Here's one option...,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Go out to party....bar....meet up...concert...what have you,... Have a few drinks. Meet boy. Hang out with boy. Drink more....kiss boy....go on date....drink a bit...kiss a bit...etc...
this is not the info I'm looking for. I've gone to parties/bars/concerts, many, many, many many of them. Meeting boys at one? this has happened hmmm, maybe like 5 times over my 30-year life span. Have a few drinks- done that plenty of times...drink more- done that too, lord knows...kiss boy- out of the 5 boys I've met out, maybe this has happen with 3...go on date- never gotten to this point. What I need to know is all the stuff in between that actually makes this process work...I need like the theory and the practical application.
1) How did you MEET your significant other (or your last one)?
2) How did you then TRANSITION from just knowing this person or liking them to actually being in a romantic relationship? Did you ask them out on a date and then it was just implied? Did you suddenly like kiss or something? Did you just like, tell them you liked them?
thanks for the help with my research!!!
1. Before a PJ show a friend and I met a couple of girls who within an hour offered to allow us to stay at their hotel with them (we were from out of town and had some shaky accomodations set up). These girls were also from out of town and lived less than an hour from where I lived at the time. They knew of a girl who would be perfect for me so they set us up.
2. We started hanging out as a group and then it transitioned into just the two of us. It was very comfortable and relaxed, no pressure. Started with dinner and a movie and then went from there. The first kiss was also a natural progression.
"The leads are weak!"
"The leads are weak? Fuckin' leads are weak? You're Weak! I've Been in this business 15 years"
Basically, all of that just adds up to a feeling that he gives me that is like nothing else I have ever experienced. That's how I knew I was in love with him.
Isn't it amazing how that works? There is really no way to quantify it or to explain it to someone who hasn't had the feeling... When it first happens, you feel like you can conquer the world.

dude wtf??? you have gone soft this week? whaz up?
this explains so much about the irish guys I meet in bars...you have no idea...
no wonder they never call again.
I have no idea? I live here
Irish men are possibly, with the exception of the British oh and the aussies and the kiwis, the easiest in the world... all ya have to do is look at them and you've pulled

Copenhagen?? your light made us stars
Chicago 07? And love
What a different life
Had I not found this love with you
I always assumed a kiss(ing) on the first date was normal...
Yep... how could I have forgotten Canadian men being easy also
I somehow ended up drinking with a group of Canadians one time and they came to the conclusion that they could never go out with a girl unless there was a chance she could be bisexual at some stage I swore at that moment that I would never date a Canadian

lol, no he wasn't drunk. He just thinks my nose is cute, and wanted to kiss it. He didn't miss my mouth or anything...lol.
We just were certain that we loved each other. We'd been talking for 6 months before we met, and really got to know each other very well. I loved his values, his intellect, his humor. I loved his outlook on life, and I loved who he was/is as a person. I could go on...lol. Basically, all of that just adds up to a feeling that he gives me that is like nothing else I have ever experienced. That's how I knew I was in love with him.
haha no I thought he might be drunk because it would be hard to kiss someone you were just friends with if you weren't.
I see you being certain you loved him, but how on earth would you know if he loved you?
my curiosity about these things is never satisfied... this is something I just can't figure our how many people I ask and how many times it comes up on this board. So as specifically as possible, please answer these 2 questions for me:
1) How did you MEET your significant other (or your last one)? Work? School? Bar? Match.com? Did one of you drop your papers on the street and look up and see the other one and fall in love at first sight?
2) How did you then TRANSITION from just knowing this person or liking them to actually being in a romantic relationship? Did you ask them out on a date and then it was just implied? Did you suddenly like kiss or something? Did you just like, tell them you liked them?

I met my husband in a music class in college. The first semester we just smiled and said "Hi." The second semester he asked me out on the first day.
Yep... how could I have forgotten Canadian men being easy also

They were so full of shit.
Alcohol blurs reality and fantasy...er, and odds.
2. Painfully awkwardly We started talking A LOT, and we eventually started talking about a new movie that we both wanted to see, and we ended up going together. I was technically her boss, and she is younger than me, so I was thinking that A) I didn't have a chance, and this could screw me job-wise, so I was overly cautious... Eventually we got past this awkward stage and started a "top secret" romance. The fact that we hid it from everyone at work the first month or so, made it more fun Fast forward 4 years, and we are married with a beautiful baby boy
ok so pretty normal way to get the date, but what I'm missing is how you got from going to the movies together as friends to having a top secret romance? I mean everyone is basically leaving out the important parts here...

You're trying to understand that which has no explanation.

2.) she backed her ass up into my junk while blocking her friend from doing the same. and then eventually turned around and started kissin me. went outside in the cold winter rain and kissed more. began a 1 1/2 year long distance deal until i moved in with her.

alcohol is looking like a common denomenator.
I guess one needs to just get shit-faced and kiss every other shit-faced person they see until one asks them out on a date?
but there are people out there getting with people they already know...that is just the mind blowing part.
Well, we worked at a failing paper supply firm. She was the receptionist and we really clicked and became good friends. Unfortunately, she was engaged and it killed me to see her with him. One day we had casino night in thw warehouse and I got a bit drunk and informed her of the feelings I had. Her wedding was weeks away and I'm pretty sure she was caught by surprise and said she was still going to marry him. That's when I decided to tranfser to another office, I just needed a new begin. When I was there I met a really cool girl and we started dating. Then a bombshell hits. The branch I transfered to is getting shut down and being absorbed into my old branch. So after much deliberation I decided to move back with this new girl. Well we got back and it was fine for a little while, but things were awkward between my old friend and I. I was still dating the girl from the new office, but my feelings for the old friend never died. Some crazy things occured, but later I decided to apply for a corporate position. I didn't get the position, but realized I should be with my friend who is the receptionist. I left the girl I was seeing in New York, drove back to Scranton, and asked her on a date. It was the beginning of something beautiful...
oh I kiss on the first date all the time, I'm talking about kissing random people in bars.
Do you mean that literally? I don't think people 'randomly' kiss people... welll some people might...
I don't think that you can try to explain physical chemistry in a plain, logical sense...
Being 'in love' with someone is different things to different people...
'Falling in Love' and 'Being in Love' are very different as well...
My best explanation of what 'falling in love' feels like is 'complete retardation'
'Being in Love' on the other hand... is the most beautiful, sound, secure feeling in the world... feeling like you are exactly where you belong... with the person you belong with
Exercising her will to lose control...
she lets go

No way!!! made a T.V. sitcom about a story similar to that. That just goes to show how the writers can paralell real life so well.

I kissed her after the first date... it was a bad kiss, but I was lucky that she liked me, because she gave me another shot. You are trying to look at the individual trees instead of the forest. The details of everyone's experiences are going to be similar, but different. There is no rhyme or reason to why we develop feelings for someone, but once it's obvious that we have them, you just have to take a shot... sometimes that involves asking them out, sometimes it's after you have already been out and you make the next move...

We worked in the same office (though not in the same department, but our cubicles were right next to each other). When I first started, he kept trying to introduce himself to me, but every time he came over I was always on the phone! Finally he did, and every day we would chat. Also, the way my desk was set-up, the person who worked there before me had a mirror above her computer so she could see when someone walked up behind her. Well, I noticed that every time he walked by he would always look over at me. Things were flirty between us, but sometimes it is hard to tell when someone "likes" you that way. Then for the holidays I baked some people cookies, and I gave him a plate. A couple days later, he had left a note on my desk thanking me for the cookies and asking me out for a drink! We had to keep it a secret because he was a student worker and even though we worked in units didn't want people to know...although the people next to us know.
But still, I agree that sometimes it is hard to tell if you are a couple. But one time I was at his apartment and his roommate asked us, "So, are you guys like a couple now?" I was so embarrassed, but my ex said "yes." And then we were a couple! After that things got crappy and I would've been better offnot dating him, but I guess it is a cute story anyway!

Well, the nose kiss was basically like a *really* friendly gesture, but then it emboldened me and I just went for the kill...lol.
I just knew he loved me. I could tell by the way he looked at me and talked to me.
