    I like this article - http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/phi ... lies_.html

Gotta figure Sandberg has a handshake deal with the Phils if he went from one AAA team to another. I'm assuming he'll be the bench coach next year and then take over in 2014.

I think I said this to Fixer the other day. I would put good money on him managing the Red Sox next year. Him for Farrell. A wild guess though, but I'd have to think they would be very interested.

I turned it off as soon as Dom didn't come up with it but from my only look, it looks like he should've caught it.

yeah probably should have. he made a great catch earlier in the game. But once again phillies blow another potential win for cliff lee

It was a save your ass catch. He over ran it and took a bad angle. He was jumping in to the wall and had to reach back and in to make it. Did you notice the only fan that tried to interfere with that catch was a Phillies fan?

This Lindblom guy was quite the pickup for Ruben.

my favorite part is having a $60 million closer who can't get 4 out saves. great investment

he should be their manager now. just hope he doesn't get a head job before they finally rid themselves of manuel

I didn't notice that, but pretty funny.

after I saw the replay of the HR I thought he probably should have caught it too. Brown has been much better than he was last year, but he still gets shitty reads and runs awful routes. Like you said, he almost missed that ball down the RF line. His athleticism allowed him to make up for almost making a terrible play. Hopefully he can keep getting better...they are gonna need him next year.

Can anyone answer why Dom doesn't play center? I thought that was his position in the minors. It would be nice if he drove a couple balls every now and then as well but at least he's out there.

he started in RF. Then they moved him to LF when they traded for pence. After struggling at both corner spots they moved him to CF for a while. Then they moved him back to RF. Now he's playing both corner spots again.

They haven't done the best job of handling him IMO. from what little I have seen, I don't think he'd have a prayer in CF

I still think Brown's best position might just be center. What the hell - just send him out there.

so tonight papeldork is available for a 4 out save, but earlier in the week he wasn't. makes no sense. I don't understand manuel's thought process with his bullpen.

The four stage set up blows. At Jazzfest (New Orleans) you could hear random music from other stages bleed into the PJ songs, especially the slow songs.

I liked the thing about Eddie Vedder complaining to Rolling Stone next year about the 4% city wage tax.

Pretty pumped. Surprised at the 4 stage set up. The original plan, I believe, was to have two stages next to each other (switch back and forth) and a DJ tent.

Was at the game last night. Got up to piss when Papelface came in to blow another one. All the fans were standing up and cheering when he came in. What did he ever do to deserve that? He fucking blows. People are fucking stupid. I was just about gloating about how much he sucks after his typically terrible performance.

great post. he is such a tool too, which makes his shittiness even more annoying.

have to admit that I have been keeping up with standings lately since they have started showing signs of life. pitt is gonna choke again this year. not sure they could have caught STL, but a nice series win vs cincy could have given them some life. Their sept schedule is a cakewalk.

But last night erased what faint hope remained. Stupid me for thinking otherwise.

I gave away my tix for tonight. Again

They have a ranking of all North American major pro uniforms on espn.com.

How would everyone rank the Philly teams?

    I'd go
    1- Phillies
    2- Flyers
    3- 76ers

    400- Eagles

They have the 76ers as the 4th best - Other 3 are all somewhere in the Top 50.

I think the Phillies have the best alternate jersey in all of sports. And Flyers have one of the sports' best logos.

If the Eagles wore those 1960 unis they would "soar" to the top. ba-da-dum

10 games back isn't necessarily insurmountable, but too many teams to pass. I'd be happy to finish 3rd in front of the Mets, and if Cole throws a no hitter. 8-)

d-bags #90: How to look like a minor league team: 1. Wear your nickname, instead of your full team name, on your chest. 2. Render the nickname in digital lettering that's difficult to decipher. 3. While you're at it, render your road insignia in a mix of upper- and lowercase lettering. 4. Add lots of black elements, just because.

I think the phils unis are the worst. It's a travesty that they don't have some form of philadelphia on their away jerseys. and the red pinstripes are too much of a ripoff from our neighbors to the north. and I think the 'phillies' logo is terrible...especially with the blue star dotting the I. I don't even like the off white 3rd jersey, though I do like the fact that it doesn't have pinstripes. their sunday hats are terrible too

so yeah, phils would be last for me.

    flyers
sixers (love the old style they brought back last year)
eagles (agree that they should go back to the kelly green plain look from the 60's)
    phils (distance 4th for me)

yeah, my thinking was that if they could get it down into the 6-8 range by the end of august, then they could still make a run. not a good chance, but it would have allowed for us to watch some semi-meaningful games for the first time since april
