No offense man, but comparing the Red Sox to the American Revolutionaries is ridiculous. This is just some Red Sox slappy, homer writer trying to make sense of one of one of Boston's best players losing his head. Him getting tossed had literally nothing to do with the Sox recent resurgence, unless you actually want to give credit to the guy who actually did something good (Mike Lowell). I guess if you figure that Lowell never would have been in the game had Youk never charged you can make a case for this story. But their win on Monday had nothing to do with him getting tossed, and the win Tuesday was more about the fact that after Porcello got ran, the TIgers had to put a no-name kid in to pitch, and he got jumped on.
This incident doesn't give the Red Sox any more of an identity than they had on Sunday. Other than the fact that they have won two in a row...

So the guy that wrote that is a total idiot, and the comparison to the Revolutionary War was ridiculous, but there is a point to be made about Kevin Youkilis's actions.

It was dumb, reactionary, and hot headed, but there is some evidence that it could be the spark this group needed to gel as a team and come together.

In 04 it was Vtek pushing Arod in the face.

Especially when someone does something stupid, it is an opportunity for the team to rally around and support that player, and thus cement the team bond.

I don't know if this is the case here, but I wouldn't discount the idea altogether.

Remy on the road to full recovery , he's not back, but he's in the booth tonight. He plans to be back later this year.

And he's practically in tears over the standing ovation the Fenway crowd gave him.

ahem ... it's uh, getting a little dusty in here ...

    I see your point.
I just hope that Youklis doesn't get credit for the Sox starting to go on a tear when it was guys like Lowell and Beckett who actually did the performing.
And I'm Tiger fan, by the way.
Here's hoping JV can pitch us away from a sweep today!

And for as much shit as people give Boston fans, you guys are alright. :D

I'll concede wholeheartedly that right now, Boston is a better baseball team than Detroit is, top to bottom.
But Verlander was spectacular today. When he's on, he's one of the top three pitchers in the AL.

Cy Young should come down between him and Beckett. W-L IP/K's ERA WHIP

    Josh Beckett 14-4 157/145 3.10 1.108
Justin Verlander 13-6 167/194 3.45 1.186 (whip and era are not updated from today's win)

    Whomever finishes stronger.

You left Zack Greinke out of your list. You cannot leave him out.

He's in the conversation for now. Even though it's not entirely his fault, Greinke is just 1-4 with 2 no decisions and a 3.68 ERA since June. The Royals are 1-6 in those games. He's going to need to start winning some games to stay in the conversation.

Greinke is awesome, but playing for the Royals, who are in last place, will not help him in the voters eyes.
  • Great comeback last night, let's hope they keep it up tonight. And don't forget the game's on TBS tomorrow for all the ex-pats out there.
  • We need Wake back. I have little faith in Penny. Suzawa could be a sleeper. Vtek can't through anyone out. Put Martinez behind the plate and Kotchman at first for once.

Easy to see why Wake was an All Star. I mean the numbers are not there, but that guy gives you a chance to win every time he pitches, and you know you are going to get 5 or 6 innings out of him.

Tazawa could be the answer in the 5th spot and Matsazaka is coming back soon. Hope we get the good version back.

Sorry tek, don't think you're going to make it back in the lineup this weekend. Hope your "neck" feels better soon.
