Is there any chance this rate will get even cheaper a couple days before the shows? I live in Virginia, and I'd really like to come out for these shows, but I can't make plans very far in advance right now. I'm a recent college grad looking to start a job in the near future; hence, I'm not sure if I'll be able to get away (not to mention the fact that I'd have to be very cost conscious). If I can get away and make it happen, I was thinking I'd just Priceline a flight and the hotel at the last minute. One important question though: is the public transportation sufficient to get me from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the shows?
I have a lot of experience with Priceline and this rate is pretty close to the best you are going to get in Chicago at a 4 star hotel like the Hyatt. The reason that everyone has been getting the Hyatt (which is very uncommon) is very likely because no other hotels have rates anywhere near this amount with Priceline.
There is a chance that this could get a little cheaper, but I would say that $50 is the absolute rock bottom that this deal will get. There is much more risk the other way IMO. Once the block of rooms that the Hyatt has sold Priceline are gone, who knows what the next cheapest hotel will be in this star class in Chicago. If I had to bet on it, I would say that you'll probably get this deal right up to the week before the shows. But I wouldn't risk it. This deal is too good to risk losing it.

That is interesting. It would appear that the $57 deal has dried up. Anyone who is not checking in until Sunday, I would still try $57. Fridays and Saturdays usually cost more, so a Sunday check in is optimal and may still get you the $57 deal or the $60 deal.

So I raised my bid to $65 and ended up getting the Palmer House instead of the Hyatt.

I got three nights 22, 23, 24. I bid $60.00 and was told if I wanted to bid $17.00 more I could do it without waiting for the 24 hours. So I did and got the Hyatt Regency. $77.00.
The last time we were in Chicago (in 2006 for PJ concerts) we got it for $60.00 per night. We made the mistake of driving and parking there was outrageous. So keep that in mind if you plan on driving. I think we are going to drive up from Southern Illinois to Champagne or some other place on the Amtrak line and then take the train into Chicago.

Just got 4 nights (Fri - Tues) at Hyatt for $80 via Priceline. Would have loved to get it at $60, but I guess that's what I get for procrastinating. Nonetheless, look forward to seeing everyone in Chicago!

.
For the future, any time Priceline gives you a counter offer, you can usually get the room on a re-bid for half of the difference. In your case you could have had the Hyatt for around $68 or $69. But you would have had to either wait the 24 hours or add another zone that didn't have a 4 star hotel in it. Looks like you just wanted to get it over with so you took the $77, but keep that in mind for the future.

The Hyatt is still available by the looks of things. What has happened is not that the Hyatt has dried up, but that other hotels that have more vacancy are now cheaper.
