  • I love riot act. The only song I don't like on the album is Help Help.
I love get right, you are, and thumbing my way, just to name a few.

I realise this thread is very old but I'm currently listening to Riot Act and thinking about how great this album is. I think it deserves a lot more appreciation than it gets in general. I love Riot Act!

Couldn't agree more. Some quirky songs mixed in there for sure, but for me that's a positive. Save You and Get Right are great rockers, love the drum machine effect in You Are, Ghost and 1/2 Full for the blues feel, All or None has a great outro solo esp live. Not a skip on there, OK maybe Arc. Also love that they put their politics out there for everyone to see even if you don't agree with them. It was a pretty weird time in the country if you remember,  although not as bad as now for sure. It mystifies me how many people don't like RA, to each their own I guess.

There was also some great b-sides that came from the Riot Act sessions of course. Down, Undone, Other Side. And the Layne Staley tribute, 4/20/02 came from this time period too. A really creative time for the band.

  • Always liked this album. When it came out I ranked it low in their catalogue because how could anything break into the first five albums. But I’ve never really moved away from it and consider it stronger than the next three that were to come: Avocado, Backspacer, and Lightning Bolt. It’s close with Binaural, and that 99-05 era will always be these two albums tied together. Anyway, fav songs on the album:
    Can’t keep
    Save You
    Ghost
Green Disease - probably a top 10-15 PJ song for me
    Help Help
    All or None

I think Cropduster is one of their best songs ever. That was Matt's song...as was Get Right and You Are

I recently revisited this album to prep for the Dark Matter tour.  I sat and absorbed it with the same attention that I gave the Dark Matter album, which I love dearly.  And wow, this Riot Act album is incredible start to finish.

This whole album is a mood.  Brilliant lyrics.  This album flows very nicely.  It's a very cohesive package.

Hope to see many of these songs played live at future shows, or even a full album show.

Big big love for Riot Act.  A beautiful masterpiece.

Yep! Amazing album.... The vinyl/cd packaging just creates such an even more atmosphere to these songs. Riot Act/Binaural, brilliant albums.

yeah it's one of my favorites...it was a sleeper for me

I remember getting the CD upon release and not being real impressed. I think I was still really big into Yield then. But several years later I'm loving it. I think the Yield/Binaural/Riot Act albums are their best
