^This is on my list to watch, but now I’m scared to!
  • CarryTheZeroCarryTheZero Posts: 2,891

Watched this with my son tonight. Forgot how much fun it is. The cast is great. Ed Harris is the absolute shit. Cage and Connery are great together. Lots of good character actors down the line (David Morse, William Forsythe, and the original Candy Man, Tony Todd!).

Having just watched Fall Guy, I was on the lookout for practical stunts, and this one is absolutely full of them. The car chase through San Francisco alone is so much over the top destruction (yet no one is killed!); it’s amazing. My son was laughing through that section as the absurdity piles up (yet it works in all its 90s Bruckheimer/Simpson glory).  Some car companies must have gotten some great tax write offs with all of those destroyed automobiles.

If I must quibble, Michael Biehn dies too early. Any movie with Hicks/Reese is aces in my book. He does get a fiery scene with Ed Harris though.

    Good stuff.

^I haven’t watched The Rock in years, but I remember enjoying it.

A few nights ago I watched Iron Claw. Oh man, it was so sad. Good but incredibly tragic.

Claw is good. That last scene in the front yard is pretty great.

I watched Apocalypse Now. The theatrical cut. Because I’m not a perverted sicko.

Haha. I actually watched Apocalypse Now Redux for the first time a few weeks ago, while visiting my dad. Still not sure how I feel about it..

Just got back. This was really great. It does not try to be Fury Road, which is just fine (although Fury Road’s DNA is all over this).

This is not the 2 hour car chase that Fury Road was, more a 20 year epic. Joy (and the younger actress) are wonderful and Hemsworth does a great villain. Some great action, and does a wonderful job telling Furiosa’s story.

Pro tip: if you haven’t seen Fury Road (wait, what’s wrong with you? Why haven’t you seen that beast of a movie?), then you can watch this, but skip the end credits. Although, I suggest really watching Fury Road first.

I have seen the redux a couple times, and while it doesn't enhance the movie at all - the theatrical cut is far superior, mostly because of that whole stupid French plantation sequence in the Redux - I am not really getting the perverted sicko part, hahaha.
