Well, I was close the Sox payroll this year is 10 million less than last year's and they brought virtually everyone back.

Also, we're now 4th in payroll so hopefully all the talk about how the Sox are buying titles will stop for awhile.

Dice K looked great last night if anyone stayed up to watch him. And Papelbon just blew away the A's batters in the 9th.

Great game by Dice K. He finally stopped nibbling. Oh, and being 4th in payroll is awesome. Should shut up a few people on here.

Yep, I'm registered as Solat13 on there as well. I had been lurking on the site since college until finally signing up for an id in 2005.

Lots of interesting stuff on there.

I'm just a lurker (americantrotter) I like reading it as it has brought me more into the game's inner workings and I understand things better than just knee jerk reactions now.

Went to both Sox v A's games over the past few days.

Dice K was dealin' .... was a bit worried after he gave up the homer to Cust then immediately went 3 - 0 on the next batter, but man, he came around, that showed me something.

Lester looked good today, but, one thing that worried me, all three of his walks ... came on 3 - 0 pitches ... he was a bit erratic and the A's hit into 3 double plays which really helped. Still, I'll take that from the mid/back of the rotation young guy.

Papi's HR today was c-r-u-s-h-e-d ... laser shot.

On to Toronto ... admittedly, I'm a little nervous about Bucholz.

Didn't see the game but the box scores looked nice. I'm registered on SoSH but I'm restricted to posting in the Sandbox...I lurked for a long time and applied for full membership several years back but was never granted it. It's a good resource for inside information. I was there constantly during the Santana trade talks.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

they just announced on the Red Sox station that the JAys will do this every Friday ("flashback Friday")

Man, now if we could only get the Astros in their old Juaquin Andujar / Mike Scott rainbow uni's again!

yeah, every Friday home game is flashback Friday, just like the Brewers did last year. I am sure some other teams might start adopting it if they see an increase in sales from the jerseys. lol @ Andujar, the A's and Pirates could bring back those old yellow jerseys, or the Twins used to have powder blue and red I think back in the day, the White Sox would have tons of old uniforms to choose from for a flashback night

I hope they solve this bullpen issue, and most of all I hope that Lugo forgets where Fenway is.

Nice series for the Jays, indeed ...

I do like a lot about their team ... the big question though, health. Burnett, Ryan, Thomas ... Halladay's a different pitcher these days, can he still be succesful? HAve to rely on the youngin's like McGowan and Marcum. They are better than people give them credit ...

But still ... it's week 1 of 26 ... in regards to the Sox, I'm not worried. Chalk it up to the long travel hangover. This week, they'll be refreshed FINALLY getting back home.

  • Opening day today. Should be a good ceremony.

Time for Dice-K to keep the Tigers winless.

Just need to get the bullpen settled in, and getting the starters finally stretched out, getting timlin back and jettisoning the dreck at the back of the pen should help.

I know Lopez gives us a second lefty, but outside of the occasional ground ball he is a gas can. He should go when Timlin gets back.

I was on an effin conference call ... I assume he was cheered wildly ...

glad to see him back, I know he wanted nothing to do with Boston for a long time after he hung 'em up.

they just announced on the NESN broadcast that Neil Diamond (who was there with Tom Werner) will actually come to fenway at some point this year and lead the crowd, live, in the bottom of the 8th "Sweet Caroline" tradition ...

got to admit, this ownership sure knows how to market to non hardcore baseball fans pretty damn well ... sigh ...

I have to watch the Celts win the championship then I can get excited about the Sox season

  • How do you all do getting tickets to Sox games? My gang spent hours and hours online and waiting in line to get tickets this year - we were able to get tickets to 12 games including 3 Yankee games this year!

We've been on the season ticket list it seems forever! I'll probably be 100 before we get to the top of the list though.

How have the rest of you fared getting tix? Have you gone to see the Sox at other stadiums (we saw them in Baltimore last year - nice ballpark but I prefer fenway).
