I really don't care about the two pitching implosions, they'll be fine. I'm just happy to see them HIT!!! that was the biggest fear.

4 more months of this type of play and I'll start to forgive him for the '10 playoffs. and the '09 WS

he even made a nice throw to second the other night

Lefty going for the mets today, so I have a feeling he's got an 0 fer coming

they won the WS in '08 mostly because of hamels. he threw way more pitches in '08 than he ever had in his career. look up the verducci effect and educate yourself.

hamels should never be booed here. period

howard has whiffed in 30 of his last 56 playoff ABs (wow, that's even worse than I imagined) he's just not that good

Even though I totally disagree with you about Cole being above booing from all the other fans. I for one will never boo him or Brad Lidge just on the basis of the 2008 season.

i agree hamels should never be booed here. he gets a lifetime pass for '08. but i've been here long enough, and so have you, to not let that shit bother me. again--schmidt got booed for 2 decades here.

nobody is above criticism though, and he did not pitch well at all 2 years ago. and he acted a bit like a bitch in the post season. howard had a great post season in '08 and very well could have won the nlcs mvp in '09. obviously we're all aware of his struggles. just seems like you kinda have a double standard overlooking one's struggles and repeatedly talking about the other's struggles.

    it's all good though.

    161-1

edit---howard did win the nlcs mvp in '09. completely forgot about that :lol:

I'm willing to give hamels a pass for '09 because of his workload in '08 (big deal for younger pitchers)

I could care less about individual awards.

I will always root for howard as long as he's on the phils. I would never boo him either. He's accomplished way too much here and was an integral piece of them winning in '08. unfortunately he could also be the biggest scapegoat in the '09 WS and '10 playoffs. I know he's loved in philly, but the guy is flat out overrated.

oh my god. you and your "individual awards."  then forget about the trophy howard won in the 09 nlcs. substitue that for the way he played for the trophy instead (which was the point). jesus dude. the phils very well wouldn't have gotten to the ws that year without the way he played against the dodgers and rockies.

and again, i could give a shit about people being booed. shit's been going on well before i got here and will go on well after i'm gone.

Howard carried the team into the 2009 World Series. He just couldn't figure out Damaso Marte. It happens. It's a game of matchups. In 2010 playoffs he was injured - maybe he shouldn't have been playing.

'just get me to the plate boys" is one of my alltime favorite phillies moments. that team was close to being dead before that inning.

Those 2 wins in Denver are 2 of the most underrated games in Phils history. My sister & bro-in-law were there freezing their asses off & rooting for the Rox.

It's so nice to see Howard's bat making moves. Francisco has been on fire, too. Not sure how long it's going to last, but I'll take it. Also nice to see Chooch making an appearance :D

By the way, nice to have some new folks on here. First thing you need to do is choose your side in the Great Ten Club Philadelphia Ryan Howard Debate.

agreed. underrated because of how the season ultimately ended, and because of being wfc the year before. but yeah, those games were as intense as baseball gets.

that's awesome your sis was able to go to it.

Wife and I were at 2007 Games 1 & 2 (this year is known in our house as the Great Lost Phillies Playoff Ticket Event), and 2009 Game 2, so we are 0-3 in playoff games vs. Rox. But they are 0-2 in Rox games vs. Phils.

Funny thing is that a bad year is 31hrs 108 rbi's and a 276 avg. That tells me that the man must be damn good to have those numbers be considered bad.

Just making a comment not talking about anyone by name just an observation. You should dislike him and overrated because of a contract makes no sense. Just like the Werth contract is he worth that much,no but what should they do not take it? Did Howard under produce compared to years past, for sure.

Dude, I completely forgot to tell you this. My fucking landlord picked up the mail that piles up and took them like a moron. Says he has it and has said he is going to drop them off 20 times now, but hasn't yet. The first shitty thing this landlord has done. I will let you know. Can't believe I forgot to mention this to you.

I don't care about the shitty contract, not on my team so it makes no difference to me. I don't like him because I don't think he's that good and I have no reason to like him. I don't enjoy watching him play like I do other good baseball players. It's all or nothing with him and thats boring to me.

Edit: Obviously he should take the contract, it was offered. Just like the shitty Arod contract. I don't fault him one bit for it, in fact I appalud him, but what it does is put him in a category of players that he does not belong with.
