I saw that when it came out. Is it something with them boarding a abandoned ship and it turns... twilight zoneish?
This one, right.. but it was confusing and i didn't get it..

It’s on my list to go see, but yeah, reviews are not great. Still my A List says it’s free, so . . .

I thought the set up and main part of the movie was fine. Good atmosphere and suspenseful.  The ending kind of fell apart and was a little silly.

Run Lola Run.  fun watch. still think 1 ending instead of 3 would have been better

I thought this would be over the top. It definitely was. 😆

This is absolutely no Jaws or Deep Blue Sea. But I definitely laughed out loud a couple of times.

I can't watch that type of movies in the CGI-era. They are so charmless and digital. Piranha 3D, Meg etc. At least Deep Blue Sea's CGI is 90's janky to the level of being a modern take of a Roger Corman movie.

I don't get why A Bridge Too Far only has 59% on Rotten Tomatoes and got a mixed(?) reception when it came out.

I found it very impressive. And I did not know how it would go and end, so when things started turning it got really stressful and stayed that way throughout. It was like watching an old Donald Duck cartoon in just how things constantly goes against him.

And great actors popping out in that "all out ensamble" cast way, we haven't gotten since that time. If you don't count that short era of "New Years Eve/Mothers Day" ensemble drama-romcom-comedies with Jennifer Annisto, Jennifer Lopez and Ashton Kutcher and the like.

By the way, Disney made a new classic Donald Duck cartoon to celebrate him turning 90. Not that far removed from A Bridge Too Far:

A Bridge Too Far was one of my Dad’s favourite movies when I was growing up. It’s a classic and it has a hell of a cast. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen it.

Kelly’s Heroes, Dirty Dozen, Tobruk, and The Great Escape were some of the other movies in regular rotation at the time. I watched Kelly’s Heroes again a few weeks ago and I still love it.

I’ll have to check out A Bridge Too Far. Missed that one somehow.

^Heroes, Dozen, and Escape are great!

My dad loved The Bridge Over the River Kwai. I enjoy that one as well. We caught it one summer at the Fox Theater.

Yeah, for sure, these movies lose something without some of the practical effects. CGI might be good for someone’s budget (or more likely it’s just easier and they don’t want to take the time for something else), but doesn’t mean you should use it all the time.

It's not "Apocalypse Now Nightmare like" even though the story could have been told that way (being done in the late 70s and all). But it is more of a classic looking war film, balancing up the lack of Francis Ford Coppola with a nice slight tone of comedy in places.

I might follow it up with a rewatch of Patton.

I have found this movie literally intolerable, lol. I think I have turned it off three times because I just couldn't stand watching it any longer. I keep resuming just because I invested the time so figure I may as well see the ending, but I still haven't reached it, and it's been 5 days now. It's not the CGI so much as it is the stupid storyline.

This movie ends with the Seine suffering numerous explosions, flooding the city, and freeing the multiplying sharks. Crazy.
