tickets were surprisingly 55 bucks though, probably because of the venue :(

I was kinda expecting it to be costly...seeing it's gonna be in Fort York and all. You got tickets from last Friday? You're lucky hodge!

I wasn't so lucky last Friday...who knows what will happen on the 24th. I'm hoping for another extra show...if that's not asking too much. :)

It's perfect..the Hip under the summer sun and at Fort York. Very nice.

I second that! Us poor folks out west are lucky enough to see the Hip maybe once a year, while you lucky bastards in Ontario usually get 3 or 4. All I can say is I can't wait until the boys tour the west coast. Some friends and I are already planning a trip to Seattle to see them...whenever that may be. We're hoping to do what we call the "triangle" tour: Seattle, Portland, and Spokane. Pearl Jam's Jeff Ament is an admitted Hip fan, so maybe we'll have a PJ sighting at the Seattle show. That would be amazing.

:D:D:D Ah...yes, me always wishful thinkin' of course!

Would be great if they'll actually play later in the day too, Bobcaygeon under the darling starry skies! It would be a dream come true! This is making me all excited now...oh the possibilities...

Those Europeans are still pretty damn lucky though. It's making me want to take a trip to Europe.

Yup. I have a bootleg of a radio interview that Johnny and Gord Sinclair did in Seattle at the local rock station a few years back, and the DJ mentioned that a few celebrity guests had called in looking for tickets to the Hip's show that night: Bridget Fonda, Eric Stoltz, and Jeff from Pearl Jam, to which Johnny says: "Bridget Fonda eh? I think we can work that out." Funny stuff.

The old Hip Club is no longer running. They're currently working on a new version of THC over at the band's homepage. It's not up and running yet, but once it is it'll be a paid membership which will give you front-of-the-line ticket access, along with various other things that they have yet to unveil. Their webmaster posts often over at the Hipbase forum, and he promises the new Hip Club will be amazing. I can't wait to see what they have in store for us.

As for album news, the boys are in the studio as we speak recording their new album with Bob Rock in Vancouver. The latest news is that the album will be released in late spring/early summer with a world tour to follow, beginning in Europe in July, and then a North American tour for late summer/fall. I bought it the day it came out, and yes, it is indeed awesome. I didn't really get it for the greatest hits (I already own all the albums), but it's worth buying it just for the packaging and all the extras. The live DVD is of course the crown jewel of the entire set, and there's some fantastic stuff on the bonus disc as well, particularly the ultra-cool documentary "Macroscopic". And how can you not love the video for "The Darkest One" starring the Trailer Park Boys!
