    How was it?
Not great.  Definitely made me laugh out loud out a few times and there are some clever scenes. But it is not a good movie.

I agree, it wasn't very good. Hit on some of the nostalgia from the first one, but other than that thought it was pretty weak.

Uncut Gems. Solid role by Sandler but average at best. I haven’t seen a movie that was new to me that ended up being great in a while unfortunately.

The arrows fired at Mifune in the climax are not a special effect. That’s professional archers firing real arrows inches away from his face, which could be why his fear is so palpable.

I dig his contemporary films as well. Usually, Ikuru gets all the love there, but the grittier crime dramas (Drunken Angel, Stray Dog, The Bad Sleep Well) are all fantastic.

Have you seen Brainstorm? Strange but interesting.

There was a great documentary about Natalie Wood that her daughter Natasha Gregson is in. It was on HBO. It was really interesting. She was in some great movies starting from when she was a child actress. I think the documentary is called “Natalie Wood: What Remains Behind.” It also goes into her drowning with the whole Christopher Walken thing as well.

A friend said the same "Have you seen Brainstorm? You should!". I haven't. But just days ago I happened upon some documentary/interview on youtube about the miniatures/effects in that film -- without even having seen the film or knowing muchg about it. All roads lead to Brainstorm. Will have to watch it.

Admittedly I do not know much about Natalie Wood at all, except for her husband having one of the better roles in Towering Inferno, but I was chocked to find out through the podcast that she was brutally beaten and raped at 15 by FAMOUS ICONIC AND BELOVED AMERICAN ACTOR that seemingly Robert Downey JR (even though it was rumoured/known by Natalie Wood mentioning it to friends through the years) naming the actor on a "hollywood rumours" blog years ago.

Chocked, disgusted and felt uneasy going to sleep after that.

I watched that (well most of it, missed the first few minutes) when it was on HBO originally, still think her death was not a pure acident.

Portrait of a Lady on Fire

An absolute treat for the eyes (minus one shot of pit-hair gone wrong). The lead reminded me of a feminine Jack White - something about her nose and intensity of her eyes.

Not a movie but a bio/doc of Soleil Moon Frye, aka Punky Brewster.  It was fantastic.  I really, really hope she does more of this.

She unearthed her journals and vhs tapes from when she was a teenager.  She was always filming.  The people she was friends with is incredible.  2 things I never knew were that she dated Danny Boy from House of Pain and she was friends with Casper(Justin Peirce and Harold Hunter.

Give it a watch.  It’s on Hulu.  Highly recommended.
