Got the game on WEEI blasting in the office :)

People have been making frequent visits by the door, asking what's going on. We've all got a fever here in Massachusetts, and the only prescription is more Red Sox.

Freaking please! Red sox fans are so annoying now! You nearly had a perfect NFL team for your "sickness" as well as a favorite for the NBA!
(btw, I'm a huge Detroit fan so you'll understand my hatred)

I am here to profess my huge man-crush on Manny!
    I LOVE MANNY
takes the spring off and shows up for 2 doubles and 4 RBI in case you needed him. COntract year for him I predict 50+ HR and 150+ RBI

Oh give me a break. I love the Red Sox. I appreciate the sport itself though. The annoying Sox fans are annoying, but you'll have bandwagoners and phoneys with every team.

It' awesome that Manny stands at home plate and watches the ball hit the wall and almost get caught!!! But if ARod ever did that, I'd kill that asshole!!! Or any non-Red Sox. Only Manny can admire his fly balls!!! I'd run on the field and stab ARod if he did that!!! Or Varitek will try to fight him with all his equpment on if some asshole doesn't hustle out of the bawx!!!! But when Manny does it, it's AWESOME!!!!

Yeah i always liked Manny even when he was in Cleveland. Just something about him that makes you feel good about life, something positive is coming around no matter what situation you're in.

you can see it in his game too, he doesn't panic or stress, just stays laid back and chill. when it's time to be productive, he'll produce just like today's game-winning double!

The beauty is its not a full contract year for him, the Sox hold club options for $20 mil for 2009 and 2010(watch it go to fire), so if he performs as you expect, the Sox just sign him up for a relative bargain $20 mil.

I need some help from you Sox fans and Fenway aficionados.

My wife is a Red Sox fan and we plan to go to PJ's NYC shows in June. The team is at home for a weekend series against the Cardinals from 20th-22nd. We would like to extend our trip so that she/we can see a game @ Fenway that weekend.

What I'd like from you is recommendations of resources to buy second-hand tickets. I'm expecting a major markup on the price, so I know not to be shocked by the dollar figures. I just wonder what kind of success anyone has had buying day-of-game outside the park versus using vendors, brokers, craigslist, ebay, and the like.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Scalpers are a pain in the ass. Craigslist tends to be the best value.

They dont come cheap via the scalpers, and the ones here are not you're most desirable kind of people.

There is no secret that I know of ... stubhub, ebay, local brokers and scalpers are the best you can do unless you know folks that work in Boston whose companies have season tickets.

One thing I will say ... in the years I have (was) going to Fenway ... other than Yankee tickets ... Cardinal tickets were possibly the 2nd toughest regular season ticket I can think of (Non opening/Patriots Day), it's not like they play Fenway every year ... their fans, while not as arrogant as us Sox or Yankee fans, are REALLY passionate about their baseball.

I went to a Sox v Cards game some time in the 2002/2003 time ... The place had a lot of Cards fans in attendance.

(It was the night the Yankees were no hit by 3 Astro pitchers, Cards and Sox fans cheered together when hearing that news. )

Cause the consequence for pitching in or at his ear would be far worse than standing on home plate. Come up with something that would be more appropriate.

I am neither a Manny apologist nor a Manny detractor, but the way he stands at the plate and watches the ball really shows little-to-no respect for his opponent nor the Game of Baseball.

The sad part is, in a contract year, he'll probably do a bit more posing this year because he'll be playing for that extra cash.

If you are willing to show up mad early and wait in a line you can get Sox tickets before the game. They usually release 50 to 100 pairs when big wigs and players tickets etc. don't get used.

    Good luck.

    Go Sox!

Are we talking 3 hours before game-time or 10 hours before?

I'd do it, just need a rough estimate.

3 actually. Against the Dodgers, 2 in Dodger stadium and 1 at the LA Coliseum with oer 100,000 expected in attendance.

Besides the obvious money the owners will reap, the players wanted to play exhibitions this weekend so as not to have a week layoff before resuming play in Oaktown April1.
