Wow! I had a cat that loved green olives, too! Always thought that was the weirdest thing! We are also thinking about getting another kitty - might have to wait until after the (hopefully) fall tour!

We keep on talking about this all the time. There's always the thought of "what if our cat is an asshole towards other cats?". She is perfectly nice and comfy with us, but what if she terrorizes another kitty coming into the household? Sigh.

I must admit, even though she seemed bored at first, overall my surviving cat seems much happier being the only cat in the household. When I brought her in as a kitten and introduced her to my other cat (deceased), i think it would also be honest to say that the first cat was happier before the new one came in, even though they managed to live together in relative peace. Not saying that's how it is for all of course - I'm sure there are cats out there who love each other - but in my experience only they seem to prefer being the one and only king or queen of the home.

Yeah, that is the whole thing. I think Cav is more concerned than I am though. He does not want to have her feel bad at any rate. Our cat is spoiled like shit lol But to me, she seems bored sometimes too. This is why I am thinking about another cat. I want her to have a buddy to play with. I'm working from home. Every two hours, she is coming over and meowing. She wants to play, she wants snuggles. She is defo a very happy cat, but she plays us like a fiddle. I think if we found a baby cat that we could give back in the worst case would be our best bet.

How cool getting a new addition, would you get a cat or kitten? So much fun. Can't believe all these olive eating cats, my cat only eats cat food..none of this gourmet food like caramel!!!!

Maybe. Those kittens are up for adoption, not for sale. They actually come from partnering SPCAs, not kitten mills. Apparently the SPCA struggled with whether or not they should do adoptions through Petsmart because they oppose the fact that tbe store sells other animals, but they decided to do it anyway since they were managing to adopt so many cats out that way, it was clearly in the animals' best interests for them to continue sending animals to the store for adoption. I was told all this by an employee at Bosley's, which is in the same program with the SPCA.

i haven't visited here in quite some time!
loving all the pics and videos that i can actually see --- work blocks most of the fun stuff :-P I am going to need to post some new pics of our cats!

The shelter near us is holding a contest. It is for the chance to get to name a litter of 5 kittens (born to a 7 month old mama cat!!) and the winner was determined by whoever donated the most to help with their care (food, medical stuff, shots, spay/neuter). The kittens are being fostered by a volunteer right now.

SO Ironically I heard about the contest just a day or so after my uncle passed away last month (cancer. He was only 54 :( diagnosed in November, gone in May). He was the BIGGEST cat lover i know! He always had a whole troop of cats that he and my aunt spoiled like crazy- they didn't have any kids and so the cats were like their kids. My uncle also traveled down south from the area I live in (Chicago) on a couple of occasions to rescue displaced animals after Hurricane Katrina. So I rallied some family members together and pooled our donations into one and it looks like we are going to win! The shelter messaged me this morning and told me and said i should decide what names we want to use- there are 3 boys and 2 girls. We are going to name the cats after him/his nicknames and the things he loved. I thought that was a fitting tribute He was definitely the "fun" uncle and my favorite by far. He had a huge heart and always was way more concerned with what he could give to and do for others than what he received in return.

The girl names are kinda tough to figure out!!

What a lovely story Kelly, you have done a wonderful job, your Uncle will be watching from above and smiling and thinking...these kittens are going to have a great life.....and all thanks to my niece O:-)

As for girl names one could be named after your aunty since I'm sure she was one of his favourites in life:-) Your whole family sounds like they are such a giving family, and it's lovely to see that in this world :x

My uncle was married to my aunt Karen, who is my mom's sister. They were married 25 years before they divorced about 5-6 years ago. They remained the best of friends, even after my aunt moved out to Las Vegas. They talked daily, and probably even more after his diagnosis -the outlook was not good from the start. He married his girlfriend Cindy who he had been with for a few years right after they found out he was sick (he had no insurance and was in considerable pain). My aunt and Cindy were friendly with each other and got along just fine. We are thinking of naming the 2 girl kittens after them- Karen and Cindy. Just trying to decide if anyone would be offended by that? I don't think so but people sure can be weird! )

Kelly: I don't thing anyone should be upset by that, It's a very sweet gesture. Especially because everyone was friends. What boys names have been picked out? What colours are the kittens, can you take pics and post here. Even if you don't win, sounds like you've had fun participating!!!
