100% agree. Mystifying to me that that record is not universally loved. Wish they played more of it on tour. Maybe they feel a bit emotionally disconnected from it thematically?

When I first heard RA in 2002, I thought it was boring, slow and depressing. I was like where is the rock, the anger, the fast songs? I thought maybe I had downloaded the B sides or something. If you guys remember it was leaked early on the internet and heard it a few weeks before it was released.
Then after a few spins and listening to the whole record in order, it’s a beautiful record with some incredible moments. I think thumbing my way might be one the best songs in their catalog. Mix in save you, can’t keep, LBC, green disease, I am mine, 1/2 full and this thing is fuckin magic. One of my fav albums, underrated and the 2003 tour was one of their best if not their best .
^ Agree that this album is truly magical, and was underrated initially. Ahead of it's time.
If you sit with this album, and just let it run, you will find that ultimate magic where it's all connected. The lyrics, sounds, and vibe. A remarkable masterpiece that simply took some time for some of the fans to truly appreciate.
This album has aged like fine wine. I love every song.
The way Ed sings the end of All or None made me tear up on the way home last night.
All or None is a top 3 album closer for me, along with Indifference and Setting Sun. I love the way Ed's voice changes between the versus as well. Brilliant singing here.
The whole album is a vibe, and then All or None perfectly closes everything out.
twenty years later and this is still my least favorite album. I am mine and 1/2 full are the standouts to me, the rest are meh.
I don't understand this at all but I guess that's the beauty of the catalog. Different strokes for different folk. To me this is a better album than anything that has came after. By far. Just wish they'd play more songs off of it live. Super underrated.
Me or McCready? lol. I was in shock. By the laws of the universe, it is simply not possible for Can't Keep or Save You to be considered "meh".
I recommend anyone to just sit and let this album flows. Let it run. Good speakers / Headphones. If you have done 2 full play thru's, recently, and still don't like it, then totally fair, you gave it a chance.
Riot Act is as cohesive as Dark Matter. Just let it run, sit with it. Rad album

I had the same experience. Riot Act was one of the albums I was looking forward to the most after seeing the band for the first time in 2000. I was underwhelmed and enjoyed just a handful of songs. Save You, You Are, I Am Mine and All or None in particular. Now I appreciate the album more, but it took a long time to get there.
This album is very rewarding once you connect with it. Brilliant lyrics, guitar, drums, and Boom! His contributions here are great. That organ flows thru nicely and gives this album a soul / blues vibe. Very cool.
It's as cohesive as Dark Matter in the aspect of flow, and similar sounds and concepts throughout, and also the way McCready enters with the smooth solos.

I wish they did too.
This is such a happening tailpipe of a party

Loving Riot Act and a Happy 22!
I got some if you need it
The man they call my enemy, I've seen his eyes
He looks just like me, a mirror
The more you read, we've been deceived
Everyday it becomes clearer
Clearer
