Um, you may not have gotten the memo, but part of being a real fan is sticking by your team even when its absolute garbage.

As a Phillies fan - ugh, pains me to say - sticking up for a Mets fan, THIS is why I hate Yankee fans. There's a lot more reasons, but the most typical. Did you happen to grow up being a Cowboys, Bulls, Duke, and Miami fan as well???

I have a ton more respect for a Mets fan - ugggghhhhh - over a Yankees fan. Not much more, but more.

Yea, if you find them in Idaho, New Mexico,Arizona, or Guam....maybe that applies. I think there is 26 reasons I can think of why you hate Yankee fans, its on the tip of my tongue. But hey, you guys won it last year fair and square....so gloat away. IMO acting like you've been there is a much cooler

Ohhhhhh, you mean the MANY titles that were won before you were born, and the 4 you were around for that were bought? Yeah, that's right. Sorry, I like to see things earned as opposed to taken.

Act like you've been there? Where in God's name have you been? Yeah, I highly doubt you've ever crossed those foul lines to take those titles, so another trite reply.

There are lots of reasons to be a Mets Fan. Mine are simple, my dad grew up in the Bronx and hated the Yankees. He then moved to Queens 10 minutes from Shea. I had no choice :)

Bought???? That is the lamest, easiest thing for non-yankee fans to say. look at the Mets Payroll this year, whats that gonna buy them? Alot more goes into it than payroll. As for when I was born...thats real genius on your end. So lets say your team(thats been around for a long time) had a bunch, you wouldn't take pride in that?I'm not gonna sit here and try to have a pissing contest with you to see who's franchise or fanbase is better.Cause thats just retarded, but to say that all of us are frontrunners,or fairweather fans, shows your envy.

it's nice to see a philles fan and yankee fan have a bitch fest in a mets thread

i was very shocked with the way these scrubs played tonight. least these mets have heart. i gotta give castillo for going out there on a bum knee night after night. it cringe everytime i see him run the bases. can we officially say that resigning ollie was a bust of a move. another great signing by omar, . also its very cool to see church offer support to wright. what a class act.
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight

Nice to see the double post in that pissing match as well. Instead of wasting 15 seconds, I spent 30 seconds....

Well wins are going to happen 47.1 percent of the time, would have been nice to see a better game Monday when I finally made it out to the stands. At least the pulled pork sandwich was good..

Is this guy for real? Good or bad, you ride your team to the grave..and fuck the Yankees..no true Met fan would ever support them..the only thing left this year is to desperately root against the Yanks and Phills..

Castillo has been a trooper this year..

What do you guys think about Beltran trying to come back this season? He is a gamer and wants to be out there, but I'd rather him get healthy instead of further damaging the knee..there is talk of surgery too..

I honestly hope they keep Beltran, Reyes, and probably Wright on the DL for the rest of the season. No good can come out of bringing them back, and this season has been looooooooooong over for us. Don't ruin next season too.

As for why I'm a Mets fan, well, my dad grew up in LA and the Dodgers moved out there when he was 7, so he grew up as a Dodgers fan and always had season tickets.

When he moved to NYC (before I was born) there was no way he was going to root for the Yankees, and so sadly for me and my brother, he became a Mets fan. And now we are stuck (and will always be stuck because we don't waver) rooting for this garbage franchise.

Saw this while perusing the internets. Pretty sad/funny.

    Expansion team: DL Allstars:
SP- Maine, Nieve, Niese, and soon OP
    1B- Carlos Delgado
    2b/OF- Ramon Martinez
    SS- Jose Reyes
    3B- David Wright
    OF- Fernando Martinez
    OF/2B- Alex Cora
    OF: Carlos Beltran

    Honorable Mention/DH/OF Gary Sheffield

    RP: JJ Putz
    Closer: Billy Wagner

    We just need a catcher...Schneider?

Derek Jeter - The reward for going 71-91 in 1991 under Stump Merril.
    Andy Pettitte - drafted
Paul O'Neill - traded by the Reds for Roberto Kelly
Chuck Knoblauch - traded for three prospects, two that actually contributed to the Twins
Scott Brosius - traded by the A's for Scott Brosius.
Tino Martinez - traded by the Mariners for Russ Davis and someone else
Bernie Williams - signed as a non-drafted free agent in 1985

ok, ok, I'll confess to buying Jose Canseco in 2000. We were scared his steroid filled bat was going to the Red Sox as a waiver claim...

Yes, at least from what I've had. That's not a big thing with me, I'd rather see a competitive game, but a good pulled pork and corn on the cob at a ballgame is pretty good. Don't worry my contributions to the Wilpons that night won't be able to get anything other than a low triple-A player...

i was very shocked with the way these scrubs played tonight. least these mets have heart. i gotta give castillo for going out there on a bum knee night after night. it cringe everytime i see him run the bases. can we officially say that resigning ollie was a bust of a move. another great signing by omar, . also its very cool to see church offer support to wright. what a class act.

I wouldn't call it a bitchfest, just defending my team. To say that everyone who likes them is all because of success in the 90's is inaccurate imo. I dont think you should paint with such broad strokes, or use generalizations like that. Cause Philly fans should know better than most what their reputation is like.I dont buy that they are all blood thirsty savages who enjoy other players getting seriously injured. Some yes, but I've met enough who arent like that. Our teams in the 90's had good players all around, after losing to the Marlins we 100% made decisions based on just making a splash in the offseason(too many players to name) Yes we spent a boatload for 3 guys this offseason, and yes the Yankees have revenue to burn. Its always going to be that way. I think a team like Toronto salary dumping Rios, and Oakland/Pittsburgh being glorified farm systems for the leaugue is a far worse problem. You cant blame the yanks for cheap-ass owners, and dumb business practices around the leaugue. I mean the Marlins 2nd title,Rays last year, and a bunch of other cases prove it takes young talent mixed with a little luck to win it all.

i was being sarcastic when i said it was a bitchfest. agreed with everything you say. but you can't deny that most 18-26 year olds in the metro area are yankees fans cause of 90's. to deny that would be inaccurate.
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight
    Sammi: Wanna just break up?

So let me ask all the Mets fans in this thread a question: What do you guys prefer, a good season overall with meaningful September baseball but finishing in a (historic) collapse, or a season that was over by the end of May?
