones who had a notion, a notion deep inside
