The last time the Flyers won the Cup was in 1975.

    1940, anybody?

Yes, Detroit swept the Flyers in the 97 SCF's. But they did eliminate a certain team in the ECF's.

Prior to winning the Cup in 94, when was the last time the Rags won it?

    1940, anybody?

The Rags have won four Cups since their inception, only two more than the Flyers. And the Rags are a member of the original six. What does that tell you?

The next time you try and take to the pedestal with alleged greatness, look in the putrid mirror, Rag fan. You're far, far from recourse.

Now roll those eyes some more and get me a pastrami sandwich. :D

The last time I checked any stats that meant anything and one team or person had more wins. That usually means they can crow about it. Now get on to the poor Laughs who haven't won since 1967 and are content to have a full stadium every game and maybe make the playoffs and the fans get more froth in the mouth every year. :)

    4>2 Pretty simple stuff. ;)

hey 2029 isnt that far off, you guys are more then halfway there !

then it will have just as much significance that 1940 did ( back then ,..... unfortunately, by now, thats old news ) Maybe theres another quirky, more original comeback then "1940" . Thats so pre- 1994 !

and heres another couple of rolls for you

Oh and Fedoruk was released from St Vincents yesterday at noon. Wonder if we wil see him back in the lineup on 3/31 .

Back to the subject at hand ,

I read today That Slats is in talks with Nylander to extend his contract another 2 years , which coincidentally enough extends to the end of Jaromirs contract ( NYRs option ) .

    Double sided weekend matinees,
    on Saturday & Sunday .

    ugh
    that sucks.

    No Run For Richter

Personal reasons keep Richter from political raceAssociated Press

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Retired New York Rangers goalie Mike Richter has decided not to run for Congress against Republican U.S. Rep. Chris Shays, a Democratic party leader said today.

Richter, a 40-year-old Democrat who lives in Guilford, said last month he was considering a run for the Fairfield County seat in 2008.

State Democratic Chairwoman Nancy DiNardo said Richter told her Wednesday that he has decided not to run.

"It was personal reasons," DiNardo said. "He just feels it's not the right time for him now."

Richter has three young sons and is attending Yale University with an undergraduate major in ethics, politics and economics.

A series of concussions forced Richter into early retirement in 2003 after 15 seasons with the Rangers, the club he backstopped to the Stanley Cup title in 1994 after a 54-year drought. Richter was a three-time All-Star and the MVP of the 1996 World Cup, in which he led the United States to a gold medal.

Richter could not be reached for comment Thursday by telephone or e-mail.

Shays was considered vulnerable last year because of his support for the Iraq war, but managed to defeat Democrat Diane Farrell for a second time. Connecticut's two other Republican congressional representatives lost their seats in a nationwide sweep that saw Democrats take control of the House for the first time in more than a decade.

Richter does live not in the 4th Congressional District, but Connecticut law does not require a congressional candidate to live in the district in which her or she is running.

thats gotta suck for the bruins.

first shelled 7-0 in a shutout.

then, it looks like clear sailing for a 1-0 win,

but then with 100 seconds left the R's score and it goes to OT.
WE all know what happens if Henrik makes it to the shootout.
    :D

    dippy looked good,

    but he's no henrik.

it was interesting hearing the Garden East crowd alternating chants succinctly :
