Haha, I gotcha. Yanks were the better team that year though. Who knows what a couple more hits from Howard would have done but I do think the Yanks showed they were better.

Anyway, I don't know how much matsui would help the phils. I guess he'd be OK to have as a pinch hitter, but I wouldn't expect much from him.

they could use a LH off the bench. since gload was diagnosed with the labrum tear in his hip he has been useless. I like him a lot, but he's hurt

I feel like the phils and birds are on the same schedule

Hopefully hamels has a smooth start tonight. If his shoulder isn't right I will be lighting myself on fire

i guess you forgot who was NLCS MVP to get us there and that our manager started our 6TH starting pitcher two times in the series which is the equivalent of kyle kendrick starting 2 this year.

Oh Fixer, at some point you're gonna have to get over Howard's performance in the '09 World Series. Rollins and Victorino were just as shitty as he was. They lost as a team.

They had 2 guys on the whole fucking team who played well in that series. Amazing they made it to 6 games.

The MVP should've been split between Cliff & Chase, the 2 best players in the series. The Yanks had the 3rd (Pettitte, Matsui & Marte 3rd, 4th & 5th) thru 27th best players in the series though.

Phillies had PLENTY of candidates for LVP in addition to NLCS MVP R6. Such as Lidge & Hamels in addition to Rollins and Victorino as LBD said.

tonight is all about Hamels and the shoulder. victory is secondary to that.

yeah, definitely agree. actually would be smart for them to have him on a pitch count...around 80 or so

how was that at-bat in the 8th with the tying run on 3rd with a 2-0 count on our 7th best pitcher? i guess it didn't matter though since RBIs don't count

Hamels looked awesome. Good news for Reds is they only get Halladay and Lee the next two nights :D

Man it was good to actually get to sit down and watch a game. You get so used to games almost every night then they go through a stretch of off days, day games and rainouts and it seems like have barely seen this team in the past 2 weeks.

    .

didn't he fly out? I don't remember the result.

not sure why you are ripping him for one AB...the guy is a flat out beast. remember when you laughed at me for saying Id take votto over howard? that was funny then...hilarious now

Kind of crazy that Votto was MVP last year and isn't even being mentioned this year with almost the exact same numbers.

.815 OPS for Howard? Saw that last night and couldn't believe it.

he's having by far the worst year of his career. good thing he signed that huge extension

at least he has a lot of RBIs
