Oh my gosh, do it, now! ;) Try sushi, and when/if you decide you like it, move on to Sashimi. You'll never go back.

edit: do you like seafood? I cannot conceive of anyone who likes seafood, not liking sushi.

I don't know where in here I could get any sushi. maybe I should do some myself.. :D

yeah I do like seafood. shrimps freak me out but other than that.. :p

Sushi is small pieces of fish wrapped in/placed on Sushi rice and seaweed. It's more palatable to beginners usually than sashimi, which is simply a small slice of the fish by itself.

When you're hooked (like me) you won't complain at a slab of sashimi. The rice - though it's lovely - takes away from the flavour of the fish, IMO.
The best sashimi I've had was in Tahiti. Practically melted in my mouth! Yummy, yummy for my tummy.

I've become more tolerant to sushi than in the past. Regular sushi rolls I can easily handle. Seaweed...forget about it. I'll only eat it though at a buffet restaurant. I even went to one a few weeks ago and loved it. Too bad it was expensive as hell.

You guys are lucky you can still get it cheap over there, I just moved to Japan and I can barely afford to get good sushi here. It's something people eat very occassionally or on special occassions.

But good sushi in Japan - annihilates anything the west has done to copy it.

I find it highly disgusting. Who wants to eat anything that looks like your pancreas or spleen served up on a plate to be eaten with chop sticks? Raw too. Hell no. Give me a nice seasoned cut of tri-tip, a big ass baked potato, and a kickin' salad with tons of tomatoes, not this sushi crap. My philosophy is, "If it breathes under water, I don't eat it." I'll stick to the land animals. You can keep your sushi. And yes I've tried it.
  • I've only tried little bites of sushi here and there... it tastes pretty yucky and makes me wrinkle my nose so I pretty much pass on it. My husband loves nothing better than to buy a tray of it at the grocery store and scarf it down... yuck :p
    He's happy not to share.
We stopped eating meat just over a year ago but eat lots of fish and shrimp, cooked that is. Maybe I'll try sushi if we ever go to a nice place that serves it... but probably not. Just thinking about it wrinkles my nose :o

My wife and I love sushi. I have always been picky and never thought I would even try it, but now I am addicted.

Sushi and edimame are the best.

It is parboiled salted soy beans. You eat the beans right out of the hull and it's very tastey.

I've had the soy beans and they are so good!.....but I can't eat them because it raises my estrogen levels and makes me MOODY! That's probably TMI, but if you're a moody woman or with a moody woman, this is a good thing to know. :D

I'm a sushiholic. My favs are salmon, tuna, shrimp, scallops, california rolls, scallop rolls (reg and spicy). I haven't tried the Philadephia or Mexical roll. Are they any good?

So I went out for sushi today at this place in downtown Nashville......they call this guy the "Sushi Nazi" - like the "Soup Nazi" in Seinfeld. This guy really is a lot like that! But his Sushi is soooo GOOD! I was in heaven! His rolls are really big! You get a lot for what little money you spend. And he had the best dumpling soup that I've ever tasted! mmmm.....I wish all of you sushi lovers out there could've had what I did today. Anyway, the good thing is, this guy liked me. He sent me home with some broth from his soup....awww, how sweet. The "Sushi Nazi" likes me! :D I'll definitely be going back.

It's good to be on the 'good side' of a sushi Nazi I'd imagine.
