McNabb said if he passes for 300 yards and his team wins by a touchdown, critics will say, "Oh, he could have made this throw here. We would have scored more points if he would have done this."

Asked if white quarterbacks such as Peyton Manning and Carson Palmer are held to the same standards, McNabb replied: "Let me start by saying, I love those guys. But they don't get criticized as much as we do. They don't."

i hate to break it to him, but they don't get criticized as much because they don't play in philadelphia. if peyton played here, philly would've boo'ed him until he delivered a superbowl trophy, as well.

He needs to talk to Rex Grossman, or any of the number of QBs we've had here in Dallas since Aikman left.

just like it was over in 2003 when they started off 0-2? they went to the nfc championship game, in case you need refreshing.

oh, that could've been any number of years. :D
people can criticize all they want about not winning the big one, but i'd rather be consistently good and in it than not even contending....like the dolphins in recent history, for instance.

Regular Season Records going into this season since 2000

    Indianapolis Colts 76-52
    New England Patriots 75-53
    Philadelphia Eagles 75-53

For all of Reid and McNabb's shortcomings, they have been very consistent the entire decade and I'd much rather have that than one good season followed by a bunch of losing seasons.

True, I guess the Dolphins are much better than the Eagles are. I mean winning in the post season over 3 decades ago sure is better than having a successful team in the present. ;)

    You're skirting the question.

Would 1 title satisfy you enough that you wouldn't mnind them being inept for a decade thereafter?

I kind of like the Bill Simmons rule. You win a title and then your team has a five year grace period before you can get angry at them again for boneheaded moves and stupid losses.

    Sounds about right.
But the Simmons rule should have the Philly corollary added, making it 10 years if the entire city is without a title for a quarter century.

it wouldn't satisfy me. i'd rather have it our way...lose the big one.

the 2005 season...after TO was suspended and everyone was hurt....sucked big time. i celebrate weekly wins and get as vested in the regular season as i do playoff games. sure, it stings at the time to lose the nfc championship or superbowl....but that goes away quickly. a whole season without hope is long and boring.

rather have a shot at being competitive and winning it every year than being the Florida Marlins and buying a championship everytime I have enough money to throw around and then dismantling the team...

When they flashed that stat of last championships in Philly and showed Nova, I told everyone I was at the bar with last night that this girl I know would bring it up today. ;)

I agree with you for the first Marlins championship, but the 2nd one, the Yanks had a payroll 3 times that of the Marlins. The Marlins payroll was a little over 60 million so they really didn't buy that one. They just had young pitching get hot at the right time.

I was thinking more about the 1st championship than the 2nd.... Don't even remember how they wound up winning a second.
