Isn't it times like this when you wish could haul out a flame thrower sized device and spray people with gallons of liquid shit? (flavor of your choosing)

I know it does for me...

Wait... do you want to spray shit on the OP or on the kids eating pizza?
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

Man, I bet I've laughed at the stuff in this thread about 100 times since it started. There have been some pretty good responses. I'm never going to a McDonald's in England lest I see a hairy ass planted right under the golden arches.

It's thanks to the 'literary prowess' you speak of, that cultural norms are established.

Yes, I've learned a new 'cultural norm' here. Apparently it is perfectly acceptable to throw food on the ground, touch other peoples' food, disrupt others and generally behave unruly because you have a disability. Integrating into society be damned, let's just have EVERYBODY run amok. That's the sensible way. Let everyone shit where they want, throw food, grope others, murder, what the fuck. Do what you want. I can't judge you. Pearl Jam fans say so.

I usually enjoy your self indulgent rhetoric, but right now it's getting annoying.

Tell me, what part of my 'prejudices' (perceived by you) have led me to believe that a strangers hands all over my food is unsafe? That having the floor, which I and other customers traverse, covered with food and mess. What's prejudiced about thinking it gross that people eat OVER the buffet? Sorry, your literary prowess and over indulgence may impress some of the simple minds here, but I can call bullshit when I read (translate) it.

I'll tell you the difference. It has nothing to do with bullshit. It's the difference between objective reality and opinion. The decision that a stranger's hands all over your food is unsafe is an opinion, backed up with some loose allusion to science. What makes you think these people are any less clean than, say, your wife (if you have one, not being personal), anyway? I'm sure one thing a carer does is make sure their toilet hygiene is seen to. Unless you have documentary evidence to the contrary.

So, the floor is covered with food and mess. People get paid to clean it up. That's an objective fact, not an opinion.

The opinion that any kind of behaviour is gross is, by definition, a prejudice. If you liked people eating over a buffet, that would be a bias.

So, now, there was nothing over indulgent about that. I spelt it nicely and first grade for you.

Ok, that is REALLY unfair. The OP said the behavior was gross. He pointed out they were special needs, and obviously unsupervised when they should have been. Two seperate things. Never said their handicap was 'gross'. That's not cool using that comparison.

Not at all. If you choose to take a shit at the bar, and they kick you out or others yell 'gross'!!! Is that simply their logical reaction or are they bigoted against show off erudite Brits? :p

I'd say they're just having a human reaction. But you can damn the man all you want.

I'm Irish. I can shit where I like. After all, the Brits did for 800 years.

  • Too hairy. That's my horrendous disability. Maybe I should put it up against the window of McDonalds.

I was just about to say 'Goodnight' and that yourself and harmless rock! Now you've settled it. I have closure. :D;):D

IMO, this has got ridiculously out of hand and I'm sorry to the OP and his friend. Sorry that I was a part of it also. :) I'm sorry you had a rough dining experience but its all about perspective. :o IMO

OMG Give me a break. That is not even close to being a reasonable comparison. Again, YOU are putting the emphasis on their 'condition'. If black people were throwing food about and acting disorderly, then it was definitely in the right of the dining hall to refuse them. But because they are black? Of course not. Same applies here. NOBODY, read carefully now, NOBODY said these people should be allowed to eat there, or for that matter make a mess at their OWN TABLE. But when you infringe on other people, then they are responsible, or their 'caretaker' is.

Once again, I repeat for those who continue to act as this has been said: Nobody said they should leave, the OP didn't approach them or yell at them, etc etc. He simply said the 'scene was gross'.

you dont seem to be getting it. not only is black NOT a 'condition' nor is it a disability. based on that alone your scenario can not be compared to the intellectually disabled people in this 'conversation', these people that are being ragged on for being at the centre of this 'gross' scene do not have the complete function of their brain. and any regulartory action that we as a society deem 'normal' may be completely out of their control. im not sure what level of responsibility you expect from them? they deal the best they know how. but yes i do agree their caretaker should be responsible for their actions regardless of what those actions are.

anyway i'll tell you whats gross... when my eldest daughter was rather young she vomitted all over a table whilst we were in a family restaurant. wonder if anyone started a thread about it on the net somewhere. :p:D

Agreed, my wife (hypothetical) touching my food is a personal choice. Some people have leeway with close family members, and some people don't with anyone. It is also expected that food preparers touch your food, that is the chance you take dining out. What is NOT acceptable is OTHER stranger, or patrons touching your food. If that happens when a waiter delivers it to you, it is usually taken back. That is not acceptable. A buffet is more of an open area where judgement should be prudent. Sometimes food is touched, that's the chance you take. Such a disgusting scene that the OP describes is something entirely different. Again, all he did was express his disgust. He didn't start a f'n crusade about it.

Fine, I'm biased, I don't like people eating over a buffet, throwing food on the floor or touching my food. You caught me.

Oh, and don't f'n call me racist or imply I'm biased against handicapped people again. Asshole.

I didn't bring up black...Fin did. I simply said that it is not about the person...it's about the behavior. If it can't be controlled, they shouldn't be allowed to run amok. Be supervised. When my grandfather had a stroke and was incapacitated, we didn't just push him into a restaurant and hope for the best, we would walk him in, sit him down and watch him and care for him. If someone can't control their behavior to societal norms (subjective as it may be) without disrupting others, then someone should be responsible for them.

If these people were being gross at their own table, I guarantee everyone here would think so. Maybe you wouldn't stare or whatever, but it's a human reaction. When you put it into a (more) public area, such as the buffet bar, as opposed to a private table, you are taking it into a completely different domain.
