At the end of the day, the bills gotta get paid. If a certain job doesn't pay enough for basic necessities, then no matter how wonderful is, reality always smacks you in the face. I'll find another opportunity. thx.~*~Me and Hippiemom dranketh the red wine in Cleveland 2003~*~

first i just want to say i do appreciate having a job. but my job has made me discover a new hatred for the general public. im a cashier at a stupid food store and i have never come across such ignorant people in my whole life. these people come in my line with 400 $$ food orders and stand there watching me ring up their food when they could be bagging. and when im in express why do people who have WICchecks like to come in that line? . $7.50 is not enough pay in my opinion. i like working sundays though when i get $9.25. just three more months until i'll be in college and i wont have to work there anymore!0

yeah, the first time I did it it was a big company, so not a big deal. but this time it is a small firm with 2 partners, one of whom works really had and the other is just a nice guy. I feel like I am abandoning them because the one other associate is worthless and the staff is just the worst bunch of brats (40 year old women who act like teenagers) you can imagine.
I'm big on loyalty, but I cant go down with the ship when I have made numerous suggestions of how to improve the firm's operations and efficiency but they refuse to make changes. a more professional environment, better people to learn from and a 50% raise...it was a no brainer.Found: Soundgarden Hyde Park DVD (Thank you for the gift!)

shitty jobs are a rite of passage, we all have them, but you're in school so you can eventually do what you want. that's more opportunity than a lot of people get or make use of in their entire lives. good luck.Found: Soundgarden Hyde Park DVD (Thank you for the gift!)

I'm sorry you had to turn it down cos of pay Simone. It's hard enough to get jobs as it is, and I've noticed a lot of employers are offering a lot less than they would have normally. Even IT jobs are far less well-paid I've noticed as a contractor friend of mine says the same sort of jobs he was getting previously, which paid about £60K, were now being offered at £35K pa.
Hope you have better luck next time eh. (((HUGS)))"We have to change the concept of patriotism to one of “matriotism” — love of humanity that transcends war. A matriarch would never send her own children off to wars that kill other people’s children." Cindy Sheehan

I graduated college last year and have been looking for entry level IT jobs ever since (I worked in UCLA's computer lab for 3 years, so I have some experience).
It's pretty depressing! Anyone in SoCal hiring for desktop support?I'll wait for an angel, but won't hold my breath0 -
Well, it's official, I got a lay off notice. My last day will be June 19th and they gave me this month's notice because they like me so much. it was inevitable, but I have been trying hard to look for a job in the past 3 months; one phone interview, one face to face interview, both lead to nothing.
In a worst case scenario, I am laid off, collect unemployment for the first time to manage bills and put 100% effort into looking for a great job, AND I can defer my damned student loans for a year and let the government pay on the interest.~*~Me and Hippiemom dranketh the red wine in Cleveland 2003~*~

wow....evidently i have NOT kept up with this thread! helen got a job?! wooohooooooo, belated congrats! i know how long you were going out of your mind looking...so lower wages or not...kudos to you! hope it leads to bigger and brighter things!
whitepants....sooooo sorry to hear about the layoff. :( total bummer, even if you were semi-expecting it. truly sucks. you seem to have a pretty good attitude about it tho, which definitely works in your favor.....and i wish you and everyone else out there looking....GOOD LUCK!
me...things are good, overall. i am cautiously optimistic about it tho, certainly not over-confident. i do not want to get laid off, there are no signs of layoffs for client service staff.....yet. i will 'feel better' about the situation in august, early september. our fiscal year ends in july, and august is a usual period of promotions and staff changes. it also is the kick-off of our busy season, so hope it IS busy....important for my employment! :P we DId decide to drop my health insurance thru my job due the rising costs and i am going back on my husbands. sucks b/c it still raises our costs $100 a month, but it's 'worth' it overall for the better/cheaper coverage. oh and on a positive note, commution fees did not go up $50 a month, only $18....so that's one good thing......Stay with me...

well, i was officially laid off last week. we were prepared for the worst & it's a good thing that we save the way we do. i was able to find a part time job working with troubled kids this summer. it won't pay all of the bills, but it's a start. it's tough to see our income slashed like that. my wife is also looking for a new job. we're being aggressive with our searches..yup, it's tough.I LOVE MUSIC.

thanks!we've both landed part-time gigs & that should help a bit. it's hard b/c we're both full time grad students, so it's hard to commit to something in the Fall that would work w/ our class schedules. we're just going to have to keep looking & hope that something pops up that'll work.

I'm so sorry Simone. That's awful. One of my friends is in the same boat now too, from June. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you to find something much better soon.(hugs)"We have to change the concept of patriotism to one of “matriotism” — love of humanity that transcends war. Well I just found out my unemployment insurance runs out in a month.
Now I'm REALLY desperate.I'll wait for an angel, but won't hold my breath0 -
I just completed my best week of 2009 (money-wise). On Saturday night, one couple I waited on tipped me $50 on a $90 ticket. I'm still baffled over that one. I mean, I realize I'm good, but I never realized I wasthat good! Another couple tipped me $40 on $80!!! :shock:I really screwed that up. I really Schruted it.0
