All I know is that ticket prices have doubled since the 2003 tour and it's not just because of inflation.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. I have a feeling that this debate is splitting the sexes. Women think that paying $75 to see Eddie in a small venue is perfectly reasonable. The men are the ones complaining about the price. Am I right?0

Neil young played the same spot and tix were over $150.
Tix prices probably START at around $75
For a major act, I consider any tix under $100 to be reasonable for NYC.0 -
HollisBrown wrote:Hey, he's gotta pay a vig to Stone, Matt, Jeff and Mike just to let him go. Eddie's lucky if he gets $5 per ticket
Personally, I do think $75 is a bit high, but people will pay it, so why not charge it?
But to think that Ed only gets $5 a ticket is way off. I'm not one of the asswipes on the board that is directing a personal attack at you; You're ok with me if you like PJ, so don't take what I'm saying personally.
I'm just saying Ed nets way more than $5 a ticket, believe me.
And the market is what sets ticket prices. If no one bought $75 tickets, he wouldn't charge that much. But he'll sell out every show, in just a few minutes... I don't consider myself a greedy person, but I'd charge as much as I possibly could if I were in his shoes. Yes, they're all great guys, socially active and responsible, they all donate portions of the proceeds to charity, but don't forget, this IS their job... This IS how they pay the bills that we all have, how they support the people they love, and yes, how they buy jetskis, fast cars and other toys. I'd be ok with being a rich rock star. That doesn't mean you care less about your fans or the causes you support.Mesa 11/7/93 - Charlotte 10/4/96 - DC 6/14/98 - Raleigh 8/31/98 - Knoxville 9/6/98 - Columbia MD 9/18/98 - DC 9/19/98 - Columbia MD 9/4/00 - Phoenix 10/21/00 - Raleigh 4/15/03 - Phoenix 6/7/03 - Philadelphia 5/27&28/06 - DC 5/30/06 - Las Vegas 7/6/06 - San Diego 7/7/06 - LA 7/9&10/06 - Gorge 7/22&23/06 - Chicago 8/5/07 - PJ20 9/3&4/11 - Jacksonville 11/24/12 (EV) - Orlando 11/27/12 (EV) - Brooklyn 10/18&19/13 - Charlotte 10/30/13 - Memphis 10/14/14 - Ft Lauderdale 4/8/16 - Miami 4/9/16 - Jacksonville 4/13/16 - Hampton 4/18/16 - Chicago 8/20&22/160 -

Agreed......
but Eddie Vedder isn't a major act.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. Not here.
My feeling is take it while you can. You never know when it'll come around again... if ever. 75 bucks is priced about right.
And it's only money. If you have better things to spend your money on... then, go that way. Otherwise... it's only money.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

So why the high prices?
DO you know what they are paid?? Alot.
And Ed also travels with his own crew. They get paid Alot.
It is simple math.
This has nothing to do with MSG...nothing.
How much do you spend on a wild night out on the town with your friends?
If I am going out for dinner and drinks, it is easily that much per person.
Why shouldn't you pay that for entertainment?
And those union guys have nothing to do with the safety of anyone.Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome
And I don't feel right when you're gone away0 -
the days of 35 dollar tix are over.0
-
Im away on vacation so its an easy decision for me- but I dont think I would pay 70+ to see Ed solo. The less you know, the more you believe.0

So why the high prices?
Gross for MSG show = 1,300,000
Gross for Unted Theatre show = 172,500
Ed still has to pay his security, tour manager, bus driver, sound man/woman and techs their usual rate, even though he is playing smaller venues.....these costs are fixed, so they don't go down in proportion to the sizes of the venues.
Ticket prices are usually demand-driven, and not a function of the performer's expenses.0 -

True that. My girlfriend is always saying that I would totally go gay for Eddie Vedder if I got the chance, and that she's okay with it. How much was a gallon of gasoline in 2003? $2.15, maybe? I just paid $4.21 last night. 49% increase... not quite doubled... therefore, Eddie is a greedy bastard.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!
