It is tough watching Orsillo's last game.

I couldn't watch it as my MLB package had the Indians coverage.

I read a RUMOR he's gonna get the San Diego job after Dick Enberg retires(after the 2016 season). Not a bad gig when you can live in San Diego. Unless, he gets hired by Fox or ESPN?

Think the Rem Dog will be there next season?

I said it all over the MLB thread late in the season, Price is the most overrated ace out there. Fastball pitcher. Those guys don't age well. Yankees beat him up. That is a bad contract.

And this coming a year after they offered Lester less than $120 mil over 6 years.

Onley tweeted that this contract is $140 million more than they offered Lester in spring 2014

I just looked at his stats in the regular season and post season... not good! (it is a small sample size for post though)

Well the Yankees with Arods contract was able to win one championship so far. If Price can bring one as well to Boston it will be worth the contract.

Yes I agree, but I meant to contract before that. Signed in 2001 for 10 year $252 million, then he re-worked his contract for the 2008 season with the Yanks after having played there a few seasons already.

Yes it is very unlike Boston, however it may have come down to let's better get Price rather than to a division rival who CAN compete with Boston.

We need pitching (mainly bullpen, though). Price kind of had the market cornered for the time being, although I think it may have paid off to be more patient.

And at least we didn't pay $51.1M just to talk to him.

price dominated the yanks when it mattered this past season ... faced them 4 times in aug/sep and went 3-0 with a no decision ...

in the playoffs - he really only had 1 bad game (against texas) which was likely tied into being off for too long (no control) ... he pitched great in the two games against the royals but had bad luck ...

i'm not sure how his contract will hold up over 7 years but he was gonna get paid this winter by someone - not surprised it's the red sox ...

Dude has a 4+ ERA against the Yanks over the past 5 years with a whip of almost 1.4

what's that less the first game last season when he pitched in like freezing temperatures and gave up 8 runs in like 2 IP?

and how do you explain going 3-0 against Yanks in crunch time last year?

i'm pretty sure most pitchers don't look that great when only compared vs. the yanks ... still, based on the end of last year ... not sure the yanks want to face price that many times ...

thinking AL East will be back to Boston/NY next year ...

That is true. Not saying him signing in Boston is a good thing for the Yanks. Far from it. would have preferred him to sign with pretty much any other team. I just don't like the contract but no question they are better today and have their ace.

I am not terribly confident in the Yanks next year. I see them being good in a few years, but contracts, age and the young kids are finally adding up. I think next year is the year the "rebuild" hits them. Toronto is still going to hit their way to a lot of win. Baltimore and Tampa will stink.
