Yeah, but the whole shit about that DA disappearing and his car ending up in the Susquehanna, lap top destroyed, and said hard drive "missing", makes a lot of sense now. I mean, isn't it weird how that's NOT a bigger story this entire time?

Yeah, you have been on that angle for a while. I don't know. That would get a lot of press and make a lot of money for a lot of news outlets. If there was any hint of a connection to Sandusky, I am sure they would be all over it. That dude was also apparantely working on some pretty high profile drug cases at the time with some pretty serious people. Never know though, especially with the mob angle in this.

Haha, well that's what I'm saying. Why isn't it a bigger story - even if it's not directly related to Sandusky? I mean a DA dude goes missing, with no explanation, car in the river, etc, etc, and that isn't interesting enough for an investigation?

I am sure it was at the time and a I am sure there was in 2005 or whenenver it was. When was the last time you heard about any non football, non Sandusky related news out of Centre County though? I know next to nothing about it, but I am sure it was investigated at the time and all.

Damnit, Cliff, why are you letting complete sensible rationale get in the way of a good conspiracy theory?!

    funny

Howard has always been a high-strikeout hitter, but 36 percent is astronomical even for him and even in the small sample size. To put this in perspective, Howard has taken the third-fewest swings (236) of the 21 National League first basemen who have logged at least 100 PA. Yet, he has the tenth-most swings and misses (82). In terms of percentages, Howard has swung at the second-fewest pitches in the strike zone (41 percent) and the third-most outside the strike zone (35 percent).

True but to extend your analogy, you guys that complain about him all day every day are like prisoners who have been sentenced to 6 years in prison, but scream at the guards to let you out during year 2. We're stuck with Howard and his contract. Just hope he improves over this offseason. I mean, we're Phillies fans! Have we lost our ability to hopelessly hope for things that probably won't happen? Have 2 pennants and a world title spoiled us that badly?

well, I didn't want him signed to an extension in the first place (especially 2 years prematurely)...so I was complaning about him before he signed his absurd contract. He's not going to improve next year. why? because he's nowhere near the player that everyone wants to remember circa 2008. That player doesn't work here anymore. We are stuck with the fat pear shaped body, his trash can esque range, and his patented one-armed helicopter flailing swing for the duration of his albatross of a contract. should be fun.

hopelessly hoping is pretty awesome though. that's what we are all going to spend the offseason doing while we wait for amaro to fix this mess of a roster. ugh

We know. You post it all time. And when I say "hope he gets better', I'm never expecting him to be the Ryan Howard who was offered that contract. But he has to be better than this. From here on out,it's not even about him living up to the contract and it's a waste of time to bother comparing him to Fielder, Votto, or anybody else you'd rather have. I'm not delusional enough to think he can regain his 2006-2009 form. At this point, I'd just like to see him return to his 2010-2011 form...which is possible...to hopelessly hope for.

I have to say that giving credit to Howard for the Phils 17-14 record (whooptie damn doo) is ridiculous. He's been borderline terrible. I would think he'll be better than this next year (right?).

    I like this article - http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/phi ... lies_.html

Gotta figure Sandberg has a handshake deal with the Phils if he went from one AAA team to another. I'm assuming he'll be the bench coach next year and then take over in 2014.

I turned it off as soon as Dom didn't come up with it but from my only look, it looks like he should've caught it.
