i love how many of you philadelphians have penis envy when it comes to NYers. philly is a glorified town, its not that i can't stand it, its just that there isn't really anything special about it. its lame. however, its nice that there's another "city" that is less than a 2 hour drive for me. its very convenient when my favorite bands go on tour.

i'm gonna let this thread get back on topic. it shouldn't be a pissing match between you and i. obviously new york is a superior city. glad that's settled.

you don't need to get defensive, i'm sure many people from philly would agree with me.
Having grown up in NYC and now living in Philly for the past 3+ years I can say that they are both great cities. Philadelphia has a much smaller and personal vibe and well, NYC is NYC. You either love it or hate it, I love it. What I don't get is why many people from NYC feel the need to shit on a city that they have spent almost no time in. Philadelphia has incredible history, plently of entertaiment and great dining (even better than NYC in my opinion) at a much lower cost of living. One of the best parts of Philly is the location, with it only taking a couple hours to get to NYC, Baltimore and DC.

I spend almost every summer weekend in NYC at Yankee Stadium and wouldn't have it any other way. That said, I love living in Philly even though I despise every sports team. It is a great city and you should probably spend some time here before you make stupid comments.
I never got that either. It's one thing to talk smack about the teams, but I always like visiting Philadelphia and have found it a fun place to check out.

I was born and bred in Jersey (a k a the mutual retarded cousin of New York City and Philadelphia), and it's where I still make my home. My $0.02: June weather makes it tough to defend any Northeastern city, folks. Nice "summer" we're having, eh?

Hard time with the quotes eh? But from what I gather you indeed like the city. As NY is a fun place to check out - especially when 50% of the crowd at New Yankee was Phils fans.

Anyway, for all the people who think Philly is lame, boring, or flat out sucks - here's a thought: Don't come. We're doing just fine without you. 8-)

The problem is a lot of people come to the convention center area, or 30th Street Station, or Upper Darby, or even the sports complex and say, "Philly is a dump!"

But if you actually live here, you don't spend much time in those places. You know about Rittenhouse, Northern Liberties and Queen Village and the parks and museums and great BYO restaurants -- not to mention being an hour and a half from the beach.

For me Philly offers the culture and excitement of NYC on a smaller, more manageable scale, with more of a neighborhood, "I was born and raised here," feel. I love it.

The bigger question is do we force the cops to let us turn the sports complex into a temporary village, or just set up shop at FDR with the bums and skaters? Might be better to do it in FDR - what with the Phils in the World Series and all... ;)

People whom compare NYC to Philly are retarded, different cities almost entirely different culture, totally different feel/vibe......

.....Penis envy, that makes no sense at all...I would much rather live in Philly than NYC.

New York is a great place to visit but not to live......25 minutes outside Philly and you are pretty much in the country. You can't get that in NYC.

yea they should for the out of towners like me espically if phish and pj and bruce are the final 3 acts. You guys aren't repeating with the way you're playing. 1 1/2 games up on a basically triple a met team isn't to good. You should be more like 8 games up.

We've squandered an opportunity, yes, but we're without our #2 starter (Myers), Lidge has been bad or hurt the whole season, and Rollins has a horrid .250 OBP.

Mets have obviously been decimated with injuries as well.

No matter what, it seems, it'll come down to September...

its almost the 2 teams are built just to get into the playoffs. Every year both teams always have a weak spot. Come on 10c just announce these confirmed shows. Put this rumor and hype talk to bed.

Obviously, but then again we went in the shitter this same exact time last year. Not saying it's going to play out exactly the same way, but injuries happen. You'll see, you'll all see....

The Jays are the most frustrating team in baseball to be a fan of. They get swept by Florida at home, only to then sweep Philly on the road, then they go to Washington and lose 2 of 3.

Do you guys want to take Vernon Wells off our hands?

Yeah, Rollins was definitely not putting up MVP #'s last year - actually I would say he was hampered by that ankle injury most of the year. Our pitching staff sssuuuucked last June. We were still throwing Adamn God Damn Eaton out there with Myers out. The bullpen will be fine, it's just a little banged up right now. And Lidge wasn't really lights out this time last year - he got extremely lucky in some games in June. But so it goes, nothing will be determined till the end of August. And there's still the trading deadline which I think they'll make a big splash in.
  • Just heard on WMMR, Matt Cord said Eddie was finishing his solo tour in Hawaii next weekend and then hopefully there would be an announcement about PJ shows in Philly. Don't know if this means anything but it is exciting to hope!

philly wont win no world series this year, they will make playoffs but i think dodgers red sox in world series.

philly is god awful at home, maybe they should destroy the baseball stadium and build a new one, they are one of the worst teams in baseball at home, and they are the only team with an above 500 record, who has a losing record at home. losing 8 of 9 games at home last home stand is brutal. i bet philly on sat and sun against baltimore, and they couldnt even beat them. down 3-0 on saturday come back to go up 5-3 only to lose 6-5 by giving up 3 runs in the 9th, then fuckin lose 2-1 on sunday. how the hell does a first place team get swept to toronto and baltimore????????????????????????????????????????????????????? phillies suck

i still dont see them doing 3 philly shows, unless there really is no other east coast shows. if they do a mini east coast tour, id say philly gets 1 or 2 show, and then they maybe go to ny city or boston also????? or maybe play atlantic city again?? i hope they play somewhere halloween night though that willl be cool, when was the last time pj played on halloween 1991 or 1992?

Philly will not win the(or you can use the term "any" as well) World Series this year. That's how your above sentence should be written, Podunk. From what I gather you lost a lot of money on the Fightin's? How did it happen that they lost this weekend? It just does sometimes - just like last year when the Phils weren't suppose to do anything and it was suppose to be a Dodger/Sawx World Series? Yeah, just like that. The point is as long as you are in contention throughout the year and you play your best ball in September and October is all that matters. Also, next time, use that gambling money for some grammar and sentence structuring skills. No one likes to spend their time deciphering what you're writing. Good day.

atleast if they go to east coast this time it will be in the fall. summer is better, but everytime pj goes to philly in the summer, they go to fuckin camden. i saw pj at camden 2 times, it is a great venue, but the city of camden is a total dumb. pj and other bands shouldnt ever go to camden. they should of built that venue in camden on the philly side somewhere. i saw some monkey have a beach towel wrapped around his hand, in the parking lot, after the opening band went on stage, and i stil wasnt in the venue yet, cause pj wasnt playing for a while still, but lotso f people already went in the venue

the monkey was trying to steal a car, smashing car window with the beachtowel wrappeda round his hand, my friend saw a police man outside the venue, so he went to go tell him, that someone is trying to break into a car, and smashed the window and everything. but the fuckin cop didnt do anything, the cop said i will get to it after im done eating dinner. the cop had bought a hot dog from one of the hot dog carts. what a fuckin joke. my guess is the cops in camden are scared shitless. camden is a dumb we can drop bomb on it, and i dont think no one would care

keep dreaming philly wont win back to back world series. im almost certain red sox win the al, the nl is wide open i think. but it very hard to make the world series, if you have a bad home record. i mean there is a chance here philly is 9 games under at home this year, philly might not even have a winning home record this year.

why do they suck so bad at home this year???? they are like the arizona diamondbacks. you have a better shot at eagles making super bowl i think, than philly repeat. and eagles should of already won a super bowl or two with mcscabb, they probably wont win one. giants, and skins got better too in offseason

    phillies suck

The Phillies suck because they had a terrible homestand? OK...

They're the defending world champions -- and you might have noticed they have a 24-9 road record.

They had the same kind of awful homestand against AL teams last June. The overall home record is flukey and will even out over the course of the season.
