Too bad Stevens' forgot to bring up Hartnell's cross check to Kostopolous' head (Kostopolous manned up to the sucker punch, btw).

That started last round, in your own series no less.

Honestly I didn't see all the game....Who did Hartnell catch ?

There is a real trend in these playoffs where the team that is losing is getting late PP's almost every game to tie it

It's not like all these penalties are blown calls anyway. A lot of peeps are doing stupid things to take late penalties.
Hartnell gave Kostopolous a cross check in the back of the head. Kostopolous sucker punched Timonen then may have sat on him.

A lot of the calls have been borderline

Whats a slash isn't always slash....then in 3rd its a slash the same slash that happens 99% of the game

Yeps. There's borderline calls, a lot of "call this one but not that one" but that is nothing new, and a lot of missed stuff.

That's great..... hopefully we'll see a few more of those goal celebrations tonite. I admit it was great hearing the Montreal fans reaction to his goal in game 2 :D

Hopefully Biron slips up and loses confidence, and the Philly fans sound like the Habs fans. He was stellar in game 2, and we can't have that ;)

that its right on... you don't go after the player who took liberties with your player, you go after a player who is of similar importance to their team.

And yeah the Downie statement was pretty much right on as well.

Oh, well yeah you're right there.
The Downie statement has some merit (also cause he has a reputation), but no one was up in arms when Koivu was hit from behind into the post. Guess it's cause he didn't score?

Don't recall the Koivu play but I do remember Upshall being crosschecked into the back of the net after a whistle and the ref WARNING the Habs player. Then I'd say less than 5 minutes later, Carter does the same thing in front of the net while shorthanded and a penalty is called.... Coburn was made to serve it for some dumb reason.... but again goes to show the unbalanced way these games have been officiated all playoffs, and I don't see it changing.

No no, I know the play you are referring to, Carter got away with it and Coburn got a penalty separate from that on his own.
Did Kostopolous get a penalty for sitting on whoever he sat on? He was sandwiched behind the net and Hatcher (who I really don't like, but that started long before he was on Philly) sat on him then and didn't get called.

I wouldn't say the officiating is 'unbalanced', because both teams are getting the highs and lows. "Inconsistent" would be more accurate.
    ;)

And I was not saying a sucker punch is ok, earlier.

Kosto got his penalty for roughing so either it was for the punch or for something after it....
yeah I meant inconsistent but mind fingers going faster than mind and unbalanced was born...
didn't think you were, figure you understand there is no place for that in this league especially with the bullshit instigator penalty in place.

I'm not big on the dirty shit. Rough is A-OK, but keep it clean I say.

^Notes: In response to a Washington Post column that described Flyers fans as “women and children could be security for Megadeth,” lead singer Dave Mustaine sent a videotaped message of support.

Marty was spectacular once again... let's hope this will continue.
    No they haven't

Yeah he seems almost disinterested... its ashame but good for the Flyers and I'm starting to think his glove side just plain out sucks. I don't want to believe that but that's how it has looked the last few games.

And on the Megadeth thing, the Flyers really played it up for Game 4 against the Caps. They kept showing quotes on the big screen during pregame and even showed a Megadeth poster with orange clad Flyers fans looking like zombies running out of it.. looked slick.

A word about the Hatch penalty... it was a boarding call, 5 minutes is debatable but I can accept that ( a double minor might have been more apporpriate but ok)... my problem with it is that there was no call on the interference on the same play against Umberger. He was clearly interferred with and had not touched the puck.... just another of the many inconsistent officiating calls this postseason.

From past games I can say Price's glove side has never looked particularly weak, but both Boston and Philadelphia have been going for it (and it's worked for both teams).
I don't know if boarding is the right call, but it wasn't clean. Montreal got away with calls last night and so did Philadelphia, who was already in the box half the night anyway (and rightfully so).
Pretty despicable play from a few Flyers last night, and as a throwback to Kostopolous's sucker punch, I found it interesting that no one even mentions the fact that Downie threw a sucker punch of his own in much the same way minutes before TK's cheap shot in the same game.
I'm pissed as hell at the game last night but enough about it. Look for Halak in nets tomorrow. Very underrated goaltender but no experience in playoffs at either NHL or AHL level.

And yes, Biron was amazing again. He's won two games in a row for you, props to him.

How was the Flyers play dispicable???? Montreal tried all night to run Biron after the whistle....
Good luck with Halak, he didn't seem too happy about Richards skating thru the crease last night ;)

This is what makes me despise officiating in this league:
"Originally, he was going to give me 2 and then he saw a trickle of blood and made it 5. One thing Mike Knuble said to me was if they had been calling that all year, then guys like me and [Boston's Zdeno] Chara would never be able to play." - Hatcher

So if he doesn't bleed its only a 2 minute minor... but with blood it makes it a 5 and a game??? That's bullshit!! There is a reason for the double minor penalty and it should be used. Fuck that's what pisses me off about the whole 2 for a high stick unless the guy bleeds and then its 4.... ridiculous.

Downie tripped Price, tried to stomp his glove when he had the puck covered, Upshall threw an elbow at Halak, Hatcher's predicted cheap shot wasn't the only hit from behind...
Montreal didn't run Biron. Got in his face, yeah, so did you guys on Price, but that's every team.
Downie was a dirt machine all, Upshall a little bit too.

Yeah they usually go 4, the 5 and a game is off. I guess that it wasn't a high stick, but boarding was their basis?

It was a board but how do you go from 2 to a 5 and a game just for blood??? Hell the guy was good enough to pop right up and crosscheck Hatch in front of the net right after the play...

Nah... debating whether to go tomorrow or not. Still on a high after the 2 OT win versus the Caps in Game 4 that I attended :)

Dunno about the 5 and a game, but as before, I'm not surprised at all that Hatcher hit that way.

You weren't there, so I won't have to make a snide remark about booing the national anthem ;)

Hey its not right booing any nation anthem but the Habs fans did boo the Star Spangled Banner, so you can't just point fingers at Flyers fans.
