    Dustin is only in his 2nd season and is making 457k. He's not eligible for arbitration until before 2010 season. The Sox can give him big money next year or they can renew his contract automatically for 750k.

    Once a player gets to arbitration is when they can make multi million dollar salaries.

    The Sox have a history of not giving out big contracts before a player reaches arbitration.

    Case in point, Papelbon is only making 775k this year - his third in the majors. Next season he'll get a big raise.

    Youk only make 425k his 3rd season before getting a raise to 3 million this year, his first season he's arbitration eligible.
