Well, they did win their last 4 games heading into the playoffs! But yeah ... from here on out, a nice 11 game streak right now would be nice.

As long as they win 11, I don't care if it takes 19 games to do it. ;)

I love to see them win another World Series... especially for Wakefield, it's rather sad that his career is basically over, due to his back... I really wanted to see him make it through this year... he had a great start to the season...

    Wish you were here...

  • The playoffs are a crapshoot. if we're healthy it should be fun. i think with Lester Buchholz and Beckett we have a good starting rotation so as long as the bats don't hibernate it'll be a return to the ALCS.

That man's number should be on the facade with the likes of Williams, Pesky, Fisk, Yaz, et al. He is a class act who has done nothing but put his heart and soul into this team for the past 15 years. The Sox don't win the ALCS in 04 without him and he knew that he couldn't play in the WS in 07 thus giving Lester his start in game 4. And in my opinion he should be in the hall of fame, he is arguably one of the best knuckleball pitchers of all time and is/was 20 wins or so away from the most wins by a pitcher in Red Sox history, eclipsing Roger Clemens and Cy Young.

Many people forget because he gave up the home run to Aaron Boone in game 7, but, he was amazing in his two ALCS starts in 2003 winning game 1 and game 4.

the only issue, I think it's the Red Sox rule that they will only retire numbers of Hall of Famers ... and Wakes, while immensely valuable all these years, ain't making the Hall of Fame.

ummm, folks, i dont mean to bombard your thread. i understand he has been a very important piece to the red sox organization but the man has a 4.33 career era and terrible numbers against thier arch rival.

not trying to start a fight nor bombard your thread and i understand that he is a home town favorite but moose and pettitte have much better career numbers than wakefield and i don't think either of them have a chance at making the hof. 46 might be retired for the yanks but i dont see either of them making the hof.

Yep, the rules for the Sox retiring numbers are pretty strict:

a player had to be in the Hall of Fame, play a minimum of 10 years with the Red Sox and finish his career with the team.

They've made a couple exceptions over the years by putting Pesky up and giving Fisk a token job in the front office so that he could retire with the organization, but I don't see Wake getting his number retired.

Forgot how anxious I can become during the playoffs ... bases loaded pitching to Vladdy reminded me in a hurry. Big K for Lester there. Time for the Sox to put some runs on the board.

There is nothing better than post season baseball and a pitcher's duel where you live and die on every pitch.

I think I just died a little on that pitch to Hunter ... ouch. Still only the 5th inning.

TBS is the worst - no problems here, but I have Comcast.

I'll still never forget the Tyler Perry game last year. I've never been so angry and frustrated at a tv station before.

My bad. Was watching the game while typing and I always get the shows confused on TBs. TBS lost the feed at the start of Game 6 of the ALCS last year and showed the Steve Harvey show instead until they got the feed working.

The start of Game Six was not seen because of a technical difficulty. If I recall correctly, nobody saw the first inning, which contained a home run by B.J. Upton.

    I fucking hate this guy.

    Fire C.B. Bucknor

To: Bud Selig, The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball
Get Major League Baseball umpire C.B. Bucknor removed from the organization, or give him the opportunity to remove his arrogant calls. He is a disgrace to baseball, and is single handedly the worst umpire in Major League Baseball. Managers of many Major League teams are disgusted with him, as are we. He has falsely caused the wrongful outcomes of numerous baseball games with his inconsistency.

    Sincerely,

    The Undersigned

edit - this is not my petition, it's poorly written. I was just looking for how to spell his name and came across that site ... which, seems fitting.

    Fire C.B.

Marty Foster as well while we are at it.

    That was a terrible call.

edit - this is not my petition, it's poorly written. I was just looking for how to spell his name and came across that site ... which, seems fitting.

Where is the petition to get rid of Bud though?

EDIT: Here we go!!! http://www.petitiononline.com/mlb/petition.html :mrgreen:
