So, you would prefer that he (and everyone else) treat it as some random event, like an earthquake or tsunami? I don't see the propoganda - he said there is an enemy that has waged war on us, and that the war won't end until we or our enemies win. Why is that propoganda? He's just stating reality.
And you ask me what I want this year
And I try to make this kind and clear
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
Cuz I don't need boxes wrapped in strings
And desire and love and empty things
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days

That may not be reality. Osama and some of his friends were pissed off enough and cold enough to plan and execute a crime. Why should go to war with everyone that looks like him or has some of the same beliefs as him?

Because this wasn't an isolated incident. (see WTC in 1993, the Cole, etc.) I don't advocate warring with people that look like him, I do support warring with people (and nations that support these people) who share his beliefs. The point is, he was calling a terrorist act a terrorist act. Also, terrorism is a tactic used by political movements...so by it's nature, the event is open to "politicizing." Again, it wasn't a natural disaster.

He is not supported by any nation. You think we should seek out and kill people because of what we believe they believe?

Yes, because that would be SUCH a better option.

By the way, there is already a process for impeachment. I would have guessed a Clintonite would know that. Either that, or they'd be purposely ignoring that fact.

no, we need to kill them if they SAY they want to kill us. I believe them because they actually do it. And any nation that aids the enemy needs to be held accountable.

after he mentioned the women who lost her husband in the WTC, i couldn't help but think of the ??,000 families that are facing the same thing in iraq right now. the whole thing is a clusterfuck, and it sucks that he used 9-11 as a crutch, as he always has in any speech he gives, to somehow connect the war to that tragic event...seriously, we have no concept of whats going on over there, and if we did, we would get out asap. over 100 people die a day gang...think about it.

I think the view that he is using 9/11 as a crutch for Iraq is somewhat short shighted (not meant to be insulting, the best I can come up with). I'm not sure what it is people thinks he wants to come out of Iraq. Whatever your opinion on going there, we are there. And I think a lot of people understand what's going on. So we need to figure out the best solution, which Bush thinks it's making sure the Iraqi army and security forces are equipped to handle militas and other groups creating instability. But that's besides the point,

I just don't see why it's a bad thing to reflect on the anniversary of a terror attack by calling it a terror attack and vowing to go after those who would do a similar attack in the future.

I wish he understood a lot of things.

He actually said to Katie Couric the other day, "One of the hardest parts of my job is to connect Iraq to the war on terror."

What propoganda? The terrorists are in Afgh and the taliban is actually making a come back there. Bin Ladin is still out there, Al Queda could attack us any day now and this excuse for president is equating the mess in Iraq with the war against terror. Who is our enemy? Do you even know?

yeah what does that mean? to me it is total bullshit. i thought "nukulur" weapons were the strongest weapons in the ol' arsenal.

No, it's not bullshit. It's just said by a man who doesn't understand that freedom can't come at the point of a gun and that everything he hates about these terrorists is what he's become.

Just thought I'd add to the opinions posted here. :p
  • Seems to me the only fighting the Democrats are for is with Republicans. Meanwhile we got all kinds of evidence that we are being targeted and that we aren't very good at facing the threat that lies before us. We'd rather fight amongst ourselves, wring our hands, and hope that if we just ignore the problem it will go away.

I suggest that we realize that there are good people all over the world that don't want war, but that those that do want war and seek it for idealogy will forever take advantage of us who do not want war. We are at the tipping point I think.

I am sure that we cannot change the minds and hearts of those that seek to destroy us based on their twisting of religion. We really don't have a choice anymore. If you want to hold out that it is all Bush's fault and this would all be fine if he was out of office, then you are just delaying the inevitable. This was going on before Bush, it will continue after him.

I am willing to sacrifice my peaceful existence on this planet so that my kids won't have to face the same, or their kids. My life is not peaceful now anyway, so might as well get on with it.

But I don't want to die or see my friends and family die senslessly because we are waiting and hoping this problem goes away. I'd much rather face it head on and sacrifice now for a better tomorrow.

I'd like to start with profiling at the airport, securing borders, and getting control on who is in this country and for what reasons, and where they are. I don't care about PC thought. I figure that a good Muslim wouldn't have much of a problem being profiled at the airport since he probably is just as worried about a radical flying his plane into a building as I am.
