We're going to MSG on Dec. 22 for a college hoops game at noon. What should we do after the game? Hanging out, dinner etc. Since you guys are the NYC experts and all. ;)

On my phone now. Will give you some spots later when I get home. If you want awesomeItalian and are willing to hike a bit head up to Arthur ave. fucking awesome

You picked the right time to go to NYC if you want to continue to hate it. Going to be a fucking mad house 3 days before Christmas, especially a few hundred feet from Macys.

Like I said, if you are willing to take a hike and adventure out a bit head up to Arthur Ave in Fordham in the Bronx. A better Little Italy. I spent a whole lot of time up there. My brother (not really my brother but lived with my family for pretty much all of high school and after) is from near there so I have spent a lot of time in that hood. I fucking love it. A bit of a pain in the ass for public transportation and like I said, a hike. Probably best if you had a car.

Fairly convenient to Penn Station/MSG there are a few places I really like.

Mario Batali has a market called Eatly across from Madision Square Park that I fucking love. It's usually a zoo though. There are all different types of little restaurants scattered throughout the market that are great but on the top floor there is a sweet beer garden that I believe is a collaboration with Dogfish Head. I fucking love this place.

Awesome place called Cannibal....great beer and great meats

    http://thecannibalnyc.com/

Cannibal's sister restaurant called Resto. Also good beer and food. Beer is very pricey.

Lot's of good shit further downtown. Lure Fishbar is a personal favorite but nicer than everything else I listed.

    http://lurefishbar.tumblr.com/

Ate here a couple years ago before Syracuse played in the Jimmy V games at the garden, great oysters and seafood

    http://thejohndory.com/index.html

I love the upper west side near the Beacon. Lot's of awesome shit.

Bunch of good spots in Hell's Kitchen, not far from Penn Station either.

Just leave midtown. That place sucks. I guess a lot of the places I listed are midtown but just leave that zoo from Macys to Central Park

As for MSG...the location is a small part of what's so great about it.

oh shit, that goal was insane

I fucking despise the location of MSG. I call it Baghdad. I despise Penn Station. Convenient but nothing worthwhile there. All the bars are filled with creeps cheating on their wives before they head out to the suburbs. haha. Definitely convenient as shit though and right in the middle of a lot, just aren't a lot of great spots there.

You know the city a lot better than I do. I usually hit Stout, which is a decent spot

    So dumb (but not surprising)

He has ruined about half a dozen games (seemingly) that I've been to this year.

When Uggla hit that double I thought there were only 2 guys on base, then realized it was actually a 3-run double.  Good times.

I'm sure Rube will competently rebuild the bullpen in the offseason. :?

Apparently Kendrick, he of the 2-8 record and 5+ ERA in starts, said it's a matter of "What have you done for me lately?" in possibly being removed from the rotation.

Must be tough to make millions of dollars to pitch poorly and then pout about it.

why the hell did he pinch hit for dom brown in the 9th last night? 2nd time in the last few days. game was over but who cares? brown should get every possible at bat he can get in these 2 months. that pissed me off.

brown has looked good since coming back up. new swing is much better. hopefully the power is coming

got a call from phils ticket office today regarding the season ticket holder survey I submitted. I was honest with my opinion of amaro. I plan to call them back this weekend and further voice my displeasure with how this team is run.

I filled it out and as you might have guessed I went on a rant about Pimple-face, and also about ending up with Wigginton at 3B. I did mention my support of the bullpen youth movement, which obviously has not worked out this year, and my pleasure at the Hamels signing.

I dunno. I liked Liberthal being inducted. In fact, I think he embodies the "Fighting Phillies" mantra as much as anybody in my time as a fan. And by most statistical measures, he was better than Daulton. But we all love Daulton because we all love the '93 team. I'm more than fine with Liberthal in the wall of fame.

I hear you. Problem is honoring either of them celebrates mediocrity. Something this team does far too often

Also, Charlie Manuel is a fool. Get rid of him already

Well they are the losingest team in the history of North American professional sports...so celebrating mediocrity almost seems justified. They probably shouldn't induct someone EVERY year. But if they must, I'm fine with Liberthal this year. But who the heck are they gonna honor next year? The Phanatic?

Here's who I think some obvious future honorees will be: Burrell, Howard, Utley, Hamels, Rollins, Manager Charlie Manuel, GM Ruben Amaro.

Calm down, Fixer. I'm kidding about Amaro.

Apparently this year came down to Lieberthal or Schilling. I'm hoping that they went with their second choice.

And yeah, no way this franchise should be inducting someone every year. Pretty much a joke

I still don't understand why worley is still pitching. guy is obviously struggling and needs elbow surgery. they are almost 20 games back of DC. I don't get it

Damn. Wish I'd known - was down there from 11 till like 7. First in FDR, then all over the ballpark, and then Bar Mall.

By the way, this is the first time in 8 years of going to the ballpark that I ate something from Bull's other than the pulled pork sandwich. I gotta say the sampler isn't that bad of a price relative to everything else down there.

funny, I'm same way. Only reason I really choose Bulls is because the lines are so quick...don't miss much of the game if you go during play.

I have also had my share of dogs...esp on dollar dog nights.

Yeah, I've gorged on the dollar dogs, though they've become more rare nowadays.

Yeah, the Sampler C for 13.25 isn't bad when you consider a Schmitter is almost the same amount and other sandwiches run about 6/7 bucks.

I'd say the sausage and peppers is the best value, followed by the pulled pork and the bull dog.
  • Johnny AbruzzoJohnny Abruzzo Philly Posts: 11,964
I go to Bull's because it's close to my seats, prices are reasonable, food is pretty good, and the lines are short. Yeah, Sampler C is a good value.
