isn't it refreshing to see us all agree on something here?
this was a pretty damn good way for amaro to redeem himself.
phils should have had lee all year to begin with. not a complete redemption, but a nice move
and to whoever asked, yes, the trade is done. oswalt pitching friday or saturday for phils vs dc
agreed.....my only point was i dont think there was any other better option for him to make this year than this. say what you want about rube, at least he admits he made a mistake and tried to rectify it in a timely matter......unlike your fat boy across the streetwww.myspace.com0 -

Yeah, he's pitching tomorrow night.
If they go to the WS then Amaro's totally redeemed himself. Also, you get Oswalt next year, which you wouldn't have gotten with Lee.
Prospects aside - and that's exactly what they are, prospects - I look at it this way: Clif Lee and JA Happ for Roy Halladay and Roy Oswalt. And I'm more than fine with that.0 -

Of course you could have just released Blanton in the offseason and had:
Halladay, Lee, Oswalt, Hamels as your rotation.
But I can't complain too much for what the Phils have gotten today.- Busted down the pretext

C'mon, now. What am I doing, playing a video game?
I will give Amaro the benefit of the doubt for saying if you wanted Halladay you couldn't have Lee too. I'll give him that. I just don't like the way they did both trades at the same time.0 -
although I'm not a huge Oswalt fan have to say thanks to Ed Wade for his continuing moronic deadline deals. Phils didn't give up too much and got $11 million dollars in the deal - how is that possible? Definitely take Oswalt as our third starter. Braves got to be worrying now.0

ed wade loves giving away EVERYTHING at the trade deadline.
god bless him.
--i once saw him at a villanova game at the corestates center back in the day. i was about 15 feet away and gave him the ol' " HEY ED WADE---YOU SUCK!" he pretended to not notice. but i know it still haunts him to this very day.
bear in mind this was a 25 year old jeagler with waaaaaaaay too many beers in him for 12:30 in the afternoon.

I worked with his daughter at the Sixers who went on to be Jay Wrights assistant basically. I know they are very good friends with him. She hates the Phillies by the way, haha.0 -
Astros already traded Gose for Wallace who was part of the Halladay trade.0

if i am not mistaken i think wade is a villanova alum too........also--that was a nova/syracuse game by the way. mcnamara's last game here so he bussed the entire city of scranton to town. it was pretty annoying.www.myspace.com0 -

Not sure, she went to Villanova, I know that for sure. Barely knew who Ed Wade was before I moved here to be honest.
They ran busses to every game in Syracuse as well for 4 years.0 -

Nah, Wade is a Penn guy.
Used to see him at Penn Princeton back in the day sitting with the Gov and Montgomery.
One game in February 2003, I was with my buddy who works for Rendell and he got tix next to them and I got to put an earlock on Montgomery for 2 hours and gave him hell for trading Schilling and Rolen away. It was awesome.
Montgomery took it in good stride because I never cursed and never got too abusive and told me to send my resume to the office because they're always looking for fellow Penn slum down there, but I never did. It's one of the minor regrets I have.- Busted down the pretext

People have to die at the Phillies for you to get a promotion. I know quite a few people down there. Good people. Eric Gregg's son, who is in PR at the Phillies used to send us pictures of him playing catch with Manuel during spring training while we were sitting at our desks at like 8 in the morning. Best job in the world.0 -
Wade went to Temple. Maybe he went to Penn for graduate.0

I remember Wade telling the story of how he got fired with some reporter. He was changing light bulbs in his living room when the phone rang. To say he was bitter is an understatement. To think he thought he had a cush position here? Where did he get the balls to think so? I guess the way the team was being run up until then he could afford to think that way.
Remember when he got into a fight with players in the Houston locker room? That's some funny shit right there.0 -

His daughter was just as bitter, we all went to a lot of Phillies games the year I moved down here and she would not step foot in the stadium with us.0 -

Ha. I guess she doesn't understand her dad isn't good at what he does.0
